The Broncos Blow It: A Breakdown. The Seahawks beat the Broncos on Monday Night football after head coach Nathaniel Hackett elected for a 64 yard field goal attempt instead of giving, Let’s Ride, Russell Wilson a chance to convert a 4th & 5.

From 2009 to 2020, the success rate for Hail Mary plays is 9.7%. And as the video pointed out, the success rate for 64+ yard kicks is 4.8%. And the conversion rate on 4th and 5 is roughly 50%. So he really just chose the worst possible option there, incredible.

As a hawks fan this game end was so confusing. We've seen Russ do 4th quarter comebacks for years, so to have one in his return to Seattle would've been poetic although painful. I had just came to peace with this as Hackett sent out the kicking unit. Seattle even gave them a warm up kick with a icing timeout because surely Denever isn't that stupid. It's almost like it's not completely pointless to play starters in the preseason when you have a new qb, new offense, and new head coach. Who would've known? This game was giving me flashbacks to the Vance Joseph days. VJ wasn't a completely thrash coach as people now make it seem, players liked him and he had a vision of what direction he wanted the team to go. But what made him a disaster was what he did during actual games, always making the worst decisions with everything: punting, timeouts, going for it, game clock management, challenges. Hopefully Hackett can show that he can learn to make better decisions.

Greetings from KC.👋 Poor Perna, I remember how excited he was in finding out the Broncos acquired Wilson. Must be a HUGE letdown for all Broncos fans after all the hype. It helps to play your starters in pre-season though. I'm sure they'll play them next year after this train wreck.

all that money and all those draft picks for a quarterback and then you run down the clock and kick a 65 yard field goal because you don't have faith in your new quarterback? Is this the Cleveland broncos we're talking about? 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣

The clock management was less than stellar. but my bigger concern was the general lack of tempo with the offense. Waiting to snap the ball at the last second every play kills time and allows the defense to tee off. And two delay of game penalties is inexcusable.

Welcome to Russell Wilson as your QB. Get ready to needlessly waste timeouts because he couldn't read the defense quick enough and doesn't have enough time to call audibles.

I'll never forget the time Melvin Gordon held out (unsuccessfully) for weeks into the 2019 season for a new contract, during which time it only became more clear just how much better the undrafted Austin Ekeler was than Gordon at every facet of being a RB except maybe short yardage situations, only for Gordon to make his heroic return and cough up the game with a short yardage goal line fumble. He always has at least one per season. Hopefully he only has 1 and got it out of the way early for you guys this year.

I agree Brandon! There was so many blunders, it should have never come down to a final field goal attempt. This should have been a 30-7 ball game in our favor. Between the penalties, fumbles, lack of catches, lack of execution on the goal line and the defense not playing in the first half, this was a team that wasn't ready to play or came in so over confident, they flopped.
