Welcome to my latest long distance hike.
In this series, I take on probably the toughest of all the UK hikes.
It may not be the longest, but this one is generally considered to be gruelling.
Difficulty aside, the views and landscapes that you are rewarded with on a daily basis are just stunning. They certainly make up for the rough paths, bogs and river crossings.
You will definitely get wet on this one. It is a cracking hike though.
I hope this inspires someone to consider taking it on.
John.

@andrewmurrayhikes I'll likely be starting a few days after that but commencing from where I left off so you never know, our paths may cross Andrew.

Count us in! New subscriber here. Love most all of these CWT Films. And what with global warming early winter/spring season looks like a great time to do the trail. Great stuff 👍🏼

Thank you Fraser. It's great to have you onboard. I chose the back end of April because the weather tends to improve slightly around that time. It's also early enough that the midge isn't too much of a problem. There were still plenty of tick about though.

Thanks for sharing John! What were the overnight temperatures last April? How did the Altras cope with the wet sections? My Lone Peaks aren’t the best on steep and boggy ground. Hoping to start on the CWT in mid April. New Sub

Temperatures were OK Andrew. It was chilly the night I camped high up but not uncomfortable. It was that wet and boggy that no footwear would be perfect in my opinion. I will be using the same this year. Altra's and waterproof socks. The socks are only waterproof for so long though. I had wet feet every day apart from day 1 and the last day.

Nice video mate, but crikey you went off quick ! Keen to see if you kept that pace going 👍
@thunder_roaming
@thunder_roaming 9 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching Mac. I certainly don't keep that pace up mate. On steady trails without too much ascent/descent, I normally walk at around twenty miles per day. I'm up early, steady away and walk until evening. I'm comfortable with that pace. Once the difficult terrain starts, as in day two onwards, my pace drops accordingly.
