ATTENTION: Ahem, Deep within the depths of the prison you mayhap upon a set of armor. Aught be quite the likeness of a Vernworth guard. Methinks they not fight amongst each other.
For the people wondering why you’re getting attacked by the guards, any further past the cell block, is restricted. You’re going too far into the prison which is why you’re getting locked up, stay within the cell block and you can basically walk right out with the magistrate without troubles like in the video, he only went into the cell block no further.
Word of advice. Theres a merchant in the check point town that will make a duplicate of the key for you for 5000G Once you give the key back youll still have the copy to use whenever you want.
Same here. Those guys threw me in those cells 3 times before I finally just reloaded the game. Not only that but one time I escaped and the WHOLE town started beating on me. I had no idea what was happening.
Who designed this mission, I'm stuck in jail as im a sorcerer so they just beat me into the ground repeatedly. Why is it every game these days has to put in a section designed to infuriate players? I can't help feeling theres some smug designers feeling pleased that he designed something this bad
I just walked in and the beat me up, tied me up, and stole my shit. I finally found the npc after fighting all the guards and he literally told me to piss off
Gotta use the uniform you find in the well. Put it on before you go in, makes you look like a guard. Also if you did get locked up, it's ok. Just break the wall by punching it, exit the sewer and you instantly get all your items back.
Not sure if it is just me but there is no way in hundred years i could have found the place with many books...talk to a random single person give them food do a kids search and so on.....this is just beginning for tutorial/walkthrough. If the idea is to imemers in the game they shouldnt have to make it so unreasonably hard so you need to interupt your game and check in youtube....this is not immersive....
If you sold the gaol key, Gifted it to someone or lost it you can get the key back at the scrap store in checkpoint rest town for 5000. Anytime you lose a story item you can get it here.
TY this made the quest so ezy i notice in comments some were attacked by guards. I was Fighter role the guards acted like they didn't notice me maybe that helped. Awesome vid TYTY
Man I think am screwed on this quest, I Tired to rescue the guy in the prison cell but was caught and I got thrown in jail, I escaped with the Key but everybody in the city attacking me and my pawns, Once I finally made it to this guy, He attacked me to and my Pawns killed him😫
I got sent to the Gaol or something and theres no Magistrate. Every time i leave my cell I get fucking SHIT STOMPED. Just stuck. Cant finish the quest or progress. Cant load an old save because this GOTY has ONE save file.
I love that there's so so so many ways to tackle this one quest ! we need more games like this that encourage out the box thinking and seeing what the mechanics allow ! absolutely no hand holding or babying players anymore !! TIME TO ENGAGE THOSE BRAINS
2:20 This guy named Kendrick attacked me without warning. He accidentally kiled by my pawns, but I couldn't find his body. Then, I found it at Vermund Charnel House 1st or 2nd basement floor and revived it there
@@ConCon Not so much when you were attacked by the guards first in the cell and made it out then the entire place where he is at will attack you including him, it was a mess
After I did this quest, guards and NPCs in that city are hostile to me.. I got spotted in the jail and kicked the guards a few times before running away. Then when I completed it some beastins were talking to one of those nuns about how their son isn’t getting better, immediately after that dialogue ended the two beastins started attacking me for seemingly no reason and my pawns killed them. I brought them back to life on the spot. But now it seems like the whole city wants to light me up :( Does anyone know what I can do about this lol
You can find noble clothes in the house of the noble district, the knight set when you first enter the palace for a mission there's a loot box with it. There's a mission where some dude is tailing you grab him confront him kill him and after you kill him revive him. Brant will take him into custody and later on while progressing the quest line you'll get a battahl permit the dude had. It comes very useful later on.
To everyobe wondering why the npc,s are attacking u its because u dont have a disguise. Theres a sef of vernwerth armour in the well / sewer next to the gaol. Equip all of that armor and u should be good. U might have to leave the area iglf fuards are chasingnu however. Maybe even go to the title screen
@matthewstef7441 I was able to figure it out by doing the disa sneak mission first. The guard lets u into a room with a set of the armour for that quest that u can use to walk around the castle undetected. I don't think it's that hard to understand, but I get why people are struggling with the quest if they do it before the sneak mission.
@@fishman5618 yeah the fact that this quest is dependent on two seemingly unrelated sidequests is crazy… DD1 wasn’t like that at all from my experience at least.
@@fishman5618 also I was actually lucky because I found it in the shop beforehand. I bought it because of nostalgia reasons (idk why but the set of armor from the first game just looked cool compared to other armor) In DD1 I even dragonforged that armor.
@@ConCon it’s all good now, I had to leave the town and do a different quest, when I came back I had to revive the guy after finding his coffin in the place near, he was happy to talk to me after that
Pleaee help... I found the magistrate originally about maybe 10 to 12hrs in. Did a bunch of other stuff cause I wasnt sure where his location with tomes might be, even tried looking in places in Batthal. Anyways, I did this quest with the wee boy, found the place full of books about maybe 35hrs into my playthrough give or take? Stormed my way back into the dungeon to finally tell the magistrate I found a place for him. Only, he's not there. There's a key on the floor of his cell, and the door was open. Where in the blue hell could he have gone!?!? No quest marker tells me where he is. He's potentially dead or hiding in the world some place. Is it mayhaps because I took too long to do his quest or is he just a loose cannon and does wtf he wants!?
@ConCon Found out what happened. Dragonsplague. Every single NPC I needed to progress was dead with not enough wakestones to res them all. Had to start a new game 😞 44hrs wasted lol I got to Battahl a different way. Brant was dead before I could complete the caged magistrate along with the magistrate himself, the oracle, and a bunch of other named NPCs who, after looking at various Wiki's, are vital to the rest of the story. I couldn't res them all 😞
Maybe you got caught or something, try wearing a guards armor as disguise. I got lucky I guess, didn't know they would attack because I didn't get attacked
So Kendrick isn’t in that spot. I’ve waited many days and still he doesn’t spawn at that location. I thought maybe I might have killed him so I went to the morgue and spent the 5k to revive a body and there were only two females npc’s there. I’m lost at what to do. Also I’ve been going to Kendrick’s spot in the day as well. Nobody is there
I finished with the library, but when I went back to the cell... the guy was dead. He's at the Vermund Charnel House, I paid 5k, slept for a weak... and he's still dead. But the objective is active. What can I do?
What happens if you kill the guy you’re supposed to give food to? I meet with him and he immediately attacked me and my pawns killed him what should I do
I’m over this game from this one quest. Was having a lot of fun until this. The whole town practically keeps running after me and the guy you say to talk to wants to kill me also.
Well, I got attacked and my guys just started blasting every moving thing. We ended up killing the NPC (among many others) and getting soft locked :( I just loaded the last inn save which was hours ago so... Will need to start this over
I bought a set of soldier armor set from potion store and dress it. No creepy music when I get to the jail. I just backed from volcano island and bought most of the gear from volcano camp. I can kill all of guard but I dont want to hurt any NPC😅.
Please i need helpp i enter the prison and the guard start beat me up, i then cast the flame spell into them accidently hit the prisoner now he refuse to talk to me and just keep punching me. Will the mission complete if i burn him down😭😭😭
My problem isn’t getting attacked in the prison I get attacked in the slums and can’t talk to Kendrick and cannot advance the quest, changed outfits and done everything I get attacked every time and I’m about to drop the game if nobody can help me
Disguise doesn't work, I have all the pieces but they attack on sight. Can't even unlock the door to the prison before all of Vernworth authorities attack me. Ended up killing all the guards in the prison then talking to the Magistrate.
Yes… to an extent. I did the prison bit, and then spent the next 30 minutes fighting people/guards that aggro’d onto me for no reason afterwards. Even Malcom did for some reason. Fortunately they seemed to stop when I entered the marketplace area.
@@Skydron oh I cleared the quest. I was curious if I would be hunted by soldiers because of what happened. The answer seems to be no, escape the jail and crime is forgotten.
I was doing this quest after being attacked by the girl guard on the steps to get into the castle or whatever and all the npc’s kept attacking me (I had to leave town and do some other shit for a while for that to reset it seems). During the attacks my pawns killed the priest, Kendrick, turns out if you kill a quest giver npc they stay dead. You have to go to the morgue and revive him to continue.
I left the cell too escape in look for this place well while leaving I was walking by the church a fight broke out and I think some how the priest got killed I made a few days past and went and did other stuff but he still won't show back up anyway too fix this
How come my pawn took me different way then what you showed and I’m locked in a dungeon and having heck of a time figuring this out. If I pay the bribe to get out, the whole town attacks so what do I do from locked dungeon?
@@catandrobbyfloresI kept getting attacked, arrested, jailed lol. Only way I found out of it was to resummon pawns, reequip gear, Kill 40 town folk, then I left town and did another mission. Returned to talk to guy in front of church who finally talked to me instead of attacking me. No merchants in the square though to sell me anything lol.
@johnkessner5775 that stinks! I found a guard outfit in the well in front of the place, put it on and had no trouble. Try that next time instead of mass murder.
@@ConCon ah cheers yh dunno how i lost it i did the first part of the quest where you talk to him and then went off and did some other stuff and when i went to free him to take him to the hidden library the key was no longer in my inventory or my storage
🤦🏿♂️ I used 3 keys so far. I hate how this mission is set up because I got in his cell and bro just refused to leave. Had to go find the library and now here I am sitting here dumb because I need a new key to open the cell and on top of that the guy is sold out of keys in melve 😂
For me the bishop guy you have to talk to doesnt exist. I run around the slums all day and night and its like he is dead 😢 i just started exploring the map early and just mucked around. Finished the sphinx stuff and decided to come back and do some main quests. Guess thats my fault for letting thr world run uts course. No idea whats happened to the guy
The quest design of this game is actually painful. I'm just not having fun. None of these quest solutions are intuitive. I would never have figured this stuff out. Literally never.
Got caught a couple times cause you can’t fight back once they get close. But after the second time. The whole entire town and everyone else just kept attacking me even tho I didn’t have any of my gear because of getting caught a previous time… I like the game but this shit is just dumb when I just want to prof the story.

Throw this game in the trash. The amount of unnecessary drawn out BS to do for anything simple is ridiculous. Not to mention constantly being forced to play dress up for a mission or sit on a bench because it's the wrong time of day. Maybe they thought this adds realism? 🗑️ 🗑️ 🗑️
