We need more games like this. I can appreciate more “realistic” looking video games but overall, cel shading has won me over. Ultimate Spider-Man, Jet Set Radio, The World Ends With You, Persona 5 and soon, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, all of them boast an unrivaled unique sense of style and expression that helps them stick out. I will honestly take a game for that sort of presentation alone. I love it that much. And Ultimate Spider-Man is one of the best examples of that.

I always loved playing as Venom he was very scary and awesome you could break soldiers's legs and hear the sounds was satisfying

I remember as a kid not knowing anything of ultimate spiderman and being confused on why Rhino was a robot, Green Goblin being huge, venom being a lab experiment instead of an alien etc. Then I read the ultimate comics years later and found out this game was based on an alternate Spidey and not the one I was used to. Because of that I started getting into the ultimate comics and I can't recommend it enough. Artwork and story is just beautiful. I even got over all the changes to the characters since I understood now that this was a different depiction. Sadly I was upset later comics decanonized the game and straight up conflicted with the events of the game as well (perfect example is silver sable, although I like her ultimate comic version more than her game version). Highly recommend ANY Spiderman fan to read this series

This game was my whole childhood. I played to the point I would dream of it. One of the best Spiderman games, if not the best of its era.

the fact that we were actually able to go to different borrows of NY to this day is mind blowing. cuz usually when they make games centered around ny they only ever focus on Manhattan which always dissapoints me cuz u can do alot with other places like Brooklyn and queens and this game proved that

I absolutely loved jumping around the city as Venom in this game. Hope we get something like that in the PS5 game. Ultimate Spiderman is the reason I love Venom so much and why I prefer the big hulking version of him. Also, can we talk about how Spidey can climb up his webs as he swings, and no other game has ever replicated that? I loved that mechanic.

Still the best Spider-Man game of all time. Hope we get a port of this one day.

I really like how venom doesn't get his chest insignia until later. He looks really cool in all black.

the soundtrack was so absurdly perfect, it has an electronic style EVERY game at the time tried, but to me it hit the spot in a way no other game did, I still find myself humming the race theme randomly sometimes

This game's biggest crime is that it wasn't Spider-Man 2. And infinitely better follow-up game that the world, for whatever reason, refused to acknowledge in it's day. To me, THIS was the open world Spider-Man game to beat when Insomniac's Spider-Man game came out.

My favorite part of Ultimate Spider-Man playing as a kid was the cool comic book cutscenes after every mission and getting to play as Venom and devouring those military soldiers in that one mission

Just the ability to play as venom put this game a far cut above the rest, and the soundtrack SLAPS.

HEY EVAN!! This game had the hardest races to complete and getting the BLACK SUIT was so hard finding all the tokens..the graphics, gameplay, boss battles, soundtrack... a perfect flawless game... CLASSIC!!

Lets not forget Spider-Man in this game is Mac from Fostered Home for Imaginary Friends.

Man this was such a classic, and being able to play as venom and looking at those comic covers were just so cool to me as a kid.

Ultimate Spider-Man is an amazing game. Imagine if Insomniac Games used this game's dynamic to the black particles in Peter's bloodstream to fighting Venom himself that the player needs to be cautious in the fight.

Remember the hype for this game back in 6th grade man. This game was a classic and had pretty cool villains and a unique art style

Long gone are the days where you get to play as villains in open world superhero games. I love Spider-Man but god damnit let us play as other characters in Spidey’s roster. Even someone like Black Cat would be a nice change of pace.

i can’t believe this, i haven’t played this since i was 4 years old on the PS2 and i always had one memory i never forgot. this game honestly scared me but i really loved it as a kid. it’s the first game i remember playing as a kid.

Back in the PS2 days I was addicted to Ultimate Spiderman no Spiderman game ever compared Voice acting, music, graphics character swap were absolutely amazing.

It’s weird seeing the trailer for Spider-Man 2 again in retrospect. My cousin and I used to watch it all the time in the Spider-Man 1 game or Spider-Man 2 movie where I believe it had it as an extra This game did a lot of service to the Ultimate series. It’s how I fondly remember that iteration of Spider-Man because of this game. Stan Lee really hit the nail on the head on what this game did too RIP to that legend

i spent so many hours in ultimate spiderman on my gamecube. god i love the game, its one of the few games that let you play as venom in a narrative driven game.

Although I never read any the of Ultimate Spider-Man comic books physically, this game did a good job of replicating said idea. I feel like I was playing a game while reading a comic at the same time.

I remember how much of cult classic this game is. So few of my friends remember it but this is the one I most remember and is what helped get me hooked to borderlands. I like games with in-engine cutscenes and comic book cel shade games with comic cutscenes were the closest I thought of that would let transitions be seemless And that’s why I love this game

Aside from the 90s Spider-Man cartoon, Ultimate Spider-Man was one of my first true experiences with Venom as a character, not just as a badass monster of an anti-hero. Hell, Venom himself was the very reason I went to see his first solo movie when it released in theaters back in 2018! And with Insomniac bringing out their own version of the Lethal Protector, I can't wait to see him all over again. We are Venom!

I know you've probably been told this before, but it's actually insane how close your voice is to Ultimate Spider-Man's Peter Parker

This was literally my favorite Spider-Man game until Insomniac's Spider-Man!!! Still in my Top favorite Spidey games for sure!

Before watching the video I wanna make something clear. Ultimate Spider-man's only sin... was not making the story replayable and Carnage an alternative costume.

What really sold me on this game was the overall motion comic style direction of the game. It heavily reinforces the fact that it’s true to its source material and even though it’s a video game, it should be experienced as an Ultimate Spider-Man arc.

Stan talking about how good Activision is at making games really hits me in the heart. Activision used to make some absolutely Stellar games and it is so shitty to see what they've become

Ultimate Spider-Man was a perfect video game it needs a remaster

ultimate spider-man was my first ever spider-man game, back then i wasn’t sure why it was called “Ultimate” because i didn’t know about alternate universes at the time, but ironically when i got older and started reading comics, i started preferring 1610 over 616 Spidey. Like real life foreshadowing 😂 to this day the USM game is still my favorite Spider-Man game, i definitely prefer the comic version of the story but the game is perfect in its own way nonetheless i do hope one day you do a similar video like this, except for the comics. Most of Spider-Man “fans” i’ve met hate their USM comics, but there’s still plenty that love it, would love to see a video dropping respect on the series from someone like you, Evan (if you like the USM series enough to do one) keep up the good work Evan, im typing this comment before the premier so i’m not sure what you say but i’m excited to hear your thoughts on my fav spidey game

Ultimate Spider-Man will always be my favorite Spider-Man game. I remember getting that game for Christmas at 13. Best Spider-Man Game Experience I've ever had especially getting to play as Venom was Pretty Fucking Sweet! I'd love to see this game rerelease on the current gen systems.

I played this game one time and man I had so much fun playing back and forth with Venom and Spidey. Even Wolverine was in the game to fight venom and that battle was fun. This game is a special gem. I will say TASM games are very underrated and that I think they need more love.

I loved Ultimate Spider-Man it was so good I really want a remaster but it won’t happen.

I hope Insomniac actually gives us a Ultimate Sipderman classic and black suit skin in the game. The was just something special about unlocking the black suit in USM.

This game was the gateway drug. After I played it I was so infatuated with Spider-Man and venom even more so. I’d known the 616 my whole life up until this point and once I found out this wasn’t that same Peter Parker, I had to know more about the comics and overall Spider-Man lore. I owe a lot to this game.

It's crazy to me that looking back, pretty much ALL the Spider-Man games that were created are considered good now. Even the ones were considered "bad" when it came out.

Imagine this game updated with a bit better animations, less clipping through objects. And better lighting. Like a pixar movie but in a comic book style. Omg I would pay for that.

Man, I miss OG ultimate spiderman. Both the comic and the game(more the game in this case) had a cool and unique style. The game captured the character and vibe of ultimate spiderman and Mark Bagley's art.

This game holds a special place in my heart considering it was the main reason I fell in love with Spider-Man as a kid aside from The original Tobey Maguire movie. This game was so good that it became CANON to the comics. If you manage get this game on pc, there are so many amazing mods and resolution fixes that enhance the gameplay and replay with alternate suits. The treyarch era of Spider-Man games was truly something special and I didn’t get this kinda of feeling from a Spider-Man game post-web of shadows until Spider-Man ps4.

This game is an amazing display of how to make a great game for people that never had any contact with comic books such as myself while also respecting the audience that read the comics in the first place

I remember using a modded save that unlocked all the costumes from the beginning because I desperately wanted to get the Black Suit and play through the entire story mode with it. Both Spidey and Venom fighting with their respective black suits made it memorable for me

That scene of Venom diving off the building from the end of the game is still one of the best, "YES! This is Venom! This is how you write a Venom story!" moments ever. Man, Ultimate Spider-Man game is one of the best examples I give that people like Sam R. saying you can't write good stories with Venom just weren't trying.

I used to hear Sean/Shawn (don’t know how to spell it) as the Ultimate Spider-Man but now I hear Philly-Spidey from the Ultimate Spider-Man motion comic dubs.

Ultimate Spider-Man was the first videogame that I owned as a VERY young child, that and GTA San Andreas which both were on the PS2. I honestly really would buy another PS2 and the Ultimate Spider-Man game just to re-live those memories.

This game is and probably will always be my favorite Spidey game.
