No joke, this has to be one of the best videos I've seen on RU-vid. This does so much justice to the films that have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. You've brought up so many points that I'm surprised I didn't bring up and I now find more things to love and admire these films for. Thank you, Morgan. This is truly one of your best videos in my opinion.
Aww! Your videos are my life. I have a video idea, I don’t know if it can be as great as this video but please hear me out. Could you maybe do a video reacting to Harry Potter memes?? It would be so amazing! I’m not trying to force you but I would love to see it. Most likely when I mean memes Chanwills0, she makes videos with the big mouth filter on characters from the Harry Potter series and it’s super funny, check her channel out!!! Morgan, you’ve made my life amazing, your videos are so awesome! You inspired me to start RU-vid videos.
The transition from "you wonderful boy" to "you brave, brave man" is outright brilliance. It showed how Harry overcame every challenge the world threw at him and hes not just a wonder boy who survived the killing curse, but a man who has shown bravery so extreme that only one in a billion can show. These small details are able make small details a masterpiece
I think that’s exactly why he was placed in Griffyndor. Harry is just the embodiment of bravery for all the horrible things he went through and overcame. Lupin said it best with the dementors. He said the reason why Harry saw such horrible things through the dementors is because he has faced true horrors in his life. And even after that Harry also ended up suffering from trauma and PTSD from the grave yard scene, having watched Cedric die and Voldemort return. Plus he was tortured by Voldemort himself. And even after all that people mocked him and called him a crazy liar and and unstable attention seeker for trying to warn them of Voldemort returning. He went through so much other stuff also but I don’t want this comment to get longer than it already is lol.
Honestly, not enough people talk about how good these movies are from a filmmaking perspective. The CGI in these movies (aside from a few instances in the first two) have aged so well. Goblet of Fire especially has mind blowing visuals, a lot of the cinematography (as you mentioned) is stunning to look at and the acting in these movies is truly incredible. Imelda Staunton as Umbridge is genuinely one of my favorite villain performances of all time
Literally so true. I really appreciate the level of detail in casting, sound crew, costume design, makeup and SFX teams, digital editing, scripting, directing, stunts, technical design, lighting and thematic details, and about 120 more jobs, hell even the caterers keeping everyone on set fed. So many jobs do not get ANY recognition and they should, especially on a film as truly incredible as the HP franchise
People may rip on these movies who love the books, but honestly it could have been far worse. We could have had an Artemis foul or even worse situation but thankfully the writers and teams cared about the source material and made sure they adapted as much as they could despite having the limitation of not know how the books would end given the books were still being completed while the first couple of movies were being made. I love these movies despite the flaws and always love rewatching them.
Yeah the movies made them look so awkward and out of place together but I think according to the books ginny and harry are really perfect because they're both interested in quidditch, good at magic particularly defence and much more. And most importantly ginny liked harry since the first book and if harry and hermione had ended up together ro and ginny would have been left just like that and Ron is a very important character cause hes the part of the golden trio of course
@@fahadtariq6167 I think people ought to reread the books if they really thought Harry and Ginny were perfect in the books. It's slightly better than the movies, but still feels pretty forced. Harry had more chemistry with like every single female character. Hell, Harry and Luna would've been a better pairing.
I dont know I cant really get with the fact that we’ll never see the wizarding world and hogwarts again. The best thing to do would be make a series on harry’s son, where an adult harry, hermione and ron can still be great characaters if u’d want to. That’d be epic, a whole new storyline with new problems to face and Harry (being an auror) needing to help out his son etc. Many ways you could go
@@merengue7139 didn’t they try that already with the cursed child? I haven’t read it, but heard it was a disaster. Either way, nothing can quite top the original 7 books/movies, the original adventure of the trio.
I never realised how Ron and Harry scenes were so joyful. Harry explicitly mentions how much he missed hanging out with Ron between the 4 champions being picked and the first task in GoF, and also how he preferred Ron's company than Hermione's when they were not speaking like PoA and HBP. This is so nicely depicted in the films.
This is exactly why these movies are just a once and a lifetime moment. They are so well made and I think that’s why so many people love Harry Potter. It was done so beautifully, with so much detail in each. 🙌🏼♥️
This HAS to be one of your best editing works. The way you conveyed the parallels was so beautiful and artistic. Great job, man! Thank you so much for always doing your best to give us HP content over the years coming out with something new and refreshing every time.
i thought it was just me being dramatic or something😭this vids touched me too! like woah, i don't think i'll love the franchise more but i was wrong and they're too beautiful😭
I got so emo watching this aswell.. I literally cry always when rewatching the movies 😭..especially when Sirius hugs Harry or when he dies or when Snapes truth is revealed 🤧 Also I hate that Dumbledore and Sirius have to die so those two scenes are always so intense for me My biggest dream is to go to a camp where everyone gets to watch the movies over a period of days and discuss them😭and just indulge in fun wizarding world activities… 🤣oh man 🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯
Thank you for your touching tribute. I saw the films long before reading the books, so I grew up with the movies longer. This perfectly encapsulates the feeling of growing up alongside the characters.
This man never disappoints, and this is probably the best video he has made. This is amazing Morgan, wow. Just when we think you’ve out done yourself, you reach farther for the stars. We love you, and keep up the good work.
The "Harry and Hagrid" parallels are a legacy of the book, while most of the other moments are cinematic creations (as in how they were framed and stuff, which was not explicit in the book). But the Hagrid being the one to bring baby Harry to Privet Drive and then being the one with real Harry during the battle of 7 Potters, and similarly, Hagrid carrying Harry's supposedly dead form, were all motifs from the book, which I love.
My love for Harry Potter movies is deep, but silent and private. My friends didn't know how much I love them. I always watching it alone, I don't talk about it, no items in my possession is about Harry Potter, I just watch it again and again. This is my comfort zone, and mine alone❤️❤️
This is honestly the best video essay about the franchise I ever seen. The detail you went in to it and the emotion behind your voice truly shows how it not only impacts you, but others as well. My favorite part of this would have been when you were talking about the utilization of the films. I am not a film major myself, but it is thanks to you I am more analytical to films I enjoy. Ever since I started to watch your video essays, I feel a little smarter on the process it takes to make a film. My favorite film essay is most likely the prisoner of Azkaban and how it was the best shot cinematically. And I love how you touched on how each film did that. With hit being transitions, establishing shots, or even the simple fact of a door opening or closing. It is thanks to you that I feel as if I learned more about film making, despite not being in the field myself. I can talk to a friend of mine who is in film making and I often use you as reference on how I learn as much as I have. Even though I still have so much to learn. I loved how a lot of this video was to help show how the films rhyme or expand on one another without it feeling...how do i put this, overused? No I think the better term would be that you made it feel like a loved project. 3 weeks went in to making this, I can only imagine how many times you must have watched the films to notice all of these. Your editing style certainly makes this feel more connected. Sometimes we have side by sides, sometimes its a quick jump cut to the next half of your point. But none of it ever feels lazy as if "oh and here we have". It feels like you are saying "And with this part" without even having to say the words. I will admit I teared up watching this beautiful video. It was well made, paced, and most importantly it conveyed the message almost perfectly. I say almost cause nothing can be perfect, there is always something someone will disagree on. I can certainly say that I loved watching this video essay, and all others that you made. Each essay has something unique about them, and I am not referring to the theme each was based on. But a sense of how you truly feel. I remember hearing you tell us how you got in to the franchise through your grandmother, and seeing these makes it kind of feel like a passion project to her. At least in my eyes. You put so much passion and love in it, and that truly shows. Keep up your beautiful work Morgan, I am sure that you make countless people proud with how you make these videos. I am sure if my school would ever have a class based on video, we would probably seen one of your videos as an example on how to create a video essay.
My favorite cinematography moment will forever be the one in HBP after Hermione attacks Ron with the "oppugno" spell the camera follows her as she sits back down with Harry, Ron and Lavender as they go up in one of the towers and Draco atop the Astronomy tower. It shows how at the end of the day, Hermione will always have Harry, Ron will always have someone, but Draco is all alone because he never really extends his friendship to anyone. Sure he had Crabbe, Goyle, Blaise and Pansy, but he never really let his guard down for anyone. If HBP had more shots like this and less unnecessary shoe tying, it really could have been in the top three.
The first book I’ve ever read when I was six 17 years ago, the movie series I’ve seen the most times (like I watch them every second week or so). Purely magical, honestly. I have a similar, very deep connection to this series and I never was one of those “I’m not popular and need to get away to another world” kids, I’m your typical law student cool guy. I don’t think I can put it into words how much these books and movies mean to me because I for one do not know either how can they still make me laugh, excited or feel for the characters. Rowling is a genius, honestly and what the directors did with the world she built is just amazing. Great video, loved seeing those scenes for the ten thousandth time as well:) ❤️
I've seen the movies uncountable times and watched probably hundreds if not thousands of HP movie/book theory videos online, including all of your works, but this video still managed to surprise me. The way you found all these parallels is simply incredible, and I would have never noticed most of these things, even though I've been studying movie production myself. Kudos, this is simply amazing work and further deepens my respect for both the movies and your channel!
In Chamber of Secrets when rescuing Harry from the Dursleys, Ron says "Rescuing you of course!" and in Order of the phoenix when Harry asks Mad-Eye what he's doing at the Dursleys he says "Rescuing you of course!" cool similarity i noticed. great video man
The books and the movies perfectly mimic each other by giving us the magnificent view inside the magical Harry potter world. The memories live on forever and ever ❤️❤️ A dedicated true potterhead💯
You didn't just work 3 weeks on this video. You've collected the briliance of the movies during all the times you watched, in 1 video. No one could have done better. So well done. This is the best youtube video I have ever seen.
It’s interesting about the mirror scene with Neville and Harry because they are very alike especially with the prophecy but although you said Harry had no one to comfort him when he saw his parents, I’d say dumbledore was there to comfort him. Anyway great video!
This is brilliant. It's a loveletter in form of a shortfilm to the films. Thank you for taking your time to do all the work needed to create this masterpiece. This might just be your best work so far. I love your editing. Also, you pointed out many things I didn't notice before, so thank you for that as well.
This observation of all those specks of details is absolutely amazing. I can’t believe how the people made the movies with so many details. They must be overjoyed that someone noticed those. We need to give Morgan an award for such a beautiful video!! ❤️
I love the movies and they did a really great job despite not having all of the information as the movies were being made while the books weren't yet finished. It has it's flaws but I don't expect it to be an exact adaptation and it has most of the elements that helped made the books magical along with the spectacular actors/actresses that helped bring these characters to life. Great job to all the directors and writers as well 👏👏👏
Morgan this is downright genius! I found your channel a couple of yrs ago & you do such a wonderful job transporting us all to the Wizarding World 🥺 so many of us feel seen because of you 🙏🏽 thank you for making these videos HP fans all over the world can bond over. ❤️
A million thank yous to you! I found your channel earlier this year and so quickly became an avid fan. I realised that so much in the films hadn’t made much sense to me because I hadn’t read the books. So I bought the set of books and films, watched each film after finishing each book, and thoroughly enjoyed both so much more after your analysis and unparalleled insights. You do beautiful work and I so appreciate you bringing so much more meaning to this world for us. Blessings sent your way x
Another detail I always adore is how Narcissa Malfoy aides Harry by faking his death in front of Voldemort. Even if Narcissa meant it as an opportunity to confirm if Draco was alive, it's an amazing parallel to Lily's final sacrifice for her own son. Both parents protected Harry with the power of a mother's love.
The cinematography in the films is nothing short of breath taking. Truly spectacular work by all involved. The way they were able to tell the story through visuals alone is quite amazing. Beautiful love letter to the movies!
Being 7 years old when the Philosopher's Stone movie came out. Instantly fell in love. As I learned to read, I grew up side by side with the books and the movies.
I like how in the first movies, as kids, it was brighter and had colourful tones, while in the last ones as they get older the tones get darker and of course the overall plot got darker as well. And for all the people who grew up as they got older they movies fit their new age as it was more mature
It will probably take another lifetime to experience a masterpiece of this magnitude ever again. The Harry Potter movies have always been my refuge whenever I feel down and stressed out. Having watched them so many times and lost count, this video made me appreciate the franchise even more. It was so moving and heartwarming that I was all smiles and teary at the same time. Wonderfully done indeed! Thank you so much for your passion.
This video was needed indeed....today's generation is busy finding faults in HP movies instead of the appreciation it deserves.....To get a 8 part series full of beautiful stories ,relationships, value, good morals ..........very rare movies like these are made today I jst cant wait for the day i give the HP series books and movies to my child Love from India❤️❤️❤️
Wow! If only I could hit that like botton more than once! 🤩 You did a great job in showing and telling us how amazingly the film makers did a great job! Thankd
I love how you pointed out the seemingly simple detail of Harry's neck twitching when Voldemort is in control. That is something that I never explicitly pointed out to myself or noticed, but I always had that subconscious feeling about what message it was trying to send without realizing. I think that's really great movie design.
The amount of work that this video took is immense. Thank you for doing this as it was one of the greatest Harry Potter related videos I've seen to date. Again thank you for doing this. This love letter is something that will be shared and admired for thousands of people. Thank you
I'll have to rewatch this because I couldn't see anything through the tears I had in my eyes throughout the video. It's so good to see a positive video about Harry Potter, which is a huge part of my life, amidst all the negativity it gets these days. Thank you for this.
Something I love is how the Golden Trio walks, they have this order, almost. Harry, then Ron, then Hermione. Yes it can be broken, but it's strange how often you see it in the films.
This is amazingly put together. You can really tell all the hard work you put into it and it’s great how you lined up all the patterns visually at the same time you were talking about them. I had no idea there were so many parallels. And I always wondered what that dream Voldemort head twisting scene was for. I knew it must have been for some reason so thank you for putting the pieces together for me. I’ll be rewatching all the videos again and paying much more attention to those little details
I love how you’re so committed to your videos. This was a special and awesome video to watch. I’ve been a fan a long time and I’ve always loved how much you’re invested in your work. It’s truly inspiring.
Holy crap, this is one of the best HP videos I’ve seen. Excellent work man, Jesus this video and the attention to detail is truly awe inspiring! Thank you for this
The passionate craft of bringing the author's vision and story to life is so inspiring to me. As someone who wants to be an author in the future, I was overwhelmed the two times I went to the studio. Everything I imagine... All the settings, all the characters... It could be brought to life for the whole world to see! Just for an hour or two... The stories I thought up as a little girl can be reality. So yeah. For all the flaws the movies had here and there, they worked from the heart to do it justice. ♥
I think this video rises to the top of all your other videos. It’s masterly. I would never have noticed all of these things consciously. I love your use of divided screens to enable us to visually compare scenes from different movies. You obviously put a ton of work into this. Bravo!
I've seen these movies literally more times then I can count, and in just the first 3 minutes of this video you have shown me 5 things I never caught before. That's so impressive omg
I absolutely can’t stand when fans hate on the movies. In my opinion every one of the Harry Potter movies is a blast to watch. Of course they leave out little details and plot points sometimes but it’s a movie. Not everything from a book can be included in the adaption. It’s also rare that a series this long and detailed was adapted THIS well into film. We’ve seen countless books get turned into rly shitty movies and shows but with Harry Potter EVERY movie is pretty solid. Even the ones that aren’t people’s favorites. Like these movies are solid af.
this makes me so happy because i understand the books are a masterpiece in literature but most of the time i feel like people use the original books to discredit the movies. Yes, the movies have flaws and they arent the perfect copy of the books but they are such beautiful and powerful films. I grew up with the films. I've been watching then since i was 6 and they've been a big part of my life and the morals i stick to even though i was born almost a year after the last film was made. Love the video! I've been subscribed to your channel for almost 3 years now and I love your harry potter content
If the movies are perfect copy of books then there would not be any creativity from the movie directors script writers. These people are talented individuals why they will totally copy something instead of making it better
Don't worry. It's cool to hate on HP nowadays over ridiculous reasons. But they can't deny the fact that HP alone, even more than Lord of the rings and other fictional books, inspired children, two generations at least, to read books. Books, in a world where they could have easily resorted to video games and social media instead.
This was a brilliantly made essay and brought back so many memories! I wouldn't have noticed these amazing details if not for this video. I think another aspect that made the movies so good is the excellent use of music- for example, "Leaving Hogwarts" was used in first 2 movies and then again in the last one. It was the very last soundtrack that was playing at the ends of both first and eighth movie. "Lily's theme" was the opening soundtrack of the eighth movie where we see Snape standing on the tower, signifying Snape and Lily's connection. There are many other such examples where music has been used beautifully in the movies
Apart from the director, Kudos to the editor as well to make the movies blend in the same universe with all the nostalgic elements and the screenplay too
The first book came out when I was 10 years old. By the time I got to 7th grade (I was 12), lots of kids were reading it, but it wasn't super popular. I didn't want to read it because I thought I was too old to read "kids books" and I didn't get into the series until Prisoner of Azkaban (movie) came out. Now, as a 30-something mom with 4 kids, the Harry Potter franchise is a huge part of our family life. I'm so thankful I gave it a chance once upon a time 😊
this is a masterpiece! Thanks for taking the time for making such a complete and careful examination of the movies! I definitely hadn’t noticed many of the things you mentioned 😊
How to make the movies even better than they already are? Just by looking at this essay. Morgan you did an excellent job by doing this video, it's totally amazing. Some of the things you pointed out I've realized before, but most of them I've never saw them and I'm amazed at the work you did by putting everything together so it can be seen as a wonderfully work of art. As you said before it's like poetry. Thank you for making these kind of videos. I enjoy your essay videos so much!
I'm 13 minutes in & already cried stopped crying started crying again.... I love your channel I love the videos you make... but I'm to hormonal for this video today & I'll probably be back tomorrow to finish it💝💝💝 you're amazing & you do & make beautiful things
Watching your reviews of the individual movies, I realised that almost every change they made compared to the books made sense. It was either necessary for pacing (and obviously just cutting down a novel to a 2 hour movie), or it just made the story even better sometimes. The only two exceptions I can think of is how they dumbed down Ron and made him less of a loyal, wholehearted Gryffindor and how they kinda messed up Ginny.
Thank you! A baffling majority of the Harry Potter fanbase are completely clueless on the process of adapting a book to a movie and can't seem to understand that certain changes and cuts (not all) were necessary for a viewing on the big screen
I love the movies, but I would love to see someone come back to the franchise and recreate it all into a TV show, Animated or live action show it would be pretty interesting because you could probably do a lot more withe the extra time with every book being its own season
@Erik Kemeey read the books? they cut a lot of stuff, and rush through a lot of other stuff. im saying it would be cool to see everything, a television show allows they more time per book to add more details that we missed out on and add more that we haven't even seen. plus, I think if they do it, it should probably be animated because it's hard to bring something fictional to life in a real world (akin to maybe something like arcane I suppose, where they develop their own unique art style just for it)
