Initially, Chaucer planned to include 120 stories in this book. There are 30 characters in the Canterbury tales, 29 pilgrims, who were going to St Thomas Beckett's shrine in Canterbury, and a narrator. All of them makes a stop at Tabbard inn whose host Harry Bailey proposes a story contest, and suggest that each pilgrim may tell four stories during their journey and he will reward the best story.
Chaucer wrote this poem in London Dialect of middle English. His contemporaries, the Pearl Poet, William Langland and John Gower were also writing in English, yet Latin was the still in use.
In this video, we offer a summary of The Canterbury Tales. We discuss the major stories of the Canterbury Tales. These include The Knight's Tale, Reeve's Tale, The Prioress Tale, The Nun Priest Tale, the Wife of Bath's Tale. Along with that, we also discuss the major characters of the Canterbury Tales. These were Knight, Squire, Yeomen, Monk, Prioress, Nun Priest, Miller, Summona, Reeve, Carpenter, Clerk, Wife of Bath and Parson.
Chaucer describes the characters of 27 pilgrims, but he didn't describe the character of Nun Priest and the second nun in this book.
The major characters of The Knight's Tale of the Canterbury Tale are Arctire and Palamon of Thebes who were imprisoned by King Theseus of Athens.
Reeve tells a story of a dishonest and arrogant miller and how two students of College take revenge on him.
Wife of Bath discusses the situation of women in society. She tells the story of a Knight who raped a maiden and to atone his sin, he was sent to search for the answer posed by the queen.
Prioress tells the story of a Jewish quarter.
The nun priest tells the story of Chanticleer, a roaster. It is a beast fable and it offered a direct moral message.
This summary of The Canterbury Tales is meant to help students preparing for their NET, JRF, and other pre-Ph.D entrance tests and exams of various universities.

I started tapping my pen to keep your rhythm off pen tapping. Glad for the summary though. I'm way too lazy to actually read the book, I will in time, but for now this was a good summary.
