She is 73 years old!! There is no way this woman looks or acts 73 years old. Wow. She looks absolutely stunning and is in amazing shape. You are my hero.
I have no interest in seeing this production (for many reasons) but I gotta say, Tovah is a class act. When she talked about “being a senior citizen” I gasped bc she is so vital (and let’s not even get into those amazing arms!).
Funny Girl isn't a great show (though it has some great songs) but Fanny Brice is a great role... in the right hands and vocal cords. (Unlike Dolly Gallagher Levi in Hello, Dolly, which is pretty much fool-proof.) Gypsy is that rare thing: great music, great lyrics, great book and great roles -- plural. As a result, Mama Rose, which was tailored for Ethel Merman's voice as Fanny Brice was for Barbra Streisand's, can actually be performed successfully by interpreters with more modest vocal resources: of the three Mama Roses I've seen in the theater -- Angela Lansbury, Tyne Daly and Patti Lupone -- it was Daly who knocked it out of the park, not least because she was both a star and a member of an excellent all-round cast.
It's unbelievable how the media went from keeping a low profile with Lea Michele to having her walking through every outlet on Broadway ignoring her past problems, her PR has done a great job of washing her face in every one of those interviews...
Wow you must be perfect. We have all been young and stupid except you. Please tell us your secret. Please show us how you have completely sidestepped mistakes. Bad choices, bad decisions and at times just being a plain old ass. Perhaps you could write a book. I'm sure there would be a lot of people interested in how you have managed to live this life bypassing what it is like to be human. Let him without sin throw the first stone. Everyone, everyone is deserving of a second chance. Even you.
