The name of the lead singer is Nina Persson. The Cardigans were big when I grew up and are a bit forgotten nowadays but still, they have alot of great songs. Great reaction guys!

I'm glad you found the Cardigans. Another great but extremely underrated Swedish Pop band is Cloudberry Jam. Try "Going Further" or "Elevator", or"Another Moment Follows".

I'm so glad you've been delving into the older pre-Lovefool Cardigans stuff. I loved that kitsch, lounge style so much. It was something a little refreshing and different for us Britpop fans at the time. I was a bit disappointed when they started going down the soft rock (then folky/country) route. I felt they'd left us early Cardigans fans behind.

I like this band and purchased a album from them that has Marvel Hill track on it which I like a lot. Kind of sounds like a detective movie track. It’s off of Gran Trurismo. Hanging Around is another great track.

the 2 first Cardigans albums are a brilliant exercise of muzak soft pop... and they did a hilarious and phenomenal cover of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath which it's amazing. Many people prefer their afterwards records which were more succesful commercially, which is kinda ironic, because those 2 initial albums were intended to exploit a couple of formulas from french naive singers from the 60s, bossanova artists like Astrud Gilberto and that type of soft retro pop. Nevertheless, they founded something much more personal and interesting with that than their latter stuff and hits like Lovefool, which is bland and frankly boring... and that's why I said it's ironic. When they chased commercial succes they became formulaic, when they made their foundation on a formulae they weren't formulaic

It's a common story. Record companies love you when the music is easily packaged and digested. But artistic "exploration" is rarely encouraged.

First time I heard this lot was doing a cover of Ozzie's Mr Crowley. It was even worse than this. You would expect to hear something like this at a village "talent show" in between a farting duck and an octogenarian playing their false teeth. Sweden gave us, perhaps, the greatest pop band ever. At the other end of the spectrum, I guess this is levelling things up. Just my view and if people like Bethany like this, good for you.
