Caiman Creek just continues to offer up joyous surprises... from Marge climbing the fence to move in with Lucifer to the eggs being found all over the smooth front enclosure. Happy to see the Red foot tortoises are all still enjoying their summer camp with unlimited weeds to eat. And now, a glorious Rain Shower ! Fred would be so proud and happy !!!
We can always count on Kenan to not only teach us about caiman care/husbandry but also throw in a little American history with that G. Gordon Liddy and WATERGATE reference.
At least you guys are getting rain!! We haven't had a single good flash flood this year on the Niangua River in Mo, so it's so low in some spots that I can't kayak without getting out and dragging the boat.😅
I'm not going to pretend to be any sort of expert, but I think a better sign of their being happy with their environment would be the eggs getting laid in a nest, as they would in their natural environment. I really don't know. I think the reason might not be discontentment rather the eggs aren't fertile. Like I said, not an expert... Just a theory from an expert couch RU-vid critic.
It might be helpful to mark the date on individual eggs, since there will probably be more. You need to know when they are due to hatch and which side is up.
Kenan, if you're buying your sphagnum moss from the pet store you can save some money by buying it from a hardware store like Lowe's or Home Depot. It's the same thing but cheaper because it's not being marketed as a pet product. In general, when you have identical items and one is marketed for a hobby (plastic models, crafting, pets, etc.) and the other is for general use, the one for the hobby trade is almost always more expensive.
Kenan you truly are the GOAT and my hero i try to help as many reptile owners I can with the knowledge I have gained from you. I want to help the people and mostly the animals.
Hey Kenan awesome super siked for the Caimen eggs that rocks!! Definitely Fred has a hand in this. He is proudly looking over you 💯 he knew his animals were going to the right place❤
How wild was that to catch that Basilisk in mid meal haha. This video is such a great example how your property is set up in such a naturalistic way that everything thrives as they would if they were in the wild!!! Torts eating mango off the ground…. All those eggs 😮😮😮…. Wild, invasive lizards catching lunch 😂😂. I’m so jealous!!! What a cool set up u have, I’m so glad I’ve been able to watch everything develop over the years!
Heya @Kenan ! So, I know I wasn't the one who smelled the eggs, but just thought I'd let you know that caiman eggs do start to stink naturally. It's reminds me of the smell of like... a bad pastry. It's kind of a rancid butter kinda grossness. We love them, though, so it's hard to judge how the eggs smell. Again, you are the one who is in there smelling this stuff and you know what bad eggs smell like. I always think that smell is really specific. There's not much else that stinks like bad eggs. Anyway, great video! I'm always keeping up with ya my dude. You should go hug some camels soon and collab with your boy Chandler some more. lol
Great video Kenan. Quick question, what kind of head bulbs do you use/recommend. I have trouble getting quality product in my area and half of what i can get delivered comes damaged/defective.
Just watched your video updates and those eggs look like they will have babies, yes I'm crossing my fingers as well😊. It would be cool to see them hatch, those baby turtles are so cute. It's always cool to see how things are going at the kamp, I always laugh so hard when you make fun sounds and voices, because I'm the same way. Love seeing your family just having a great chill day. Sending you and your family lots of love and respect. I can't wait to see more fun and interesting updates.
You guys should really snatch up those baby sulcata hatchlings i just got mine from the kamp yesterday and it's wonderful!!!! It's really good to know that you're getting a tortoise from someone that has that much love for animals and not just someone who is mass producing eggs to make money
I'm here! Better late than never. I think the caiman needs more stuff in there to scratch up a nest. Best of luck tho. Hoping to see some baby caiman catching in a couple months or so.
Do infertile crocodilian eggs look like other reptile slugs ? Because those looked fine to me but candling them should help you tell if they are fertile or not
Just wondering to help you out with Slinky accommodation, will it be safe to put few Red Footed Tortoises in his accommodation so they can eat the plants, so you don’t need to used a simmer in there to cut down the plants, like with the caiman creek or will he attack them?
Use to have a baby specticled caiman back when I was 17 was definitely fun to keep for awhile eventually had get rid of it but was fun while it lasted never had any the new ones I see now had some opportunities to get some or moreletts crocodile babies but ya don't have the room for then even though it would be amazing to have
Do you see a ring on the eggs or have you candle 🕯 them with them being layed all over the place i dont thing they are fertile. She has zerro interest to protect them
I’d love to get a couple RedFoots! But I don’t want to breed them and when I emailed you about getting a few females, you let me know they are hard to sex when they’re so young. How old are they before we can tell who’s who?🐢❤️
Hey, I just wanted to give my two cents on the eggs. You hit it on the head with how you incubat the eggs with what they need. You should dig a hole as much as you can. 4 feat wide mabey three deep . Then lay a few inches of gravel. Then, backfill with compost, the decomposing waste will create what she wants to lay her eegs in.
Great egg hunt! You'll get plenty of practice for Easter. Hopefully they'll hatch not get dyed. Sorry, couldn't resist the pun. I could keep on, but it would not egg-xactly be right to do that. OK that was bad. I'll stop.
No hate at all just outside looking in i feel like the hobby doesn’t need anymore sulcatas like where do they all go so many produces eat year and they require so much space
