Yes he seems so fresh.. Although he's seen everything, played everything, talked to all the world... he is still a simple man... he could almost say the only person he didn't meet is God, but he remains himself.

You have to hand it to Albert Lee’s parents for co-signing all those guitar purchases. He sure didn’t let them down. Kudo’s to the captain for this and all the other great interviews and reviews.

Guys, you should probably chop out the performance of Highwayman at the end and re-upload it as a separate video - many people probably won't get to the end of a 2hr video and realise that there's an amazing performance there.

I heard Albert perform live for the first of many times, 27 years ago. I was there early in The Hangar, Galway. He chatted away as he showed me how to properly tie strings so that they would stay best in tune without slipping. At the end of the full-house gig Albert asked me to hold and mind his MusicMan while he wet off to sign autographs ... and yes, I was tempted to run off with the guitar, but of course I didn't. :-) :-)

it's all subjective but since we're claiming genres and the best guitarists playing in them, we own you on the Blues, Country, Jazz, and Metal. What's that leave you? Classical? A tie at best. The Spanish and Mexicans beat us both anyway in that one. Pop? Don't follow enough pop session guitarists to say one way or another. You can have it if you want. It's not one I care about anyway. (also, I think the Japanese have us both beat in that one as well) So you guys got what? New Wave of British Heavy Metal? That'd mean something if it was 1979 again. (just so we're clear, most of the NWOBHM were really trying hard to be Eddie Van Halen when it came time for the solos)

There are songs I love that I play very seldom because they stimulate my break down and cry reflex. This rendition of The Highwayman by Albert is one of them, . It feels like Albert thought "I remember that clinic and meeting the Captain's pa in law. I'm glad I could make him feel better, This one's for him, and if there is a place we go after we die, maybe he can look down and hear this and be happy." Albert is the kind of guy who would do it and mean it. This was simply the most beautiful things I've heard in some time. Thank you, Albert.

What a great interview so personable. I saw him back yrs ago in with Emmy Lou. I knew the drummer at the time as well who is now with Dolly. Big time interviewers could in my onion not do the wonderful job you did. You can tell when a guest enjoys the host. And the end I was with you about bought to tears. The mark of true artist. I just took a peek and sat here through the whole thing ... So much for practice tonight . But we all need that inspiration to keep the faith in what we do. Thank You..

This interview shows us how a humble guitarist from London conquered the world of country music and remains a guitar genius in his 70’s. Next time I visit London, must pop in to Andertons and congratulate the Captain. Alex, in the snowy mountains of Norway.

Wow....Been a fan of Albert Lee since the late 70s. Saw him on a video with Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds of Rockpile. Fabulous guitar player and that should be enough. But no....he plays keyboard and sings like that! Amazing, and such a nice guy also.
