THIS STORY:
Bruce Everitt Lindahl was an American serial killer and rapist who committed a series of rapes and murders in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In 2020, 39 years after his death, on the basis of DNA profiling, Lindahl was connected to the death of 16-year-old Pamela Maurer, who was killed on January 13, 1976 in DuPage County, Illinois. In this respect, he was declared a suspect in at least 12 murders and 9 rapes, committed in different Chicago suburbs from 1974 to 1981, which are currently being investigated.

THIS CHANNEL:
_________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

Wow! I had chills go down my spine!!! Bruce was a skydiver at the old Hinckley drop zone. Back in 1980, I made my first skydive. Bruce worked there and he was my jumpmaster! He seemed to be a nice guy with a funny sense of humor. I was shocked to hear about what happened and what he done. The USPA symbol is the United States Parachute Association.

At Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien, Illinois is Lester W. Weber. Lester won the Congressional Medal of Honor 🎖 in Vietnam Nam in 1969. He is a true hero. I wished that you included Lester in your video. Also in the same Cemetery is James W. Robinson Jr who in 1966 won the Congressional Medal 🏅 of Honor. I was friends with both of these heroes younger brothers.

When I visit Oakhill Cemetery here in Janesville, WI, I always check the trash cans as people throw out so many beautiful plastic flowers. He and his ilk are right out of a 600 page book written in 2019 by Gary Brucato, PhD and Michael Stone, MD, titled The New Evil: Understanding the Emergence of Modern Violent Crime. The thesis is that sometime in the mid-1960's, (they call 1965 the fulcrum year), there is compelling evidence that, since a cultural tipping-point in the 1960s, certain types of violent crime have emerged that in earlier decades never or very rarely occurred. They say that philosophical, psychological and cultural changes in both individuals and society have resulted in crimes that are of such cruelty and brutality as to be breathtaking and unlike any committed in earlier times outside of war. The perpetrators are heavily represented by those who came of age in the late 60's and early 70's, mostly male, during the chaos and drug plagued breakdown of our society. Mr. Lindahl, born in 1953, fits right into this category. The authors examine the biological and psychiatric factors behind serial killing, serial rape, torture, mass and spree murders, and other severe forms of violence. They persuasively argue that, in at least some cases, a collapse of moral faculties contributes to the commission of such heinous crimes, such that "evil" should be considered not only a valid area of inquiry, but, in our current cultural climate, an imperative one. They consider the effects of new technologies and sociological, cultural, and historical factors since the 1960s that may have set the stage for "the new evil." Further, they explain how personality, psychosis, and other qualities can meaningfully contribute to particular crimes, making for many different motives. Relying on their extensive clinical experience, and examination of writings and artwork by infamous serial killers, these experts offer many insights into the logic that drives horrible criminal behavior, and they discuss the hope that in the future such violence may be prevented.

I agree. I use to subscribe to another channel because I love to hear the stories behind the stones. Unfortunately I left that channel because the blogger was an anti-social type of personality that bled into his commentaries. I thank you that you are more respectful with not only the victims but your tribute to those who served in the military. My husband served vietnam 1968 - 1970, green beret. He was Huey pilot, shot down 3 and specialized in jungle warfare which also taught in Panama. He also trained Korean Tiger soldiers before he was finally assigned out. As with most vets, he doesn't talk about his experiences, but one time he did open up. It was absolutely riveting what these guys did. I'm sure it is the same regardless which war was fought. My only child, my son, served in Iraq 2002-2003, medic, was hurt last day as the were packing equipment up. He made it home, the wounds heal, but the PTSD is never will. He only told one story of a little girl he was working on. He had to remove all the damaged tissue. He chokes up because he says he can't get the image of her staring at him. You see she had been burned so badly that the nerves were damaged (3rd degree). He doest know if she survived. My heart goes out to all servicemen. They have my sincerest gratitude because they answer the call to not only to protect our freedoms, but to help defend those who are suppressed by tyranny and can't defend themselves.

It makes me so mad when I hear about a guy like Lindahl who pretty much got away with murder among the rest of his crimes. Well, at least on this earth but definitely not eternally. Then the other side of the coin is a guy like Fred Lester. What a hero! Greater love has no man then to lay down his life for his friends, and that's exactly what he did. Thank you for doing your part to keep this case in the public eye. It should be much more well-known-both the crimes as well as the police culture of misogyny that enabled them to occur over and over again. In the documentary, Torres is confronted/caught in multiple lies about his involvement with Lindahl, and becomes very nervous, rambling, and vague in his responses. Of the myriad injustices in this case, the fact that he was never properly investigated for his actions ranks highly among them @@FacesoftheForgotten

Ty for making known so many forgotten and the stories behind them…true treasure and for the respect you pay them and our veterans. Just an FYI…Mr. Lester was a Navy corpsman and not a medic. Medics are Army and Corpsman are Navy. This is just information, not intended to be unkind. Soldiers have rivalry among the different branches of service and joke about these things. My husband was a Navy corpsman attached to the marines in Vietnam so I thought I mentioned it. Keep up the great work and can’t wait for you to come to Texas. I haven’t found a channel for Texas with the initiative you put into your work.

Very strange, been binging FOTF today and the last 4 stories I have watched have all had something with either Sycamore or St. Charles, Ill. Weird, huh. Bruce was born in St. Charles.

I noted the irony of the dove on the tombstone when the camera first showed it, and I'm glad Faces of the Forgotten noted the same thing.

You are correct; from other commenters I have seen. And then I did confirm with a woman (that he almost got), who was actually parachuting with him. I think I remember her saying that he was a parachute instructor.

I want to thank you for honoring the Fallen men/women that served. I served and so I want to thank you 🙏 also that USPA on the killers grave is a “skydiving “ promotion I don’t know why it would be on there unless maybe the family donated money to someone/thing. uspa.org/SIM/7 is the info I have gotten.
