The footage is from ‘81, but this sounds like it was recorded later, or at least remixed and remastered much more recently. It’s definitely not a recording of the performance you’re seeing here, though it’s been synced up nicely.
Nah she spaces it out, but says we are not communists. The spacing (the pause) musically sounds good, but lyrically seems to infer that they are about to state what they are, which is why our brains automatically assume they are saying "we are communists" but that's just bullshit autofill the brain does.
This is a cover song originally done by the Avengers. And yes, you missed something. Namely the lyrics. Turn it up it might help. Louder is always better. You misheard. Easy to hear how that could happen though.
Lyrics We are the leaders of tomorrow. We are the ones to have the fun. We want control. We want the power. Not gonna stop until it comes. (Chorus) We are not Jesus Christ. We are not fascist pigs. We are not capitalist industrialists. We are not communists. We are the one. We will build a better tomorrow. The youth of today will be the tool. American children made for survival. Fate and our destiny we shall rule. (Chorus) I am the one who brings you the future. I am the one who buries the past. A new species rises up from the ruins. I am the one who is made to last
@@bizarro999, your printed lyrics don't match what they're singing, as far as I can tell. Around 1:30 she sings, "We are the Communists", so maybe I did listen to the lyrics and hear that. What do you say?
