Damn bro I have the same issue with my amg c32 when it get to a quarter tank empty it acts like there no fuel but the gauge still not all the way empty
I think you on to something about the tank not sitting all the way down cause this all started when a shop put in a new fuel pump assembly the right side. I changes fuel sending unit and rear fuse box but still same thing. The car has been really reliable tho other than that and I can dive it fine just when it get a quarter tank to empty that when it does the same thing as you c55 till I fill up again hope fully you fix it so I can too lol
