In this final installment of our Taylor Video Series, we take a look at maybe one of the most important factors that goes into guitar building that is usually overlooked - SUSTAINABILITY.
It's no secret that the primary material of guitar building, wood, is becoming more and more rare, especially when it comes to certain species. This is why Taylor Guitars have revolutionised the game when it comes to alternative woods to not only help the planet, but also keep us fussy guitar players happy for years to come!
Big thanks to Bob Taylor (President of Taylor), Andy Powers (CEO of Taylor), Scott Paul (Director of Natural Resource Sustainability) & John Mahoney (Street Tree Revival, West Coast Arborists)
In September 2022, the guitarguitar team were invited to San Diego, California to visit Taylor Guitars and learn all there is to know about the most popular Acoustic Guitar brand in the world. We were privileged to have conversations with co-founder Bob Taylor & CEO Andy Powers as well as many other crucial members of the Taylor Team, shown around Taylor's factory as well as a visit to West Coast Arborists (Street Tree Revival) - one of Taylor's partners in bringing Urban Woods to their product lines. In our time in San Diego, we captured tons of footage to bring you a series of videos explaining everything you need to know about Taylor Guitars!
We'd like to say a massive thank you to Taylor Guitars for having & educating us. A special thanks to Paul & Dylan for their massive efforts looking after us during our visit.

When you look at the worldwide consumption of natural resources like wood, exclusively used in guitar manufacturing,is it REALlY that impactful? For instance- is ebony in danger of becoming extict is guitar manufacturers produce 250K fretboards? Why is maple consumption not an issue? or Spruce and Mohagony? Lots of questions here.... just saying

Taylor guitars are mostly machine made. Andy powers is a salesman end of.

While it is true,Taylor Guitars employees CNC technology in the building process that can actually enhance the quality and consistency of the product. It would appear, however, that you are woefully uninformed regarding Andy Powers and his history of guitar building. I’ll never understand the need to take personal swipes at people one doesn’t know.

@@jerarde.delaneyii5146 he is a guitar builder and a salesman. Taylor guitars are bright and can’t touch a full bodied Martin. Their sales pitch is a sales pitch.

@@aliengrey6052 what does it have to do with the video? Besides, Quality control is superior on Taylor, even on their cheaper models not like the cheap cardboard sounding Martins at that price range.

@@cesarcamacho2266 no 1 Taylor are not saving guitars from extinction. (sales ploy) no 2 Taylor guitars are mass produced on machines and I’ve had a Taylor (expensive) didn’t like it and sent it back and purchased a Martin which blew it out of the water. Andy power’s literature about how superior Taylor guitars are is all sales hype. It’s my opinion after trying an expensive Taylor.

@@aliengrey6052 Neither are any other guitar company there saving guitars from extinction. But I don't see any other company (which also is 100% employee owned btw) go to this level of effort for the preservation of the woods used to manufacture guitars. Also, if you didnt like your expensive Taylor, 1: You should have send it to a proper adjustment, Taylor guitars are easier to setup than any other acoustic guitar company and I would say are easier to play when properly setup or 2: You didn't like the sound, which is a completely personal opinion that doesn't reflect the reality nor make them bad guitars. Maybe you like the low end of Martin, but Taylor guitars cut better in a mix and a lot of modern music is being made on Taylor guitars, so there is some people who are looking for that specific sound.
