Now I understand the saying: "a slow boat to China" 🤣What an interesting trip! I was also on the Mekong river but much further to the south in Viet Nam during the war (now you know how really old I am!). Thanks for the video, enjoyed it.
What a long journey guys but worth it though. Glad you feeling much better Dev 😊 yeah yeah yeah!!! You are back to Thailand. I know it 😊 I found your video in Chiang Mai if i am not wrong cooking thai food. I know you guys had so many good memories in Thailand. Can't wait for the next one. Thanks for sharing 😅
Thank you for this video. I have been struggling to find information on the trip up the river, as most people seem to post info on the downstream trip. I was concerned that we wouldn't have enough time to cross the border before it closed. That doesn't seem to be an issue. Thanks again. Very helpful.
so awesome to see this! love that your vlogs feature how much things cost in CAD, i dont have to convert that way, haha. Im taking this same route from luang prabang to north of thailand in a couple weeks. I dont know if I missed it -- how much was the slow boat? Cheers from vancouver
Hey Kristine, we are so happy you liked our video and found it helpful :) that’s so exciting you will be taking the route enjoy it! :) in terms of cost. If you buy it ahead of time at a hostel (that’s where you will get the best price) it includes the taxi to the boat dock I believe it was 33-36 dollars per person and that includes both days :)
Really nice video. I especially appreciate the realistic view of everything. Can you share the name of the boat company? (We are planning a similar trip this Spring). Thanks!
Thanks for watching Andy. It’s a great trip, it actually wasn’t with a company. At hostels and hotels you can book it a few days before boats run daily both directions :) you can also book it at the dock the day of but it’s nice to do it a few days ahead to make sure you have a spot :)
I moved to Vietnam last year and got married lol. My Vietnamese wife and I loved Mekong. But we only did the floating market tour. Would love to do this. Some beautiful country. And thank you for sharing😊
This video is amazing and i travel to Cambodia laos and Thailand coming November can you tell me the price of this slow boat journey from luang prabang to Huay Xai....thanks
Were you able to get a general antibiotic like amoxicillin or cipro? Or does this happen enough that you had something specific from your primary physician?
Enjoyed your slow-boat adventure. 13 years ago --- when I was 63 --- I did the same trip, but in the opposite direction. I am also a world-travel youtuber with a channel (which I will not mention) with 700 vlogs and 90 hours of original content. I traveled solo with a small daypack and a digital camera (drones were not around yet) --- for four months in Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand. I stayed in the same charming hotel in Paksay. So, what follows is creative feedback, not grumpy criticism. Your vlog would have been GREATLY enhanced --- with five or more minutes of spectacular drone shots --- once you settled down in Paksay --- drone shots up and down the Mekong (on both banks) --- plus drone shots over the rows of long slow-boats --- and up and down the main street of the charming town. Full love and support from the Earthpeople of Hawaii
Thank so much for watching, we are glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you for the feedback. When we are moving quickly or not in an area for a long time sometimes we find it hard to find time to drone. We will work on adding more drone footage to future videos :) Also that is so neat you were also able to travel through these wonderful countries, did the slow boat change much in the last 13 years? :)
