Purple is a color associated with royalty, so a reddish purple color is a beautiful metaphor for her. The red isn't only wrathful, it's also literally symbolizes blood and danger.
@@selenaombra5409 im from the uk and purple still stands as a colour that associates with royalty anyway. probably because of rhe history of the colour and how it was hard to get for anyone who wasnt rich and only rich were allowed to wear it.
@@selenaombra5409 Purple is historically a symbol of royalty due to the color being extremely hard to produce prior to the development of synthetic dyes, which meant only the extremely rich, like royalty, was able to afford it. Thereby making it a symbol of royalty.
It's also nice that she's visibly middle aged. At least in her default skin. Riot will definitely 'fix' that in all of her skins like they did with Camille.
Camille was aged down because she’s using hextech to keep herself alive by any unnatural means pretty much and is like 80-100 years old if I recall. All of her body is literally made of robotic parts and we have no idea what the full side effects of using hex tech are or what fully happens aside from Arcane and guessing there are also positives.
@@cindthialarrabee6544 I don't think a skin has to be the same age as the vanilla look, but let's not mince words. She's younger in all her other skins because it looks "hotter" and in theory will help the skin sell. They could just as easily have all her other designs have the appearance of a middle-aged woman like she normally appears, but they don't. It's not for the lore of the alternate universe, or a reason specific to the design/theme of the skin. Its purely to appeal to the lowest common denominator and make as much money as possible (See the 3 billion skins for Akali, Lux, Kai'sa, Katarina, and every other Barbie-eque dress-up doll in the game)
I always love her story. Oh how ironic it must be to selling perfume from the place that you have to beg for the clean air to sell those who can breath clean air whenever they want. To me, Reneta is never moved on from the day her parents died. What she has from that day onward are somewhat of a facade to hide the little girl who still suffers since that day. I love the contrast between her mocking her own parents in her line and her death line.
Something I love about league universe is that every region has a central “ antagonist” that drives the story of the region n tells us a lot about each one. Demecia has Sylas, Noxus has Leblanc/mord, piltover has scissors legs, and ZAUN has this beautiful woman.
I love the trope of characters blending into and moving up in a society only for the secret motive of burning it down out of vengeance. People like Askellad come to mind
Renata is the hottest character Riot has made since Illaoi when she came out I changed my nickname to MommyRenataGlasc and I havent stopped loving her design ever
I like her eyes so much because you can get lost in the pink and not notice her pupils, her pupils tell a story of just pure unsympathetic rage. Its a million yard stare that will look past everything for her goal, true revenge.
Honestly, Renata is the best character in the game. And she even plays the way that she was designed for the lore. Manipulating your teammates and the enemy into doing what you want and subverting everything everyone else does in order to benefit "yourself". (revive teammates or let them continue fighting while you run away)
A tiny detaile i love about her design is the glove she has on her flesh hand it's not a fancy or elegant glove but a lether glove i don't know why but I love it , it shows despite her having a elegant facade she isn't afraid to get her hands dirty and to me it also shows how despite her embrace of wealth and trying to look as trust worthy for the piltovans, she still desplay that she is a zaunite, her broch and shoulder jacket even have zauns logo .
Another small detail but, Renata's name is derived from the Latin name Renatus meaning "born again" or "resurrected" and one of her most poignant voicelines is about how the old her, the *human* her, died along with her parents. So you COULD argue that the Renata we see now is the "reborn" Renata, now a vengeful (slightly more wrinkly) shadow of her former self.
Wouldn't the fact that her color scheme specifically uses a magenta/pink be important? Red is rage, and pink a shade of that red rage. However, it's attuned to a softer, "less offensive color"
I have to say I always like playing her even though her gameplay is not the most exciting one. It is her story and her artstyle that gets me every time
Can we also talk about how he weapon is a luger? Y'know, the German infantry sidearm from WWII. That says something about type of character she is that that is her weapon of choice. Obviously real world politics don't exist in Runeterra, but the designers chose that gun for her for a reason
Also, her eyes represent her character very well business people are often depicted as demons for being heartless and greedy so it makes sense but it also represents her anger and rage
A kind of weird thought crossed me about how she uses the chem formula in her design; the berserk-ing formula was the (at least recordedly) last chemical formula her parents created. Now they were trying to make it so that when someone took it there weren't so INCREDIBLY violent and controllable, but it was still the last thing she had from her parents before the enforcers burned them alongside her home. It's very interesting as now the same purple color of that formula now pervades her. It flows through her arm, representing how she uses it as a way to strong-arm potential business partners through the use of small vials of it hidden in products they buy. It's in her eyes, not only to show her seeing red, but _what she is seeing them with._ All the while the rich and influential titans of Piltover try and garner her favor, all she sees is what they took from her, what they need _taken from them._ And at last it's at her chest, around her heart. Because after this, after she destroys those who destroyed her, after she claims the Sun Gates as her own and owns the trade of every city in every region, she'll feel that anger fade, and possible, even change into grief. Because the formula was never meant for this. Her parents didn't want a formula for controlling others, for forcing them to uncontrollable violence for crossing you ever-so-severely. It was made to help people. Renata might have thought ill of her parents while she starved, and perhaps not unjustly, but once she sits alone in her empire, she'll feel it. That grief. That knowledge that you used the last thing your parents gave you in the one way they never wanted it used.
literally the only information i have about league comes from arcane and these shorts, but as far as ive seen, this is the _only_ skin that looks as good as its splash art.
the voiceactress for Renata in the PT BR version is simply the golden key to her design id say, since I play in this version, I would say comparing it to the English version, it does make much more sense for me
Yknow what now that you point that out about seeing red, Riot probably used a very similar color idea with Reyna from Valorant, albeit to a much lesser degree
What do you think about her similarities with Arcane's Sevika? The arm !!!, the purple pink of her formula/Shimmer (as opposed to regular green chemtech), their skin tone, body build, role/position in Zaun, time of their introduction... Idk it feels too close
I'm really not sure if i should be mad/sad that I can't use this absolutely STUNNING name for any of my own stuff now that such a popular character has it, or if i should be proud and thankful that such a great character got it, because honestly even if it was still "available" i wouldn't have come up with it anyways.
i really like her design too and its one of the best in hole leauge - unfortunately she is a support and i don't enjoy supports (and league much anymore too)
I think this is extra cool because I feel this character is especially male associated but the role really has little to do with gender (are males more likely to have cold revenge? Maybe? Not too familiar with those gender stereotypes… I guess men are highly represented in rich CEOs lol). But this wasn’t just done to be “LAWL let’s reverse some genders!” Sure that might be the origin but it really became it’s own thing. It’s epic.
crackpot theory: renata was riot taking reyna from valorant and trying to make her an actual character design outside of the needs for valorant simplicity and proportions
