This is one I have not been to so Ty for going there. ❤ and mentioning the myVEGAS deal. I use that a lot when coming to Vegas. Aw I totally remember Shoneys and their awesome breakfast buffet. Such memories. Agree with Paul that I love the carving station soooo good. Again thanks for another great video. Look fwd to next week. ❤❤
I’m glad that you enjoyed! I miss Shoney’s. It was a regular Saturday morning breakfast when I was growing up. All the locations in my area closed (Not that there’s many left anyway). -James
Thank you for sharing! We haven't tried this buffet, and honestly, wouldn't have even though about it based on other reviews. We may give it a go now if we find ourselves on that end of town. We, too, were very disappointed in the MGM Grand buffet - definitely not worth the money!
I would say to not go out of your way, but if you’re in the mood for a brunch buffet that won’t completely break the bank, it’s at least better than MGM Grand. Granted… not by much, but still a step up. -James
Super helpful. I like that you tried the birria & eggs with machaca, which I think other reviewers would have skipped. Buffet mussels…brave indeed. The Omega Mart hat is so Vegas.
I wish they were better seasoned though… but as someone of Hispanic descent I just had to know. Especially as someone who loves Birria. But the Chorizo at least had some flavor. Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoyed ❤️ -Paul
@@JamesandPaulTryitAll here in St.Louis, good, fresh sausage like chorizo is hard to get. Often those plastic sleeves are available everywhere. Greasy, yes. Delicious, also yes.. 😅
I really appreciate that you guys explained WHY something was very good or off, etc. Did it include coffee, soda and or juice? Did they have a lot of fruit? If it includes coffee and has a lot of fruit, I might go there for a healthy breakfast. Thanks so much!
Admittedly we did skip a lot of the self serve beverages because we bought the all you can drink package and had about 3 to 4 mimosas over the course of our meal. But they do include a station for self serve beverages which is a lot more convenient IMO than waiting for a server. There was a salad station to build a salad as well as some fruit and yogurt near the station that had oats and other breakfast cereals, so there were some lighter options as well. Additionally on the dessert section while the desserts in general weren’t of the highest quality, there were a few options for gluten free or sugar free desserts and they were clearly marked in their own section. Thanks for watching and we hope that answered your question ❤️ -Paul
We went around 10:00am to 11:00am as this was the first thing we did upon dropping off our bags after flying in. I can definitely say that you will beat any rush the earlier you go (for anything in Vegas) - You gotta basically beat all the people who sleep in. But the Excalibur is a family friendly property (for the most part), so you sadly won’t be able to escape children, but the earlier you go, the less of a crowd you should encounter. -Paul
Kids are not an uncommon sight at Excalibur at any time of the day, but we went right around 9 AM on a Sunday. It was not too busy, but it was far from empty either. -James
😊😊😊I agree the Excalibur is better than the MGM and also better than the Luxor buffet. If you have a car take a short drive to the Southpoint buffet further down the south strip. Better quality and about $10.00 cheaper. In fact their nitely prime rib buffet is still cheaper than the Excalibur
I have been wanting to checkout Southpoint for a bit now. Sadly on our next few trips in July and September our shooting schedule is looking rather packed, but I’m hoping to hit them up before this year is over. As far as Luxor goes… wish us luck! We’ll be hitting their buffet up in late July. Hopefully it’s not as disappointing as MGM Grand’s was. -James
It was definitely a standard buffet when we went too. Also very Shoney’s-esque. Just missing the French toast sticks. What day of the week did you go and roughly what time? We definitely went right when they opened and so there was no sushi and minimal options unfortunately. With your knowledge and expertise, is there a more fine dining buffet experience elsewhere? I feel like a buffet will always be limited in that capacity.
We went on a Sunday morning around 9:00am but it was over Memorial Day weekend so we paid the highest cost for this buffet ($39.99), so all opinions in the video are being based off the max price. If you are looking for a more higher end buffet. Both Caesars Palace and Wynn have more premium selections on their buffets and a premium price point (around $60 to $80). Some people prefer Wynn over Caesars but I cannot speak for the brunch comparison yet because we have only done Caesars Palace so far for brunch, but as far as dinner buffets which we have done both, I feel like Wynn “plays it safe” by not really seasoning their food - The options they offer are really impressive though but I felt like the food needs a bit more heat/seasoning, whereas Caesars Palace has a bit more flavor in their dinner options IMO (other people may have different opinions) But between those two, those are the two more premium buffet options on the strip. -Paul
I think with the price of a basic restaurant breakfast in Las Vegas, even at a Denny's or fast food joint these buffets (Luxor, MGM, Excalibur) can work if you eat smart. Especially since they also include your coffee, milk, juice etc. The average Denny's breakfast is approx. 16.00, each beverage about 4.00 each and you just get the one plate of food. At a buffet you get variety.
Thank you for watching and commenting ❤️ You are completely right. Even basic breakfasts elsewhere can run up a tab but if you hit this buffet on a MyVegas 2 for 1 deal or even on a lower priced weekday, it could be a great deal if smart about the items selected. While we didn’t make use of the omelette station in this video, that’s a big value right there and custom omelettes are often a decent value and quality. I will say this, quality as evidenced in the video can leave a bit to be desired but not all items were bad, nor were all items mind blowing. I felt a lot of them were “just OK” which isn’t always a bad thing. As James stated in the video, for the price point and what it is, neither of us felt “ripped off” for what we paid. We would totally come back for this buffet if we are staying at Excalibur and I still stand by saying this was better than the MGM Grand buffet. We will be staying at Luxor in July, so we have plans to review that one as well in the future. -Paul
That can definitely happen! I hate when it does. Normally I try not to take too much for that very reason, but I also abhor getting up and down over and over. -James
I'm proud of you guys for staying at Excalibur. We went into the hotel and food court to meet friends 3 years ago. It was disgusting and dirty, everywhere. I am surprised their buffet is actually clean. Because the rest of the hotel looks tired and abused.
Thanks for watching ❤️ Well we survived the Flamingo 🦩 and figured that it couldn’t get any worse than that, so if MGM was going to give us a 2 night comp offer for our play on the last trip, then we just had to stay and find out for ourselves if it’s as bad as we have heard. Plus it gave us the opportunity to make some fun Excalibur content out of it. So be on the lookout for some more Excalibur content on the channel soon ;) -Paul
Don't mind this buffet. Wouldn't go out of my way to eat here - just think it's a little overpriced if you aren't using a MyVegas 2 for 1. If you are staying at the south end of The Strip and want something realatively cheap - it's OK.
Food should always have seasoning. We are used to heavily seasoned food so when we try buffets it’s sometimes a challenge to separate ourselves from what we are used to versus a large dish that is made to appeal to a wider audience (which can sometimes sadly mean less seasoning). There were definitely hits and misses at this one, and some offerings were a miss while other items actually surprised us. For what it is at its price point. It serves the need for a basic buffet. And it’s by far much better than MGM Grand where the theme was “It’s Dry” - I would recommend this over MGM Grand’s buffet any day. But… for what it was, I would come back if I’m staying at Excalibur and just wanting the convenience of gorging on calories, but it’s nowhere near Bacchanal, Wynn, or Palms. Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoyed. -Paul
