True. I had good seats when I saw her in October and when she hits the last note in I 'm the Greatest Star and everybody wildly applause I could see the immense joy on her face of the triumph of quite frankly BEING the greatest star, at least at that moment. I hope she has a great and long career that goes back and forth between tv movies and Broadway the way Kristen Chenowith has had so far but I truly believe this time in her life will be one of her fondest memories.
Most of us have always loved Funny Girl, because of Barbra or do we love Barbra because of Funny Girl! 🎵Now Michele takes her turn with this musical and makes it as beautuful!🎶 For Michele and the entire production!👏🏼👏🏼BRAVO!👏🏼👏🏼
I love this version! I saw a clip of Beanie doing this song and it was so disappointing. The staging wasn't as glamorous nor as funny. Lea seems to be hitting it out of the park with her (and the director's) interpretation of Fanny.
Ooh what a fun trivia! I wonder if Lea has had "collabs" with the other cast members and what their ideas were. I particularly would love to hear what she and Ramin specifically came up with for their scenes (if they did at all) or if the credit all goes to Mayer.
@@zolaxx4267 no one else has really said anything about it as far as i know. I know lea came up with climbing onto the piano in ‘greatest star’ She and tovah were allowed to ‘re-invent’ their characters so they got way more playing room than replacement actors usually get, but they havent said much about the specifics sadly. I want more behind the scenes stories haha
Did they transpose the key lower on the whole set up with the Emcee? Sounds like it, which is too bad. Makes it feel less ridiculous when it’s supposed to be over the top silly.
Who designed this production? Because it is atrocious, every clip I have seen just seems to go from bad to worse. Did the designer even research the period?
Agreed...boring, repetitive staging, too many gags, the jokes are tired and only barely land. The tempo is sluggish at best and it feels very mechanical. This is SUCH a dated show. I can't imagine how boring this must have been without Lea. Although they are trying SO hard to hold her back from adding ANY nuance that may remind the audience of La Streisand it might actually be holding the entire show back. Lea seems constrained and reticent to let go, making it feel like a Glee episode.
