In 2017 Alex Anthopoulos took over as GM of the Atlanta Braves, and has helped turn them into a potential dynasty. In this video we look at the Braves success with Anthopoulos, and how they've become a World Series favorite almost every year.
We start with the controversy that led to Anthopoulos being hired and the team he took over in 2017. Then we go year by year and look at the major moves and key players on this team through right now, and how they've put themselves in position to be one of the best teams for the next 5-10 years, and compete for the World Series every year.

Worth mentioning that all this is possible because of the farm system Copellela made as well as Dana brown, now working for the Astros. They both had insane drafts and are gone, we will have to see what happens. In this situation the Braves have essentially depleted their farm system, so these contracts to young players are also bets in some way as we don’t have much left in the tank for trades later on or bringing in for injury
@SmartrBaseball

You are right about that, but don't forget that the braves have their team locked up for the next 10 years so they have time to rebuild their minor league system. They must think they are okay if they just let dansby Swanson walk, and Freddie Freeman the year before. The braves have proven you don't need megastars to win the world series . Look at the dodgers in the Mets. The braves will be just fine

@@calebsalyers4246 Atlanta's farm has been great over the last few years, it's only "bad" now because all of their top guys got to the majors so quickly or were traded. Langeliers/Pache were dealt in the Olson trade, Contreras rose up through the minors, shined last year and was traded, Harris and Strider made insane jumps to the majors, Grissom is now gonna be an every day starter. It isn't necessarily uncommon for teams with a lot of young guys fresh to the majors to have a bad farm for a couple of years, just a testament to Atlanta's development.

You also forgot to mention that Braves got 4 picks in the first two rounds of the MLB draft in 2022 so by extending and locking up their core they are already building back up their farm. I also love the 2021 trade deadline because we gave up Pablo Sandoval for Eddie Rosario and we also got cash when he came over. We also gave up a failed catching prospect for Duvall. Gave up their #14 prospect for Joc And gave up a pitching prospect for Soler.
@howard2031
@howard2031 Год назад
2021 was such a breath of fresh air after so many years of playoff disappointment. And it was probably one of the worst playoff teams we've had in recent times with no Acuna, Duvall in center, Will Smith as closer. But everything just came together. Beating the Dodgers seemed impossible, but we somehow got home field and won games 1 and 2 in walkoff fashion. Rosario was basically Barry Bonds and Soler was a young Pujols. 2022 was more like we are used to in Atlanta over the years... sucking to a worse team in a short series.

The braves have front office commitment to win and willingness to spend money on the right players. Great fan support and the players enjoy the area and organization. So those factors are why the braves will have a great chance to keep winning for years to come. However, they need several titles this decade to be considered a dynasty. Winning the division, making the playoffs or making the world series is fantastic but at the end if the day you have to win titles. @@chadwomack919 Your a big-headed idiot buddy. In 2021 we didn't have the pitching at all. If you actually took the time to also research, you would know we acquired some helpful players during that off-season and also used the time to PROPERLY train them, unlike the rest of the league who use their money roll as an excuse to but STAR players, not ROOKIE players. The Astros also handily used their farms unlike others to groom the talent, picking the diamonds in the rough and transforming them into the stars such as Peña or the upcoming Gilbert. But you're a BRAVES fan, so you wouldn't understand that mentality, you only understand how to live in the past! This can be supported based upon your egregious comment asking rhetorical questions which already have an obvious answer. To further that, you could argue the Astros did better than expected to because we were limited on our pitching, for example the LMJ injury in the ALDS. I know this for a fact because I lived that experience watching my team miraculously make it the WS. We really were lucky to make it because we had poor pitching. Our hitting kept us afloat, so you could compare the 2021 Astros to the 2022 Phillies. But, you'll just clown me for it, even though Im factually correct. Pathetic, pig-headed bozo!

People have become so loose with the term "Dynasty" when it comes to baseball in the last decade or so, so much so that I am convinced claims/videos like these are meant to jynx the team in question. I was always told to qualify as a dynasty you need sequential wins in back to back seasons at least at some point during your "reign" otherwise its just you win, you lose, you win. I genuinely hope this doesn't ruin the Braves amazing season but they need to win at least another championship this year if we want to seriously start tossing the word Dynasty around.I mean just look at the Cubs Dynasty, the Astericks, the Red Sox, (I really don't think anyone though the Nationals had a Dynasty going)the Dodgers. All only have a single legitimate title but all were touted as dynasties. Shoot I'm a Dodgers fan and I would not even begin to call their sustained success a Dynasty without a second championship period let alone in back to back seasons. My point is, be patient.

Saying the Sean Murphy deal was just for shits and giggles kind of under plays how smart of a move it was. AA knew with the new rules even more emphasis would be put on catcher defense. So he went out and got one of if not the best defense catchers in the league. Contreras was never going to be the catcher of the future. I think this will be the biggest move of the offseason for all of baseball. Real big brain move. Not just a because they can move like you have made it out to be.

My brother in Christ, his last name is very simple to pronounce. Dar-No. That's it. They never said grissom was going to be the shortstop for this season and he may be in the future plans but he's not there yet. Just imagine if Alex anthophoulos had AJ prellers cocaine fueled ridiculous budget to go along with being the smartest GM in baseball. There's no genius to what the Padres are doing. They're just doing Yankees early 2000s
