What a beautiful family of Siberian tigers. The cubs are adorable. They have these round, beautiful eyes. The cold weather doesn't bother these cats, in the wild in Russia, they would be in the snow for the whole winter. They are lighter in color than Bengal tigers, their fur is much thicker and Siberian tigers are the world's largest cats. Mum is very patient. She doesn't mind being stalked and pounced on.
This is a wonderful video. And I am so glad you didn't add a music audio track to it. It is so nice to be able to view the scene and hear the same sounds I would hear if I were right there, watching in person.
at :19 the covert operation was quite successful, and the face of the startled adult is awesome, great video, thanks for sharing cheers from snow-less san diego
@Robbiepiano No, not at all. These are Siberian (Amur) tigers, not Malaysian or any other breed of warm habitat tiger. These cats are used to the snow and more than that, they really love it! They have coats that are very thick and designed to resist the cold unlike their southern dwelling cousins. No worries, they're completely enjoying themselves right now. ...my precious lions, on the other hand, have to spend this snow day indoors. ^_~ I miss them, but they'll be back out in the spring.
What a great video. It's just hard to believe that in little as 10 years from now there won't be tigers left in the wilderness. The only way anybody could see one is in a zoo or a sanctuary. I just wish that we had some place to put the animals and for people to leave them alone.
There are plenty of space to put them in Siberia. There are very few people or human activity there. But, nature itself cannot sustain them. It is entirely possible the climate cycles are disrupting their food chain. Species going extinct is nothing unusual and may not have anything to do with humans.
cbbuntz Why is there a competition? Maybe lions are exciting to watch as a pride going after prey with strategy. Male lions with their tawny long manes are majestic too. Lions have slightly larger and more expressive eyes than tigers and are very affectionate and social. Humans relate to that more.
cbbuntz History shows that lions have always been revered, plus lions had a range in three continents. They had a range throughout most of Africa, a good range in Asia though smaller than their range in Africa and a small range in southern Europe and the Balkans. Tigers on the other hand only lived in one continent, even when tigers lived in Persia, Persian lions still had more respect from the Persians than tigers did, even in India lions had more respect historically than tigers did. So it's historical.
