"The Brute Man" is a 1946 horror film directed by Jean Yarbrough. The story revolves around a disfigured and embittered man named Hal Moffat, portrayed by Rondo Hatton, who seeks revenge on those he believes have wronged him.
Hal Moffat, once a handsome and promising college student, becomes disfigured in a laboratory accident that occurred due to a prank played by two of his fellow students, Clifford Scott and Virginia Rogers. Blaming them for his deformity, Hal retreats into seclusion in the tunnels beneath the city.
Living in the dark, damp tunnels, Hal develops a deep hatred for society and plans his revenge. He begins targeting those he holds responsible for his condition, using his immense strength to overpower his victims. As the body count rises, Detective Sgt. Hanley is assigned to investigate the mysterious murders.
