There have been a number of dictators throughout History who met a rather bloody and brutal downfall. The Ceausescu's had been in power in Romania for decades until the Romanian Revolution rose up. Elena Ceausescu met her future husband as they were members of a Communist group, and as he rose to power in Romania Elena also rose. She became a prominent figure who was known as 'The Mother Of The Nation,' but she was a woman who could be very sharp tongued and rather brutal in her own manner. She was power hungry and determined for further advancement, but in 1989 when the Romanian Revolution broke out she was ousted from power.
Elena Ceausescu was eventually arrested alongside her husband and was brought to a hastily arranged trial. The Ceausescu's were sentenced to death for ordering the military to fire upon civilians and because of this they were swiftly executed outside the place they were tried. Elena went to her execution kicking and screaming, and along with her husband the Dictator, they were both executed by the revolutionaries.
