Stylistically Mercer is a DM who’s campaigns feel realistic, complex, and have a slow burn. Brennan’s feels like a whirlwind of shenanigans. I enjoy the contrast.

I don't get what the big deal is, the man wants his bones, who doesn't want their bones? I know I want my bones.

It is entirely in keeping with the evil aesthetic that the party forgets about the Zaul'nash ash that Leland still has and almost immediately jumps to murdering Declan in order to restore their master. Why sacrifice a beloved keepsake when you can use a perfectly good unwilling sacrifice? I love it!

I love how Leiland can excuse murder, but he draws the line at child labor

I love how Leiland has only two speeds: David Attenborough level calm and John Cleese level panic.

The guy had to stand for 250 years to keep from drowning. If he had no bones, he wouldn't be able to stand. If he can't stand, he drowns. Seems perfectly reasonable.

I love how this room full of improv comedy actors reacts in utter empathetic pain when they hear someone being called "the least funny person" someone ever met.

I'm almost positive that Brennen adds more syllables to the scary volcanos name every time he says it 😂

being aware that Brennan loathes doing shopping trips cause he doesn't know what the fuck to do and rps constantly insist on doing them makes this 1000 times funnier

I love that the series is called escape from the bloodkeep and Brennan CANNOT find a way to make them leave

Trapp doesn't get nearly enough credit for how hilarious his character is. I would love to see him in another campaign.

I love how all the Avanash stuff and all that happened was improv'd cuz Brennan never thought his characters would teleport there.

This idea of Rangers being dumpster hobos is the best thing ever.

I don’t know why, but Mike Trapp saying, “What about Declan?” Is the funniest shit ever. Declan’s demise is my greatest joy in Bloodkeep.

Everyone is talking about Avanash and his osteomania but nobody seems to be talking about “Me don’t know; me sells worms.”

I really wanted them to do an Int check to look for a blacksmith and him start with, “Well, you knew Deckland was an expert in blacksmithing” 🤣

Brennan is such a good DM. Maybe it's the editing but he runs with everything the players throw at him while still keeping them on track. 18/10

Matt mercer giving Brennan the DM sempai eye after the suit creation roll is the sweetest compliment a DM can get from a Player who understands what its like to be behind the screen

I'm gonna be honest. I found this because I saw Matt Mercer on the thumbnail for episode one (Critical role fan here) BUT I am seriously staying to watch for the amazing, energetic Brennan I love how much energy and laughs and smiles he brings to the game!

I love this episode so much, can't stop repeating 58:55 over and over... "WHAT IS CRAZY ABOUT WANTING YOUR BONES?!" So perfect 🤣

I actually choked on air when brennen said "what does this lady think she's a river?" Oh my actual graces.

I love how dice rolls in D&D often have a near celestial way of being poetic and appropriate to the lore/story being developed. It's a wonderful thing. (Also these 7 people are just straight excellent at narrative flow in the moment).

I think we can all agree that beige is to khaki as grey is to white, so if there's ever a "Return to the Bloodkeep", we know what to expect.

I'd like to think that when Leland opens up to Marcus about the whole "I too was in line for the throne" that it was because he sneaked a peak at Marcus earlier 😂😂

Matt Mercer sitting in rapt attention at another master DM making amazing scenes that are as nonsensical as they are awesome but also cutting his own clear delight short so he doesn't laugh over or cut off the other players or indeed Brennan is just lovely. The clear mutual respect is heartwarming. Edit; How did they all recover so quickly from "What is crazy about wanting your bones!?" I nearly died.

John Feathers is just the best.

I love Brennan's energy and passion! I do the same "insert positive incredulity" to re-center myself after my players slay me. Came mostly for the Mercer, staying and watching more for Brennan

Brennan's off the cuff description of the smelting process was simply insane. How? Just how did he know that was going to come up?! Did he just know how it works beforehand? Not Avanash, Brennan. Does Brennan Lee Mulligan have working knowledge of forging and smelting just running around in his mind palace? Daffuq man, he's amazing, simply amazing

I love Critical Role so fucking much but i dont think anything in the first two campaigns has made me laugh quite as hard as hearing Avanash muse about the potential loss of his bones for 20 minutes. I love it!!!!!!

I love the fact that Brennan started the ep by shaming them for not asking the eagle’s name, and when they do ask he just says “John Feathers” That and knowing that he knew they had befriended an eagle last ep and it was going to probably have to be a named reoccurring NPC and either didn’t bother to come up with something until someone asked or just fully decided this dude’s name is “John Feathers” like in advance

Dimension 20 games always have such fun family interactions. the dad focused on the ring was just so great and just everyone's reactions. what's great is matt breaks and is just laughing then goes back into character its fun to watch

I absolutely loved the Avanash conversation and my sides hurt from laughing! When he first asked if the river was going to take them, I completely lost it hahaha

From this day forward I can *never* watch any kind of hospital drama TV show, no more Scrubs, E.R., House M.D., nothing. I can't even watch the Magic School Bus. Anytime after watching this video I come into contact with even the thought of a skeleton I am going to think of this, and I will almost immediately laugh like a madman.
