That larger alphabet on Catherine Williams' red sampler is common to Irish samplers though it doesn't necessarily mean the sampler is Irish. I first came across that alphabet when stitching Hannah Campbell from HATS but learned about the alphabet itself at Sampler Symposium earlier this year when Kathleen Littleton of Cross Stitch Antiques gave us some info on it. It's called the Benezet Alphabet after Anthony Benezet who was an educator and produced multiple spelling books including one that contained "sampler letters for embroidery". I am citing Kathleen's info and she references "Samplers, Sewing, and Simplicity in Quaker Ireland". Hope this helps! 😊
Margaret Jones all the way. My brain is bouncing in my skull thinking of the beautiful Roxy Floss that will be used or made for this. So unique. It’s a must… please.
Margaret Jones should be the next reproduction!! What a STUNNER! It might be more wonderful in the gorgeous Roxy Floss conversion! Thank you, Caroline, for bringing Chloe and her reproductions out into more widespread audience. She does have an amazing eye, and I truly wish I could hire her as my own personal shopper of samplers and all things stitchy-wonderful!
I love this series! It is amazing seeing all of these designers that you're bringing into the shop and to get to learn more about each one. For which sampler to hope that Chloe would reproduce, I really hope she does both! But Ann Wharton would be a fast and easy yes for me. Goodness. The birds and flowers and beautiful text. And that border! It would be a dream.
Oh My Goodness! What a fantastic designer creating fantastic things. Those two large sampler finds are STUNNING. This is amazingly difficult to choose. I think the border on Ann Wharton may have helped it become a winner in my eyes. Ann Wharton would be my choice.
Margaret Jones and Ann Wharton are both beautiful samplers and I would love to stitch both of them. My roots are from England. In fact, I am actually related to the royal family!! The Cotsolds look beautiful and I would love to visit the area. Congrats Chloe on your achievements and I'm off to Instagram to follow you!
I love them both!! Margaret Jones would be a beautiful reproduction but Ann's would be just as beautiful. So hard to choose. I think I would want to complete Margaret's first! Thanks for sharing!
Awww, this is such a lovely video, thank you so much Caroline! ❤ I can see the response here in the comments and my DMs on instagram have been piling up over the last 24 hours. Thank you so much to everyone, I hear you. Both are on their way. These will take some work so it won’t be tomorrow… I’ll be speaking with Caroline soon. Xx
I had just been looking through Chloe's IG page this morning! I would love to see the Ann Wharton HOWEVER, the Margaret Jones is so absolutely different that I have to vote for that one - plus, I LOVE peacocks.
