Mike Jones, otherwise known as Garand Thumb, stopped by our headquarters for a podcast and some exciting new projects. On this week's episode of The Bridge Podcast Travis and Mike talk in detail about his new company Onward Research, his journey throughout two military branches, his popular RU-vid channel, and what it took to achieve these amazing milestones. Join Travis and Mike as they take a dive into the lesser-known side of the “Z list RU-vidr.”
Bridging gaps within our industry one conversation at a time. The Bridge is not a show about firearms, training, or the military as some might expect. It’s about people; connecting with others, sharing experiences, exchanging perspectives, and healing together through sometimes vulnerable conversations about difficult topics. We hope to help and heal others as we do so for ourselves by airing these conversations for all to hear. Thanks for listening! We hope you enjoy the show.

Full stop: the right and the left are both needed. A "right wing" only America isn't going to be as great as some may think and nor would a left-wing America. Both sides of the aisle have GOOD solutions and GOOD people who are genuinely interested in making the best country. I'm a liberal who supports 2A. I support self-defense of self and property. I also support not having a situation where poor people aren't having to beg on the streets for a basic roof over their head, clothes on their back, and food in their belly. It doesn't mean I think they need to live in a McMansion and drive a brand new Escalade with eat caviar for breakfast. If you're a POS criminal, there's jail or worse. If you're just down on your luck or fighting some mental illness, I don't think you gotta be treated like a shitbag. I think MOST Americans are like me in that sense.

There's always positive and negative. If it wasn't for the internet a lot of truths would be much more easily suppressed nowadays.
@Motoboo_Marine
@Motoboo_Marine 2 года назад
I disagree. It's also arguably the most important weapon against tyranny we have ever created. Before the internet, the only information you had access to were whatever books you had access to in your local library (which may or may not be out of date and had an equal chance of giving you incorrect information), and whatever your government-controlled media showed you. The internet, just like guns, is not inherently good or bad. It's simply a tool. If it's made your life worse, that's your fault for not learning how to use it correctly. I agree that most people don't know how to use it correctly, but I believe there will be enough of us who do some day to be able to teach future generations how to navigate it easier. You must simply fight intellectual laziness and learn how to do proper research in a scientific manner. As long as you keep those things in mind, you'll be alright.

Travis, this is my first episode of your podcast ever and it could not have been a better one for my mental state. When you mentioned talking to old folks about whether or not we have had hard times like this and for them to say “yes it’s been worse” makes me feel so much better about our chances as country and a society. I am a 26-year-old father of two and I feared that my children were growing up into a potential hellscape. I love Travis. One of my biggest role models growing up and who I watched religiously while I was in the military. His ambition is what inspired me to train and be a leader. I proudly rock his Dragonfly patches on my gear to this day. He honestly raised and inspired an entire generation of future gunfighters.

Very happy to see Mike acknowledge that censorship is happening on the Left as well. There is common ground between anyone who questions corporate power, or the neo-liberal paradigm that dominates our political-economy.

I’m saving this podcast. There’s a lot in here that I needed to hear. And a lot I’m going to have to go back and re-listen to so I can try to make things really sink in. Mid 20’s, out of shape (but I’m actively working on that), no girlfriend. Just a good paying job I can tolerate and too many ambitions with not enough drive to peruse any of them. Lots of things I have to work on and I feel like I’m starting a little late. Better late than never though.

It’s never too late you’re always going to feel that though, I’m 18 watching this podcast feeling behind having grown up not being taught self dependency based on survival, as long as you make strides to better yourself you’ll be ahead of a lot of the pack, good luck man

@Thisisausername556
@Thisisausername556 Год назад
@@Maximus5775I wish I had heard any of this information at 17. You’re already ahead of me on that front. This is the first year I’m going to make 6 figures as a mechanical engineer, but it’s not going to mean anything if I can’t live my life the way I know I need to live it. I’ve been doing a whole lot of information/knowledge gathering the past year, but not a whole lot of practical application of it. It’s coming time to take action and not just sit around thinking about the problems and solutions. I’ve started my business and am working on that, which makes doing other things hard just due to time, but that excuse isn’t going to cut it anymore I guess. I’m rewatching this and saw my own comment. You’re 18 now and I hope things are going well. Hopefully you’re pursuing the things in life that will give yourself purpose and meaning. That’s what’s most important. Surround yourself with good people that want the best for you as well. You are the combination of the 5 people you’re closest to, so make sure whatever that looks like is someone you would want to be. I know that’s not exactly true for me right now so that’s something I have to change soon. Good luck, man.

Yeah, life sux at times, but you NEED to be mentally prepared to take those challenges head on, and defeat them. No matter how small or large they are. Community and friendships are very important to have in your tool box. Thanks guys!!!! Love you both!!

Mike is a really important figure in this generation. He's a clarion call to men that haven't considered their purpose in the new world. If we value our founding values, then we need to be ready and capable enough to defend them. Not just in philosophy but physical action.

@@CharlieVanLiew Hmmm, you're not suggesting Jan. 6th type stuff right...you're more talking about being ready to step up & physically defend our families in some home invasion or similar scenario? I do like your use of "clarion call", nice vocabulary.
