hey there, these are my notes on the vid. hope this helps :) 1. brain stem- does the involuntary actions that keep you alive (breathing, circulation, digesting, etc) + responsible in sending and filtering information. Sensory nerves goes upwards towards the brain and motion nerves go down to be acted upon by the body. the following three are parts of the brain stem: 2. medulla oblongata 3. pons 4. midbrain 5. cerebellum- important for motor control, muscle memory, coordination, etc 6. thalamus- imagine a router. the thalamus sends information to where it needs to go 7. hypothalamus- h for homeostasis. keyword: "maintains" this maintains body temp, osmolarity. also is responsible for the circadian rhythm. 8. posterior pituitary- 1/2 is part of the brain. this sends off hormones 9. Cerebrum- is the largest part of the brain and is used to make sense of all the info coming into the brain. part of the cerebrum: 10. corpus collosum- connects the two sides of the brain together (left side-logic, right side- emotions) 11. basal ganglia- nuclei (bunch o' neurons that have the same function) that are responsible for most of motor control. Cerebral cortex: 12. frontal lobe- boss dude that has reign over emotional control 13. parietal lobe- sensation 14. occipital lobe- vision 15. temporal lobe- hearing, language and memory these are located right beside one another at the shared border of the frontal and parietal lobe: 16. motor cortex (in frontal) 17. somatosensory cortex (in parietal)

Women's certificate from an academic standpoint!!!! Is there any wisdom in making the testimony of two women equal to the testimony of a man? What has modern science revealed? Does Islam honor women or degrade them as atheists claim?... According to a study published on the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) website, a woman’s memory is not constant throughout life [1]... It decreases suddenly after menopause.. But a woman in middle age has a better memory than a man, but in a way that differs from a man. In another study published in the journal JNeurosci, it was found that women remember things differently than men. Her emotional memory is greater than that of men, meaning she is greatly affected emotionally while remembering the event. A woman’s memory during testimony depends on the type of recollection [2]. So a woman’s testimony on a matter is subject to her emotions towards that incident and is affected by it...and after menopause the memory becomes distorted...all of this confirms that the presence of another woman during the testimony will have a good impact on the “quality” of the testimony and the accuracy of the information that she will provide...because the second woman often It will not have the same emotional effects regarding the same event.. This is why the judge can make intersections between the testimony of the first woman and the testimony of the second woman to reach the truth. The University of Pennsylvania [3] conducted a major study on the brains of 949 men and women. The researchers found that women are better than men at thinking about multiple tasks because they use both parts of the brain. As for issues that require focus on one issue, the man outperforms the woman because he uses One part of the brain! Scientists at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine were amazed by the results of this study. Dr. Ruben Gur says: The results were shocking when we saw these amazing differences between the male and female brains, but they are complementary! But the important thing is that women have a higher ability than men in social tasks, while men are distinguished by their superior ability in tasks that require specific focus, such as leadership and control. And so, my brother believer! We find that scholars agree that the male is not the same as the female.. The issue of testimony is a serious issue related to the fate of human beings, and false testimony can lead to harming people’s interests.. Since women use their emotions while remembering, and since women suffer from memory problems immediately after menopause. And since women use both halves of their brains to remember, which means less ability to concentrate. For all of this, God eased the burden of martyrdom on women and honored them by allowing them to be intimate with another woman to complete martyrdom. And so that men would not control them, He made this matter compulsory. That is, the testimony of a single woman is not accepted except in special cases, such as a wife’s testimony against her husband and cases related to chastity and honor... After these facts, do we say that Islam has insulted women and belittled them? Let us ask any man called to testify before the court.. He will tell you that I wish I had another man with me to relieve me of the burden of testimony.. So what about a woman who is weaker than a man and more emotional than him.. From here we realize the greatness of the words of the Truth, Blessed and Most High: (And if there are not two men, then a man and two women of those whom you approve of as witnesses, lest one of them err and remind the other) [Al-Baqarah: 282].

It’s the brain under a materialist philosophy of mind and claims to know that fmri are showing correlates to conscious experience when the science and new neuroscience is realizing that the brain is not creating consciousness, rather it is filtering out reality so you aren’t bombarded with information from the collective consciousness. This is why people have more intense experience of consciousness when activity in the brain is reduced. Hope this helps.

Thank you, it's fascinating! I am in my 70s learning from this video about the brain. I have been caring for my vegetative son for 6 years after his brain trauma. I had a hard time understanding the functions of the brain and how he could lose all he was capable of. A brilliant young man just lying there without any motor skill or reaction to my being there.

Hey Mr Anderson! First time I've been back here in ages just refreshing my memory and wanted to say that you are SO good at explaining and teaching people. I always love learning with your videos and have learned soooo much! You really helped me to get through my college course in Human Biology. I even got a grade B in Human Biology thanks to you (which is pretty awesome considering I knew nothing at the start of the course!). I'd say I learnt about 50% of what I know about biology from you and your lessons (lol that's way more than my actual teacher taught me tbh as lovely as she was). Please keep up the amazing work! Mia Li "Nuclei" is the plural of "nucleus", which is essentially the membrane-bound control centre of cells

Mia Li Nuclei is plural for nucleus, which is a group of neuron cell bodies in the central nervous system. The same in the peripheral nervous system is called "ganglia".

one of the best explanations i ever had about brain. brain is very complex and it is packed with lot of areas. these areas are very harder to identify, they are not like other sytems which can identify their regions through very soecific properties. thank you!. you made this lesson very simple and interesting.

I am not studying anything , but can somebody help me understand my sister 's stroke please. I know I am years and years to late on this video...youtube only gave it to me today. She suffered a stroke in June of this year . But we started to notice that she loses interest in conversations ( she emigrated , so we only have phone / video conversations ) . Her twin sent me a picture of the brain scan...but ja , I see a brain ..lol . She is back at work and seems okay , it is just that it seems that she prefers isolating herself more and more too. Lately she also crave sweet things like candy etc . She has also started to gain weight because of all the sweets she eats. Could someone please help me understand her a bit better ..please ?? Years ago our dad also suffered a stroke and he lost his speech , but I would realy like to understand my sister better .

Makes sense. I got kicked in the head by a horse when I was 5 years old. Above my right eye. I don’t recognize faces. But I’m really good at math, science, chemistry and physics.I have been working in the computer chip business for over 25 years. The left side of my brain seems to be stronger than the right side.

You are an amazing detailed and patient teacher! Your informative videos are great! I am a medical coding specialist and certified coding associate. While I am in process to receiving employment, I watch informative medical videos to upkeep with my medical terminology. I think Bozeman Science is great for learning for all ages! Thank you for making these wonderful learning videos! If I could suggest something, It would be maybe to have some type of question/answer scenarios on these videos, giving time for the viewer/subscriber to answer before stating the correct answers. Thank you for helping me.

That was pretty cool! Just one thing though, you guys mistyped "corpus callosum" -- it's more related to "callosity" than to "colossal" (which makes sense: it's pretty small, comparatively). Apart from that, great video! I'll be coming back to it in the future for sure :)
