@rymillar8126 integrity-quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. "he is known to be a man of integrity" the state of being whole and undivided. "upholding territorial integrity and national sovereignty
So tired of the complete lack of sportsmanship or even integrity with tournament fishing. Stealing spots, cutting people off etc. Even at the local club level...absolutely no respect or courtesy! Good for you bro!
Absolutely u did the right thing. Just because he couldn't catch the fish it's nothing but pure greed and defense. This is why I don't fish tournaments anymore. It takes the fun out of fishing and makes people be the worst they can be.
As a tournament angler who has fished the opens as a boater you 100% made the right call. When I fished the opens I seen some things that may have been borderline that I’d never even bring up but this was blatant. I’m glad you feel you made the right decision because you did .
For some of these folks that say you are in the wrong, are the same folks that will cheat themselves. Too bad honesty and integrity is gone in todays world. Good for you Andrew, keep being you and doing the right thing.
Self policing professionals. You did everything right so did the other people. This is a good thing and don’t ever forget that. Makes me happy to know such rules are enforced and even exist. Love the honesty the integrity and your absolute love for the sport. Thank you Andrew
Glad you posted this video. This is what is wrong with social media, drama/a crisis/tragedy gets more attention that anything unfortuntely. You did the right thing, good luck in the rest of this years opens.
I have a TON of respect for you, and now I have ten tons of respect for you. You’re definitely what the sport needs more of. Thank you for coming on and explaining the situation.
Andrew, you absolutely did the correct thing. Not sure if you've watched the harris chain boat crash where the 2 guys were telling other anglers to close their eyes before leaving the lock and running full throttle in a no wake zone (clearly a rule violation). Had one of the other anglers spoke up and said "yall run that no wake zone I will protest you both" that accident might have not happened. Doing the right thing is not always easy but at least you're man enough to do it! Good job and God Bless!
So glad you made this video. I hope you don't let some bad apples make you stop with your social media. Everyone has "balls" on the internet and love to blast others without knowing all of the details. I have watched and followed you for a while now but you have now earned me as a fan for life. Continue to keep true to yourself and stand up for what is right. The sport needs more integrity and values and you lead by example. Even when blasted you still talk kindly of others who didn't give you the same respect. Someone raised you right.
You made the right call. And I applaud your decision. Unfortunately social media has become a place where people can change the narrative to make themselves the victim… by lying and false information. I enjoy the channel, and your character. Keep catchin!
Integrity is becoming increasingly rare these days, so it’s so refreshing to find someone that exudes it in the face of criticism. You’ve earned a new fan sir!
Thank you for doing the right thing. We need more people like you in our sport. This is what makes you a great father, husband, friend, and all around great human!
First video nice ever watched from your page. I can only say that you are a stand up man. You’ve shown true character and did what is right, although the hardest, you stood up and merely follows the rules. A man of true character.
Years ago somebody told me when trying to make a difficult decision the right choice is usually the hardest. Thank you for making the hard decision to force another angler to follow rules in place. Good job. Your family should be proud of the person you are.
I glad you brought it to the director's attention, also pleased he got disqualified. I think bed fishing should NOT be allowed anyway. Just my opinion.
Your channel is one of the first ones I began following a 3 or 4 years ago because of your content and tips. Now I'm an even bigger fan because you're a stand-up guy. I commend you for having the testicular fortitude to do what you thought was right no matter how tough it was to do.
Sometimes the honest road is a lonely road, you’ll lose friends along the way. Youre seeing their true colors and sometimes we are blinded by our “perception” of those people until a line in the sand is drawn, as it is here. Great job all the way around. Ive never really watched your stuff before, but today you gained a fan
You 1000% did the right thing. And you are absolutely right, we do need to do better. Tournament anglers, especially at your level should be beyond reproach. Thank you for being strong enough to do the right thing.
It is nice to see someone standing up and calling out ethics violations. Far too many anglers commit such violations and they are swept under the rug for one reason or another. You sir, I congratulate on your morals.
Doing the right thing sometimes feels the worse especially in something like this. Do you, keep doing you. I can hear the frustration in your voice and only defending yourself after the fact. You keep good people in your close circle. Sometimes humility is hard to swallow.
When I first subscribed to your channel it was because I watched a tip video you gave and it was totally honest and you were clearly giving a tip to teach not to sell for your sponsors. That honesty is what keeps you on my list. Life’s about more than cutting throats and selling crap.
Proud of you Andrew, Bassmaster doesn't need that behavior, leave that to the MLF, thank you to you and Bassmaster for doing the right thing. If you lose friends over this, maybe they weren't really friends to begin with. As the saying goes, "to know the true character of a man, fish with him".
Thank you for standing up, instead of sitting down Andrew! It's hard to be a Leader and have good character and integrity. If it was easy, our society wouldn't be what it is today. So, just know you did the right thing for being a great conservationist and the integrity of the sport! Glad you shared your side and your teaching others what is the right thing to do.
Had a guy that I really looked up to, worked hard, won a lot of local stuff and even qualified for the elites years back. During a local open tx, I was fishing down a bank and came up on him poled down on a bed. As I got about 50 yards away, he had given up and turned the bow away to keep fishing, looked up and saw me, turned right back to the bed on 100 and completely blew it out. As he passed by I asked him about it and he just shrugged it off and said meh, she’ll be back shortly. Long story but that was 100 percent dick move and I haven’t spoken a word to him since.
Nothing but respect for ya. Doing the right thing is is more important then all the hate and backlash. Integrity is hard to find these days. Glad you still have it.
Thanks for sharing Andrew. Disappointing to see how this has been handled by other parties. You did the right thing. The high road is a tough road to follow. Stay on it brother. 👊🏻🎣
You did the right thing. Rule violations need to be called out for the integrity of the sport. Best thing is to take ownership of our actions and change going forward.
Your action took conviction and courage. Everyone could tell how much thought you put into it and how you looked for the best alternative. You did the right thing. It is a shame it occurred, and like you said, Bryan was probably frustrated and made a bad decision. He should be held responsible. For whatever it is worth, I'm proud of you. You showed that you are a leader, and lead by example. Your family, especially kids will remember how you handled yourself, then and everyday forward.
Andrew it's not just social media it's the problem with this world today and the people in it. We let people get away with stuff hand over fist and when someone stands up and does the right thing they are the one that gets wrecked. It's sad but it's so true. Why do you think bullies get away with so much in our schools today because the kids that tell on the cool kid for doing wrong get crushed.
Sometimes doing the right things are tough but you absolutely did the right thing in this situation. I’ve been fishing on my home lake for 30 yrs and the amount of disrespect on the water is so bad these days,I’m selling my boat. Seems like professional fishermen have no choice but to have a big social media platform to stay relevant enough to make a living and there are too many keyboard warriors who can’t wait to attack! Anyone who questioned your character in this situation aren’t your friends. I’ve been following you Todd,& Bradley from the beginning and really enjoy you guys so keep it up.
Good for you! What a difficult situation you were in and made a very moral decision. It's awful that these other people are trashing you. You were right!!!!
I support you 100% Andrew! It sucks other grown adults can’t be called out for making a mistake and they have to be immature and resort to this type of stuff. Keep your head up buddy, you did the right thing. 💯
It is the angler’s responsibility to know the rules and regulations. Besides, he willfully destroyed natural habitat. In most states destroying a nesting area is against the law.
People do the wrong thing and when they are caught or called out, they scream and yell and lash out! It’s childish and almost comical! We are grown ups and should act that way. I believe that you did the right thing, keep your head up!
Thank you Mr. Upshaw. Thank you for being Honorable. Thank you for your Integrity. Thank you for standing up to your responsibility. It's rare now to see a person willing to do the right thing. Honor is standing for what's right even if you have to stand alone. You're not alone, sir. I stand behind your decision 100%.
U are always on the good person mode, u could never do the wrong thing, only the right thing. Your parents must be proud of u. Good job Andrew, u did the right thing.
The fact than an ELITE SERIES PRO would intentionally BLOW out a bed says a lot about his character. I bet all of those bass eggs on that bed will survive 🤦🏻♂️ It takes 🥎🎾s to stand up and do the right thing. You’ve always been that kind of guy.
Andrew, sir. You were 100% in the right to report it. Not only from a conservation standpoint, but also as a tournament angler fishing the same tournament you witnessed a blanton, intentional, deliberate act of unsportsmanlike conduct. He new what he was doing was wrong when he did it. What he did was wrong on both levels, and a obvious violation of the rules. I seen his post and I'm glad he was man enough to admit that he was wrong, and he admitted to doing it, but you were 100% in the right. There was absolutely no sense in doing what he did. There is a reason for the rules, that everyone has to,(or is supposed to) read, respect, and abide by. You did the right thing.
Things like this make me so glad God pulled me out of this trash, called modern day tournament fishing. I was on Toledo yesterday in patroons with no clue there was a Toyota series going on. I don’t keep up with this stuff anymore, not worth my time (someone sent me this subject which is why I’m looking into it, they know I use To be personal friends with Andrew) When an angler pulled right on top of where I was fishing without even speaking to me I had no clue he was in a tournament. When I finally figured out, he was fishing the last day of the Toyota. I immediately got out of the area. But besides that the angler still pulled right on top of me, literally I could throw my rig in his boat. That move by him was enough to call the tournament director and have him DQ getting all over my spot being disrespectful. In 20 years, I never reported anything to the tournament Director I always felt it was Not My place.,. God will judge. Absolutely incredible what this sport has come to, it’s sad. I was part of it for 20+ years people now have no respect for anyone anymore but SELF. Most likely Andrew was in the right just because I know his character….. Judgment is coming soon get ready God is about to make haste against everyone that’s not keeping the commandments. And I can promise you anyone fishing professional is not keeping the commandments written in Exodus chapter 20. As for Andrew I see where he did nothing wrong from a tournament standpoint but in the eyes of our creator we are doing everything wrong by breaking his commandments with our worldly obsessions
In the end, God will be our judge. You did what you knew was right in your heart. To do otherwise would not be honoring God. If I were you, I'd hold my head up high and sleep like a baby tonight. May God bless you and yours.
What lakes are u fishing? I nor anyone I know trash our lakes. It's those Mexicans and illegal immigrants that everyone is letting in the States. Saw a Mexican family taking a bath on Smith Mtn Lake. I wish I had a 10xd to run in their heels
Andrew, you did the right thing and there should be more guys like you out there !! and the people who have integrity like you will still watch your content.
