My heart breaks for him. But you really had no choice because there would be something not right from the get go, you would just be going through the motions and that's not fair to either of you. It's sad but it's the psychology of being human, you can't commit to someone until you've moved on from your trauma from the past. I hope he can move on and release his burden as well.

When I went through my divorce last year, watching some bloggers talk about their struggles helped me so much. You are definitely reaching people. Believe me. I was with my S.O. For 13 years. It’s been hard but I’m on the other side and the happiest I’ve ever been. God has amazing things planned for you!

I'm very sorry to hear about you and Caden breaking up. I honestly think this was something I needed to hear and listen to another person talk about how hard breakups are and what your experience is like right now when it comes to the loss of a committed relationship. I met a guy during our freshman year of college and we became friends for over 5 months and then we dated for about 2 years. We were similar to one another such as both of us being diagnosed with autism, struggled with socialization skills, we were pop culture geeks, we were both from New York City even though we were attending college in Buffalo, and both of us being six days apart (me being 6 days older than him). My boyfriend was hospitalized during the spring semester of our sophomore year after he experienced mild psychosis while he was on spring break. We were very caring towards one another and I was very supportive and loyal to him even after his two hospitalizations in 2017 and helped him adjust to returning back to college when our junior year rolled around. At the end of 2017, he was celebrating the holidays with his family in Florida and texted me one night saying he wanted to just go back to being friends and was not seeing me as a girlfriend compared to before, which made me feel upset and confused because I didn't understand why our relationship was suddenly regressing. We were slowly blossoming back into the spark of what our relationship was when I spent a couple days with him in Florida after junior year ended. At the end of September 2018 (about a month into the start of our senior year of college), he decided to breakup with me and it took me many months to go through my grief with the loss of my relationship and went back and forth through the stages such as anger. I was confused for a while because of false accusations he made about me and my neutral friendship with another guy I met during a summer internship (I was guessing that it was perhaps delusions he had as a result from his psychosis). Eventually, I learned that a week after we graduated from college, my boyfriend ended up moving back to Tampa with his mother where he grew up and I think things would not have worked out even if we were still together. It's been about three years since my last breakup and I'm two months away from graduating with my masters degree. I'm still wanting to get married someday and I do want to find the right guy for me that I will be able to call my husband and spend the rest of my life with that person. Hopefully you and Caden will be okay moving forward and you guys are going on the proper paths destined. 💕

How late am I to this!!! First of all I want to say I appreciate you sharing this incredibly difficult and emotional moment of your life. My situation wasn’t the same, (because I didn’t have to grief anyone) but I went through a 3-4 year heartache because my girlfriend proposed and I told her we had to think about it for a bit, because even though I was so in love with her, we were both too young (at least I thought so. Me 24 and she was 20). She ended up going to college and we kept a long distance relationship because we said we would sort everything out as it was only a matter of time, not lack of love that kept us from marrying each other. Needless to say, we ended breaking up (she let me go) and I couldn’t believe it. She stayed to live in her new town and married there and it took me close to 4 years to get over her! I’m now married myself to who I know is the love of my life and have two loves of my life now, my wife and my 5 year old daughter ❤. Things seem to go down a dark path for so long, but Gods plans are indeed perfect! I feel for him a bit, because he may have still been in love with you for some time or maybe even still is; but, what you did has given you both the opportunity for true happiness! Everything happens for a reason. Only God knows. More often then not it work out for the best for us, even though it's hard to see it in the beginning.
