15:40 Douglas from The Brown Buffalo was singing a video that I watched that back in the day when designing for other companies, they would do the extra padding in the bottom bottom for the laptops, but then he designed it so that the compartment tapers in words towards the bottom so that when you put the laptop in it slides down and wedges itself before it hits the bottom. I tested it with three different TBB bags the the first HUCKBERRY X, The VX 21 version and the original ballistic nylon version. All three did the same thing with my MacBook Pro 14 it wouldn’t slide all the way to the bottom, but with my MacBook Air or any of the iPads they were slim enough to get pretty close to the bottom. But with the hook and loop Laptop/tablet mod, I think that’s the Mod 001. Anyway it works out great.

I'm not sure how reliable this approach is. Once you compress your pack vertically, would not laptop just fall to the bottom and stay there?

Love this bag! I use the 1050D ballistic version as my size L office carry & as my weekend travel onebag. This new MCB huckberry collab has wider straps, with each strap coming in at 3" wide vs 2.75" wide on my other concealpack21's. That would make the opening a half inch wider. I would be willing to bet that is the contributing factor to it rubbing on your neck as I've never heard anyone else have this complaint with the bag.

Woah, did not realize the straps were that much larger on this version. I bet you’re right! That extra .5” likely would have been the root cause of the neck rubbing, even though it wasn’t severe. Such an awesome bag, though. I’d love to see new 19Ls get released.

I confirm the rubbing thing. Especially when using sternum strap. The shoulder straps are elevated by the narrow padding underneath. Attachment points are narrower, compared to A19 and Goruck. It would not bother me as it happens only when I turn my neck and I usually don't use sternum straps, even when Rucking, as opposed to EC. But it is definitely there.

I have the 19 as well. I use it in conjunction with 21. When take work stuff, 21, i use the 19 the same way i would a cpl16, light tech etc. stays slim, smaller footprint, same good look. @@ECsEDC

Just got my Huckberry edition. The additional Labor Day discount made it too good to pass on. Anyway, I’m a little underwhelmed. The main issue for me is that the bag just seems really big. IMO it wears much bigger than the dimensions would indicate. On my back it feels closer to the CTB26 than the GR1. Up in the air on whether I will keep it. It seems to have a very specific short travel use case, but I’d probably go with a more feature rich bag when those trips occur.

Yup! I had a similar experience(s). It’s a big bag. Deceivingly so. Great bag nonetheless but definitely large for most folks daily needs.

I did the same thing. Labor Day sale but I was thrilled. I’m bigger guy and was hoping to use it for weekend travel. It’s perfect for what I was hoping to use it for. Couldn’t be happier. This review saying it would be great for week trips is what pushed me over the edge. Many thanks

It's the first bag that actually fits all my work stuff like truly. All while staying slim on the back. None of that 8.5+depth BS. I prefer the taller spec traded for less depth imo.

Camo aside, looks so much better than ctb20.

@@ECsEDC theres a slightly shorter 21L version which i think would be perfect. And also a 19L version. For note for anyone.

@@PanaMaJwaaRd I thought about the 19L from the secondary but opted not to. I’m sure I’ll come back to that at some point.

I’ve got the 19l and it’s the perfect size. Wish they’d put more of them out. Great video 🙌🙌

Thanks Becky 😊. I’ve been on the hunt for one. I’ll get my hands on it one day! I know TBB sizing is a bit different from other brands. What would you compare the 19L to?

@@ECsEDC similar frame to GR1 21 L. Slightly taller I would say.

10:23 The buckles at the bottom of the straps have to be there to be BERRY compliant, which is a set of military guidelines/regulations that manufacturers must follow in order to be considered for military purchases. Most of it is safety related That wouldn’t be as big of a deal for civilian use, Being able to unbuckle the pack quickly in the event of an emergency, and needing to get away quickly,if the bag got snagged and stuck on something, you can unbuckle it and drop the bag faster than trying to pull it off, especially while wearing armor and gear. it is easier to get the pack off when you are laying down as well. Also, in the event it’s a medic pack the medic can run up to the patient and quickly get the bag on the ground. Then there’s other aspects of the BERRY compliance that have to do with how tough it is like the bar tacking of critical parts. Only certain type of webbing can be used for the straps and MOLLE. And I’m not sure but I think all The companies that make the parts have to be American owned, but maybe even all made in America. So like with GoRuck They aren’t BERRY compliant, so regular troops can’t carry go bags in the field. Now with special forces, they live by a whole different set of rules. often times they are in the middle of nowhere and don’t have a lot of equipment with them so they would use their bags during their PT like how people use GR bags to ruck / exercise and like what they do at the GoRuck events. If they had the plastic buckles for the straps, they would most definitely be crushed and break. Again, I might be wrong about this, but I think that besides not having the quick escape buckles on the straps most of the GR bags Meet the other BERRY compliant qualifications.

Wow, thank you for providing all that context. That’s super helpful for my understanding as well as anyone else who might check this video out. I appreciate your in depth response.

@@ECsEDCYa ya, I know that I am a bag Nerd with a capital (N). lol I can get what some might say as long winded when talking about bags. Especially when talking about 🦬TBB… They are always in my top 3 fav. Gonna check out some of your other vids, cant promise it won’t happen again…🤣😂🤣

You are not even kind of correct. Neither Brown Buffalo nor GoRuck are US Government contractors. Only issued bags have to be Berry compliant, not personal, and neither these nor the GR1s are compliant. These simply use "berry compliant" bar tacs, a marketing gimmick.
