The Capcom Showcase 2023 was Concerning - Mega Man X Dive Offline and the state of Mega Man X 

just so everyone knows, 2/3 of the "900+" levels are just harder versions of other levels. not even different layouts, just bigger stats for the mobs

It was heart breaking that last year was Mega Man's 35th anniversary and they utterly ignored it...This year is Mega Man X's 30th anniversary and the fact that apparently all we're gonna get is a rerelease of a gacha game is super depressing.

Mega Man X8 was far from perfect, absolutely, but I believe it was somewhat on the right track. I feel like an X9 could really give the X series the boost it deserves

I'm absolutely in the minority here, but one thing I'd love see released is some sort of "extras" legacy collection or something, filled with the more obscure titles for the classic series. Like MegaMan soccer, Powered up, Battle n Chase, Super Adventure Rockman, a few of the gameboy games, etc.

It is really cool they're releasing an offline version of this, but I'm so annoyed Mega Man is STILL on the back burner despite the success of 11. I love their Legacy Collections, but goddamn give me a new game already.

Battle Network series has an actual ending, while X8 ended in a huge cliffhanger. Come on Capcom, give us X9 already.

The offline version will allow people to play with whoever they want with less restrictions so that’s a win for me especially when this is the only official game where I can play as Bass EXE and his other forms while in the actual battle network games he’s unfortunately not playable.

the thing about x dive being offline might actually be a good thing: the floodgates are now open for modding.

This is probably just a coincidence but: Megaman Legacy Collection 1/2 were a big success - we got Megaman 11 Megaman X Legacy Collection 1/2 were a success - we got Megaman X Dive Megaman Z/Zx Legacy Collection sold less than previous collections - we got nothing? Since Battle Network Collection sold a good as it did we can probably expect something related to that sub-franchise, maybe not a new game because the series ended but maybe something like Star Force Collection.

Xdive is mostly fun, but as an X fan I gotta take what I can get. Still eagerly anticipating corrupted.

So let me get this straight, Mega Man X has been in Hult since Mega Man X8 (which keep in mind, came out in 2005), we haven't heard of Mega Man since Megaman 11 in 2018 five years ago and the Mega Man Legends series still yearns a Mega Man Legend 3 due to its cliffhanger, so instead making an all new Mega Man game like Megaman 12, Mega Man X9 or even Mega Man Legends 3, Capcom decided to make a Spin-Off on a Mobile Devise that no one's gona wanna play??? This makes me ask a very simple question: What the fuck was Capcom drinking when they decided to make this?

Let me clarify how the gameplay is, since you said you weren't sure: first and foremost, all versions have controller support. My understanding is that the game is based on the Maverick Hunter X engine, and so moving your character feels like you'd want it to for an X game. While it does have some features to help make it easier to play with the touch controls, like the auto-aim from X7, full-sized jumps regardless of how long you hold the button in, and auto-charge for charge shots, you can toggle all that off from the menu for a more pure experience (though the enemy placement is designed with the auto-aim in mind, and auto-charge is useful because you can shoot and charge at the same time). The only thing movement-wise that really feels different is a lack of knockback and contact damage, though they somewhat mitigate this with stun-damage. Your weapons do have auto-recharging ammo, but you carry two of them and can bring any combination of busters, sabers, and a variety of other weapon types that Axl would normally use, so it's not really an issue, and better weapons make it an even smaller issue.

Let's face it, Capcom simply doesn't give a crap about Mega Man. The only way we'll start getting good Mega Man content again is if someone makes a spiritual successor...kinda like Mighty No. 9, but good.

I tried X Dive, but that's not my type of game at all. I'm not a fan of Auto-Aim in my Megaman nor a Semi-limited amount of X Buster shots, but I do not went far in the game. Maybe it get better. And I agree a 100%. Capcom is possibly setting a new standard for Mobile gacha games by keeping the game alive with an Offline version and in my opinion, that's incredible. I really hope the game get rid of most micro transactions tho. And if they do, I'll give another chance to X Dive.

This game is way more about the online element and raids. Maybe pvp if you can get over the net code. Not much interest in x dive offline, but the assets can be used for something great.

I don't know if you are serious or not. Capcom makes a ton of stuff beyond just Megaman. Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, Dragon's Dogma, Monster Hunter...

bro. there's NO microtransactions, anyone who told u they're in game is trippin balls. the whole point of offline = no gacha element, not even capsule system, it's on their main page, all chars r unlocked thru story/memories.

Unknown X did it earlier with Danmaku Kagura, and I trust them more than I trust Capcom.

I feel Mega Man 11 was ONLY made as a response to the failure of Mighty #9...we can do it better situation to crap on Keiji Inafune hence why we never got a MM12 to this day. X Dive was CAPCOM's middle finger to Keiji Inafune to turn X series into a souless Gatcha game. 🤣🤣🤣 Definitely a Vile fan but sad they didn't add Double in this gatcha game......at least Magma Dragoon is in it.

Nah, I would've renamed the game to Mega Man X NiNE. I haven't played DiVE because it's a lootbox mobile game and I hate those with a passion, but if they've axed the lootboxes and microtransactions altogether then I might give this one a try. Actually, I wonder what the modding scene could be like.

I really think that x8 has some problems, but as um progress it one of the best and most fun megaman x game of all time. On new game + you have all your upgrades and you can make your run way faster and funnier than the previous one. Zero is great to play at, with a lot a great weapons and techniques. Axl weapons are great at this game and x is awesome with that armor. It is kind ugly but it is awesome to use 😂😂 X8 suppose to be the REAL megaman x to ps2 if it was maybe we still have some releases. X7 just fuck all up. X8 is better than x5, x6 and x7. And i think that is more fun to play than x3.

Honestly? I don't have as much of a problem with this. In a world with endless sequels, remakes and more, it's nice to see a franchise sit quietly with just an inoffensive gacha having gacha elements removed. I'd definitely take this over a soulless SNES-styled throwback. An X8-esque game would be a curiosity, but I feel like X8 is the worst direction the mainline X series have ever went into, so I won't be the target audience if that happens. And that's fine, I suppose.

Capcom doing this is fairly predictable. I tried X Dive, the graphics and music are great. The story is neat. But the controls are kinda crummy and the gameplay was just ok. No mobile game has won me over yet, not even Mega Man. I'd totally buy a cd of the soundtrack though.

Make x9 16bit SNES style and you have gold. Done.. Thats all we want.

Mega Man X definitely deserves more than what he got with X7 and X8, especially with the former being the piece of trash that it still is to this day.

Mega Man X8s biggest problem was too much forced motion level design and combat rooms. Whether auto scrollers or elevators they had too much of it. I like the X series as a platformer series and I think others agree. The MMXLC 1 has only one or two auto scrollers and those games are beloved. They also have great platforming level design.

Mega Man X Dive is terrible. I played the intro level then uninstalled it. However if you end up playing it, record your reaction. Because seeing your audience react to you playing it is the only joy you will get from it.

I've given up on x series and don't want any x9 game because in this day and age it wouldn't be on the same track anymore. Besides political agendas infecting and plagueing all of my childhood memories the story till the end of zero series was already established and I don't want anymore retcons.

i don't think they should make an X9. 6 and 7 were so fucking bad, and the only reason X8 seemed ok was due to its comparison to the utter garbage preceding it...its still a mechanically frustrating game, and its damn hard. the classic and X were my favorite gaming series and all, but unless they did it absolutely perfect, maybe it should just stay defunct.. or perhaps a new spin off in that universe with the fan-favorite mechanics and all.... but in the end, if they DID make an x9, assuming it was on a console i have, i'd probably play it....

No one wants to hear this but the facts are honestly quite simple... We already got WAY more MMX content then Capcom themselves ever originally intended to make let alone understood what to do with... X was always supposed to be a mini series at most just like the Zero saga that followed it, hell the ONLY THING even remotely tying MMX to Dive beyond it's sir-name is it itself is the battle network equivalent being very loosely connected by the Wily virus who's canonically Omega (Sigma during the X series) manifesting on the internet in a different games world... I have a lot of love for the X games myself but sales figures are more of what Capcom actually cares about & the X series even in it's prime sold so poorly they opted to put the Zero games on GBA instead of making them into what would become Command Mission not because they just didn't care enough but because it ultimately really doesn't matter how great a games story & concept is if ultimately not enough people are ever gonna know about, let alone play said game otherwise...

If they do x9 pleeeeeease dont use the x8 designs

DIVE, EXE and SF are not that good, those sganes are kind of garbage for me. If you like it ok but, to me, as a long time fan (since 1 came out) i'd never buy these games full price and would not pay anything above 2 bucks for a collection i already own in physical and would not spend a penny on that crap dive.
