@maymakvm no the past doesnt change anymore from youngsook's point of view, she was already warned by the older seoyeon and already killed the stepmom. Probably she didnt kill her because she had to know the details to prevent the life sentence in prison
@maymakvm the history wont rewrite itself, after she gets warned abt her stepmom and kills her if she kills younger seoyeon she wont go back when her mother was still alive
@maymakvm i think the time line are only two, the past lived by the young youngsook and the present lived by the old seoyeon. The young YS is the one who can change the future, if ever she killed the younger SY after she was warned about her stepmom, she wouldnt go back time when her stepmom is still alive...
The movie was actually good. Can’t believe it wasn’t that popular. I was so stressed watching the killer get her way and wouldn’t think twice on killing her victims. 🤧
@@LunaMoon-qz8km I expected her that twist when Young Sook says she'll save Seo Yeon's dad from kitchen fire. You can see how her lips twitch lmao, I was so scared that I doubted her from the beginning 😭
this movie puts in shame all the American "horror" "thriller" I've seen in the last 10 years. I've never felt so satisfied after watching a film, if I was in the movie theater I would be clapping non-stop!
Do praise a movie, but dont criticise a whole film industry, just because you couldnt find or seen one with your preferences.same went with parasite, it wasnt that great, story just the same with many came before for ages, highs and lows of the society and stuff, just because parasite was different, odd acting. Its those who hasnt seen much films from a certain language and sees one good one , comes to those exaggerated conclusion, this movie,it wasnt that great, just flashy. i do watch korean movies too, and many of the great classics ones too. Also. The wailing was wayyyyy better than this.just because its a different acting, arrogant face, doesnt say its a good acting
At that time she was grateful and wanted to help her friend, she only discovered she was a psycho killer later. If you could save a stranger in front of you, without risking your life, most people would do it instead of watching them die.
I think there was a better idea, kill the stepmother, bury her, hide the evidence, ask her to sell the house to her family and then help the girl out financially by having her invest or do some gambling. Everyone is happy!
@@davesauce9039 nah police ain’t gonna listen to a child. They’ll side with the adult before they side with a child. It could’ve been a fucked up Back to the Future scenario. Help her win bets in big sporting events and she’ll be living large.
The shaman stepmother was actually right about predicting the murderous character and future of the mentally ill daughter. She was actually trying to help her with her shaman magic and expel evil from her. I think the she did not create evil in her daughter but tried to cure her, till she realized that all her methods failed and finally tried to kill her to prevent deaths and suffering from happening.
But what i think is that her mother's torcher made her mentally unstable . Or She had some multiple disorder issue and her mothers used her traditional exorcism to treat that.
SPOILER ALERT!!!! Do u know what if her mother didn’t tried to kill her, she wouldn’t have been a serial killer think about that as well. She had to kill everyone because she killed her mom which lead her to kill everyone else.
She literally destroyed her "fine" life because of changing her past. Indeed, something happens for a reason and regret is always realized when it's too late.
This is literally one of the best movies i have seen in years like who comes up with such a unique story line and everything was just perfect and the ending literally killed me i was in shock for a whole minute
Not sure if anyone said this but I think it's alternate realities and the protagonist is jumping realities every time something is changed Reason: mom has tumor, suddenly doesn't Killer has a scar that is never explained. If she got it during the fall how is she able to come back and tell her younger self about her"death"
Netflix you never failed to choose park shin hye movie even the drama because of her good acting skills. It will never be flop any of her drama she is so amazing...
Yes The Queen Park shin hye is so excellence acting it was amazing actress absulotely perfect thumps up from me unni shin hye We love you idol You are the best and graet actress ❤💖💞💖❤🌹🌷😇🖒👍👌👌👏👏👏👏
Stephanie Soo's latest Baking a Mystery brought me here. Even though I felt like I watched the entire movie just by listening to her phenomenal retelling skills, this movie just sounded so twisted but good that I still want to watch it anyway. Edit: Have now watches it twice, one of them being last week (10 months after the original comment). Love this movie and so has everyone I've recommended it to. Definitely one of my favourites now, what a trip!! 🤯🤩
Imagine being such a good actress that even in her interview she looks like a legit crazy girl, Jeom Jong-seo is such an amazing actress and the way she got into the character of Young-sook is just amazing and full of talent. 👏🏼👏🏼
I still not get over it if Seo yeon pretend to be didn’t know and don’t tell Young sook for what happen in her future I think Seo yeon would have a better life and her father also still alive
Because that's a typical main character-ish thing. Lol. I guess they did it because it makes the movie more interesting (but also makes the character stupid. That's the downside) I agree though. She shouldn't have tell her. She didn't thought of the consequence of her action first before making that call and cutting her line.
@@seh1222 the movie has an open ending. You see the main caracter walking away with her mother who is vanishing and appearing, something like a glitch. At the end we don't know if her mom is still there or not💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
Wonderful movie. Very underrated. The character of Yeoung Sook is awesome. I feel both sorry for and disgusted at her. She kept giving me goosebumps with her cruelty towards everyone and her ways of getting away. This creation deserves more recognition.
@@user-kf4bn3sv6w It's during the credits scene. I don't want to give you spoilers but watch it till the very end. You will see some scenes in the middle which is the biggest twist of this movie
(spoiler alert for other people) They met on the phone, the killer helped save Seo Yeon's dad so Seo Yeon wanted to help her back cuz who wouldn't want to and she didn't know she's gonna be a frikin killer. It is kinda sad though cuz the killer was nice enough to help a stranger when her own "mom" was abusing her, then she really lost it.
One of the best thriller time traveling film. I've watched as of late. The plot was interesting, and unlike some other time slip stories I've seen. And Park Shin Hye and Jeon Jong Seo are outstanding! Park Shin Hye's acting went from one emotion to the other with much ease. While Jeon Jong Seo was brutal, tormenting you to bits. Overall, this movie was outstanding.
@@yaprak8159 in the end, the main character and her mom used the phones as a single team to rewrite the future. However, before the mom and police actually arrive at the house, the killer who is alive in the present due to the main character's help, calls the past Youngsook and warns her she might die during this encounter because she already lived through it. So the serial killer past and present are also working as a single team to rewrite the future. When the girl falls off the 2nd floor, the future is good because she is unconscious and once she wakes up she can heed the future killer's warning.
The mom and dad died at the end.. The killer went back to kill her mom so in the present the mom disappeared. Now the past and present self of the killer are communicating and are getting away from getting caught. The past killer could've killed the girl in the past at the end Cuz she was still captured.
@@xero3491 spoiler yeah those police should have take a hint when 2 person went missing (police and mom) after visiting seo yeon house, i guess those police are stupid 😂. that murderer didnt die (hint by she open eyes when fall because the murderer kept phone with her so ,seo yeon cant call her mom and anticipate killing, means murderer success in killing her mom not falling).
@@xero3491 also think this way that those timeline goes along with every hour and day, by the time seo yeon was with her mom walking, the change timeline didnt happened yet, so thats why mom suddenly disappear and seo yeon still in house.
It’s mad how Jun Jung Seo literally ha no acting experience 😵 , she just joined an agency and won a role prior to this .....she’s literally the definition of a natural talent , incredible performance 🔥🔥🔥🔥
You know the movie is good when it sparks really good discussion on the trailers about the entire thin, particularly the ending. I don't understand why people want a sequel though, open ended movies are okay as well. Let our imaginations play with it, we don't need every single detail to be spoon-fed to us.
The ending makes no sense, it's like they forgot their entire plot. How the hell she calls from present to past and tells herself that she dies. She can't be in the present to see that she died.... what a dumb writer and director. 😂
I don't watch horror movies, so I was a chicken going into this one. I LOVE the director. He's SO GOOD at walking a tightrope between "enough" and "too much" with the horror. It's not a graphic film. It's grotesque and frightening but leaves a lot to the imagination. For me, that "house full of fridges" scene was perfection. The implications were terrifying. AND WOW DID THE ENDING EVER MAKE ME MAD!!!
i literally rewatched that movie before the call omg i think god's sending me a sign lol... i haven't had any significant deaths in my lifetime yet tho
Found this movie on accident on Netflix and loved it! I was looking for another movie and was disappointed it wasn’t there, but because of it I found this movie and it completely outshined whatever I wanted to watch anyway! It’s really good
This movie gives a whole new twist to a type of time travel in a way, one way lol. It was tense and had me thinking what if, i mean you cant do much but they can do a lot to you. Leaves you helpless really. I am finding that the south korea film makers are doing a better job than most western filmmakers when it comes to the dark twist and terror type movie.
Its better with them second ending, letting us play with our imaginations. Without the second ending, its only 6/10 for me because some scenes could be avoided if she used her common sence, 8/10 for the second ending.
@@msal9602 i don’t think it wasn’t unnecessary suspense. Or suspense for that matter. The altered ending was a result of older Young-Sook creating a separate timeline with younger Young-sook and getting inbetween younger Young-Sook and Seo-Yeon’s timeline.
@@kyupified2440 i agree that the protag's naivety is frustrating. if seoyeon at one point just stop calling youngsook, wouldn't the past occur similarly to her present's past? i should rethink about the rating.
the villain Jeon Jong Seo, what a performance! I was like so freak out by her but then can't get over how good the acting is! I was mind-blown by the story and her acting skills. CAST THIS LADY EVERYONE!
The plot is similar to the movie Moments of love: same home, 50 yrs apart, telephone calls, plane crash, but a beautiful love story. While this one is mind-blowing thriller in so many levels.
yes sis nakita ko rin similarities sa idea ng film esp. yung plane crash saka yung nag-baon yung killer ng snacks sa lupa then kinuha nung bida haha. parang may binaon din si iza calzado na something sa moments of love tas kinuha ni dingdong.
The lady who played as the meta serial killer here was also the lady from Burning, thats some wild acting right there. The acting is amazing, I legit hated the serial killer and felt soooo bad for the protagonist. What a movie
(Spoiler alert) To the ones who didn’t understand what happened in the end.. before the mother and the police officer arrived the killer called herself from the futur and told her younger self that the mum and the police officer are coming and that she’s going to die tonight so she have to be careful and keep the phone with her so she can change things because she’s already in the futur and can tell her younger self everything that happed... so the killer didn’t die from the fall and actually killed the mom and captured the little girl and tortured her until she becomes an adult Look carefully at the end in the walking scene of the mother and the daughter how the mother disappears after the woke up of the killer from the fall ( she killed her ) And the grave she was crying next to is her father’s ( read the numbers on it ) With the help of her future self she got away with multiple murders all these years ( look at the amount of fridges she have and the stolen purses )
@@daidai1048 No, she was out until she was 28 and lived with her mum.. her dad died when she was a kid in a fire accident, she basically lived a normal life until the phone thing happened and the killer changed the past multiple times because she live in the past and can kill or save lives and that automatically changed the future.. the last change on the main character’s life was when she was a kid when the killer killed both her parents and and captured her and tortured her for years and years until she becomes an adult.. the film ends here )
For the ppl saying it didnt have a good ending.. that type of thing is common and they obviously have a second movie with better ending or a non stop film series

@@FSportuguese - they’re so good at this craft specifically, even their kdramas are movie-like as well. (this doesn’t only include romance, you can find thrillers like these)
I just finished watching the movie now. AND WOW what a roller-coaster. That was amazing. The actress portraying the psycho did an amazing job . Same for Park Shin Hye. They were both very convincing. If you are wondering whether to watch it or not. Just do it :)
The protagonist & the villain are the same person. ✅ She did NOT lose her cell phone in the beginning, as shown by her computer GPS, which showed the cell phone location to be exactly where she was. In the entire movie, she was simply calling herself with the cordless phone to her own cell phone. The director left several clues. The scars that were on her leg was the same in the present, irregardless of how she got them, either by the original fire that killed her dad OR when the villain scarred her with boiling water. She also described to her mom how to kill someone with the fire extinguisher, something only the killer would know. Remember the real killer did not reveal to her about the fire extinguisher. Even if she did save her dad, her mom would still have died of brain tumor. So the alternative future she created was imagined by herself. Both protagonist & killer could NOT drive. Both protagonist & killer were 28 years old. Both protagonist & killer loved strawberry. Both hated their moms. The time capsule she buried was for herself. The police that got slashed also highlighted the killer suffered from multiple personalities disorder. The ending confirmed this when it was revealed she was tied up, not the killer. I might rewatch the movie for even more clues, but there's so many epic movies on Netflix LOL 🤣 👍
@@daijoubu4529 ICYMI, many Korean psychological thrillers use (or overuse) this Multiple personalities (like "Fight club". I got this theory from a forum? After rewatching the scenes with clues, I'm convinced lol. 😂 The car & GPS, I can still remember! Found some clues myself (future PSH told her mom to use fire extinguisher as a weapon). I still think the director could have done better in the clues. Reading the comments here, it's like 95% audience don't get it, including myself. I wanna rewatch full movie, but Netflix has endless new shows haha!
Ok just watched this movie. This never striked to me anywhere while watching because so curious to know what will happen next. Btw you must be a detailed person.

This is one of the better movies on time I've seen in a long time. The 2 actresses were very good and very natural. The storyline was better than any US ones. To have to relive atrocious events twice over is well beyond reality. Creative plot for sure! We must all learn to move on. Thanks.
Netflix should promote this one ..... got stumbled and then stunned .... A marvelous creation .... Can't move for a second !!! Hats off to both lead actresses
@@Hisherly i believe at the end the mom was still alive in the past after she fell so she was at the graveyard in the present. but when her and her daughter started walking away, in the past the killer woke up as well. and then she killed the mom, which is why she faded away while walking at the end.
Just watch that the next movie there will be cops behind the killer and realized that the daughter is in the chair. But the movie is 10/10 trust me ok it's confusing but once you get it's sooooo great
I need ending explanation for this movie. To me it's already ended with a relieved until 'f*ck you' it show different twist. I felt miserable after that.

Just finished watching this movie and all i can say is 10/10 from storytelling twist and turns, cinematography and the lead actresses are damn good i suggest everyone to watch this movie and i hope hollywood dont have to remake this. It reminds me of the series DARK
Finally, the wait is now almost over! We can finally see Park Shin Hye's movie! it looks really good, i hope it'll be able to get in the Netflix ranking.
If only Park Shin Ye did not ask if the Past girl killed the mother and the strawberry guy, let pass time until the past girl got caught by the police. Then this could have a happier ending. Stupid at decision making.
Hey can you explain to me the ending, how can she call her past self. How is she even alive in future because she had to be alive to grow up and warn her younger self but didnt she fall and die
Are you kidding? Korean movies are FAR better than American movies. Nine out of ten Korean actors are phenomenal. Hollywood only has Tom Cruise. Where have you been the last 10 years?
it’s beautiful I’m still rewatching this movie til this day because of the actor who played yoong sook really gives me chills. she’s the perfect villain it’s a little confusing, sure, but the acting and cinematography really makes up for it
The ending makes no sense, it's like they forgot their entire plot. How the hell she calls from present to past and tells herself that she dies. She can't be in the present to see that she died.... what a dumb writer and director. 😂
The real lesson here is make sure you don't leave your phone at the train or anywhere. If she hadn't lost her phone, she probably wouldn't have used that cordless phone in the first place. 😅
SPOILER There's a theory that maybe it's all the imagination of Seo Yeon since she was the ones that turned back on the stove and blaming it on her mom for her father's death. She might make up the situation on her mind to ease the guilt. At one scene Yeong Sook called her pathological liar. Just a theory
I our life, sometimes tragedy happens. We never forget the pain, & always think that if we could change that. If we could change that past life would be more happy. But, every event is a lesson, it makes us a better person. It's like stairs, we have step on every stair to go to the end. Many things happened to me, broke my heart many times, lost many persons, friends, failures. I wanted to change everything. But, now, I'm happy that those things happened to me. Those events made me more passionate & humble. I've found the love of my life. Thank you God❤️
