Thanks, Lee, for interviewing possibly the most under-rated guitarists of all time, always understated and tasteful. A bonus that he turns out to be such a nice bloke as well!

Dear Captain, thank you SOOOOOOOOO MUCH for this video! If I ever started to play guitar, I owe this to Tim Renwick! He changed my life! Heard everything he has recorded with Al Stewart. Tim is my very number one hero! Thank you!

The solo that Tim did in the Pulse version of Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 was something that I'll never forget. This man showed himself to be in David Gilmour's class. To do a standout solo on the same stage as David Gilmour just shows how insanely talented this man is.

Lovely to see Tim Renwick on the show. Been a fan of his ever since I saw him live with Quiver in the Strand Lyceum Ballroom in January 1971. He has played with practically all the major stars in the rock firmament, including Al Stewart, Mike & The Mechanics and, of course, Pink Floyd. His Dr Who moment on the Pulse DVD was a touch of genius. I highly recommend his solo album "Privateer". Great to see him still playing with the same brilliant touch after all this time.

Great seeing Tim on here. Like many others I'm sure, I first saw Tim on the 80's and 90's Pink Floyd live shows. As a young Gilmour fan, I always wondered how it must've felt playing onstage next to Davey G, how intimidating (or not) it was, what it was like playing a solo with him listening! I watched he DSoT and Pulse videos loads back in the day, and always saw Tim smiling and seemingly having the time of his life.

Well ... Mr Renwick takes me back. Sutherland Bros and Quiver at the Old Union, Cardiff around 73 or 74 . Brilliant gig. We were at the back and passed the doobry along and up onto the desk. Their guys reciprocated and whatever they had blew our heads off !!!!

How I loved Quiver with Tim’s fantastic playing and Bruce Thomas’ jaw-dropping bass. I still remember hearing them at the Roundhouse and being taken by the heavy-lidded groove of Gone in the Morning, a real showcase for Tim’s inspiring fretwork. And when they teamed up with the Sutherlands for that lovely Dream Kid album, it was heaven. All the best to Tim!

Great to see Tim at Andertons. I've been a Tim fan since the Sutherland Brother's days. Went to see them 4 times. He has such a great strat sound. Tim and Ted Turner are my guitar heroes, very melodic. Every note played with passion. Tim reminds me of Danish Pete. Love to hear them play together. If you don't know Tim's guitar work then look it up you won't be dissaponted.

Thank you Captain for this interview. Bought back very fond memories of Pink Floys’s Pulse concert in 1994. Some fantastic playing by Tim in that show. Worth checking out his solo on “Learning to Fly” for those who havnt seen it. I literally played that video every night for about 4 months straight when it came out, inspired me to pick up the guitar again. Even went and bought a red strat with a maple neck because I wanted to be DG so bad. Would of liked to have seen some more playing from Tim, he is all kinds of awesome with a strat.

Always been a massive fan of Tim's work. His soloing on Al Stewart's "Lord Grenville", from note choice to dynamics to tone, is simply outstanding. I'd love to know what rig he recorded through on that track & YOTC.

Lord Grenville is fantastic! Check out Modern times if you're not familiar, by far my favorite solo of his.. also really like almost Lucy and life in dark water.. believe I read he was using a fender pro reverb around that time and a 59 Bassman, he's also a pedal guy, from delays to compressors and things and usually a strat.

Tim renwick recorded and toured with Elton John. For some excellent footage check out Elton’s 1980 Central Park concert. He and Richie Zito brought some different sounds and arrangements to Elton’s great songs. He is heard in some lesser known songs but yet still some good ones. If you want to hear an amazing collaboration, one that perhaps will be discovered after we are gone and someone will say “how come I never heard this?” Listen to a song called “ madness” by Elton John, every musician is amazing,Tim , Elton rocks , drummer rocks!

Lee! Great to hear about Grey guitars and the use of English woods. I hardly ever shout on the internet but -PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get Rosie Heydenrych of Turnstone Guitars on. She does the same thing with acoustics - sycamore, fenland bog oak, London Plane, larch! They sound amazing, and she is a great person to talk to. I'm an amateur maker and wanted to make an all English wood acoustic for a friend's 65th, and she was so kind and helpful to me when I contacted her, even though I could never afford one of hers and she knew that. So generous of her time and skill, and the guitars are stunning.
