This time there is no particular division but different pools of models that enables you to play most of the actions described on both RF Western Desert supplements and in the many PDFs available in the RF site. The models are mostly plastics (Airfix, PSC, Fujimi, Hasegawa, S-Models, Matchbox, Revell and Esci), die-cast (Altaya), 3d prints (Minigeneral) and resin (Frontline Wargaming). The model of Monty's Caravan ( a british truck with an Italian body) is Matchbox and not Airfix and I said on the video.

Brilliant! The Indian Pattern Carrier takes the biscuit ! Not forgetting to include a bagpiper ! You need some Mark VI light tanks and some "Deacon" 6pdr anti-tank vehicles, and don't forget the captured Italian vehicles in the early stages of the campaign, Lancia trucks and M11/39's with kangaroos painted on the sides.... Brilliant.

Butlers Printed Models do a nice Indian carrier and the early pattern bren and scout carriers. I quite like their models, not too expensive and 'good enough'.

Wonderful army. Hoping to build a Western Desert force myself one day but even when complete it won’t be even 10% of yours. Don’t know where you find the time and energy!

I´m 54 by now and many of the things shown here were built 30 or 40 years ago. Recently I had a big help from 3d prints and double and triple models of the PSC type. Regarding time and energy I admit having a wife that spares you from house duties is a big help, but, well, you have to look and choose carefully :)

@@joaopeixoto5249 - I gave up wargaming/modelling for 25 years, so that may explain part of my problem. Also my wife works full-time so I have to contribute to household chores. Certainly the boom in wargaming kits (PSC and FtF, etc) and collector diecast AFVs (Altaya, etc) and now 3-D prints is a great help these days. I’m increasingly steering clear of traditional plastic models as they take so much time.

@@joaopeixoto5249 - Yes, I can see the kits were built over several decades - in particular by the various shades used in the Caunter camouflage! Do you ever repaint or rework your earlier productions?

A fabulous collection. You must be really dedicated to your hobby. One question - do you glue all the turrets in the forward position on your vehicles or do they turn?
@joaopeixoto5249
@joaopeixoto5249 2 года назад
Thanks. All turrets turn. Plastics have their own fitting but all resin and 3d prints have a bit of bluetack for turrets to hold and turn.

@@joaopeixoto5249 - I use neodymium magnets, which can be a faff depending on the model, often requiring drilling and filing. Never even thought about using Blue Tack but it sounds like a viable alternative (chronic perfectionism means I’d have to tell myself it was just a temporary measure though, lol).
@joaopeixoto5249
@joaopeixoto5249 2 года назад
@@sirrathersplendid4825 blue tack works well. Use a good quality one and it will hold and allow you to swirl the turrets for years.

@@joaopeixoto5249 - I still use some Blue Tack that I bought about 40 years ago! I use it for sticking 1/72 scale plastic figures to bottletops for painting. I noticed only recently that it doesn’t work quite so well on white metal figs.
