I'm 5 years into mine. She went from black to a mixed grey, both cuffs fraying as well as under the arms, buttons are rusted to a point of uselessness, pockets and hems frayed and the 2nd zipper is on the way out. 10/10 would buy again.
That’s great to hear Ryan, thanks for the feedback!! Question, are you looking to replace it any time soon, and if so would you buy it again or are you considering a different brand or model? Thanks! Adam
@@healing2gether my only complaint on the Bartlett is the lining on the pockets but idk if id buy it again. I have one in a discontinued colorway I don't work in and another sherpa lined carhartt I bought last year to replace the old one (couldn't bring myself to retire it), so I'd probabsly buy a lighter jacket for the spring but if I had to guess this is my last winter with the Bartlett. Tree work does damage to workwear
@@healing2gether once the other carhartt wears out I would def buy a Bartlett again though. Best jacket I've ever had especially for cold new England winters
☕️ I have several videos on my channel wearing this Bartlett jacket. I do snow removal in Canada, and with the proper layering, this jacket will protect you (especially those brutal arctic wind). #oldlenn ☕️
biggest gripe I have with Cahartt is def their sizing leaning more towards dudes with bigger guts and larger waist size lol, sucks having broad shoulders aswell and having to get a size that fits the shoulders and arms yet can hug the mid section good, the new active jack by them actually caters more towards those needs if you ever want to try one on !
Yeah I have a hard time sizing a lot of things as well because of my build...but I’m definitely gonna look into the active Jac, looks like my old duck jacket, which I wore FOREVER!
Your review is spot on, I'm 5'10" 180-185 lbs I bought it in a size medium, I have 43 back 31-32 waist, finally a jacket that fits me properly (not tight on the back) but Im not floating in it, usually for other jackets if I buy large it looks bulky but fits good around my back, if I get a medium it looks good but it's tight on my back.
I'm a bit biased. I'm 5'8 and 210lbs..don't know whether to go for the medium or the large one.. I have broad shoulders and I like the jackets to be fit properly not baggy..
@@healing2gether went for the medium in the end. Fits perfect (tight fit is what I like) on me but I suppose I like them like that instead of baggy. I did try to put a hoodie on but it felt too tight even though the jacket still closes. On the other hand with a thin jumper a t-shirt or just a shirt on fits great. Anyways thanks for the review. Great looking jacket. Feels like It will last forever.
the other brands may be cheaper, but after watching my grandpa & dad growing up? they paid for the “expensive” brands (Carhartt) that lasted forever. i still throw on my grandpa jackets from time to time. worn & dingy as hell but they get the jobs done. ive been investing in my own for awhile now with no regrets. buy the Carhartt, treat em right. it’s better than going cheaper having to replace it every few years. best believe they’ll make you the money back.
Thank you so much I really appreciate you reaching out and writing this! I hope you enjoy the rest of the videos on the channel look forward to hearing more from you in the comments!
Got mine in about a week ago size medium, I’m 5,10 150 lbs. the jacket was to short for me so I returned it and went ahead and got the medium tall, I’m confident in saying that I can fit other hoodies under this and fit just fine. Is on the short side recommend the tall but if I went with a regular large it would be way to big in the gut. Great product 10/10 just wish the sizing guide was better
Just found this channel today, and i have to say you seem like a pretty cool guy, and your videos are high quality. Thanks for the review, you helped me decided on buying that jacket.
I have this jacket this will be my 2nd winter . It’s great only complaint I have is the sherpa lining gets all over your clothes and hats if you wear the hoodie. Maybe a couple more washes and it won’t be an issue but other then that very pleased with this jacket and will be for year’s to come.
Thank you my friend, no I’d say definitely a large. When I’m in my heavier season at 185 (also 5’10”) I can’t really wear mine with anything but a t shirt underneath because it’s too tight in the shoulders and armpits
@@healing2gether I work shipping and I just started a couple months ago. Every one up there was saying how cold it's going to be in there since I work over by the bay doors and out in the warehouse loading trucks
Just bought one in medium at tractor supply for 120$.... Absolutely love the jacket ....I stay toasty in the cold and wind all day long and not to mention Carhartt notorious toughness...I would recommend to anyone this jacket is a winner.......
The large wil be must more comfortable when wearing hoodies underneath. I am 5’10 and nearly 190 lbs now, and I cannot wear a hoodie underneath mine, it will be too tight
@@ryankelly1846 I dont know for sure, but it looks like The new version have changed drawstring to hood and hole jacket looks less bulky. Hard to say from a video.
Planning on buying one for use in the winter. I dont wear jackets much but I want something of good quality so I dont have to rebuy my jackets again after a year or 2 and this jacket should last me a lifetime. Maybe I could even gift it to the next generation with how durable Carhartt is. 😂
Would the sleeves of this jacket in size S be too long on a guy who's 5'3"? I'm sure my shoulders would fit the well in S but not sure about the length of the sleeves, no way to try it either.
Hey man, can you take a measurement of your arm from the armpit to your wrist, I can measure the jacket and let you know where your wrist would fall on the sleeve in my medium which would be a good way to tell if the sleeves on a small would fit. -Adam
@@smigglesmiggles614 hey buddy, so my Medium measures 51 cm from pit to the jacket cuff, plus another 4.5 cm for the internal cuff. Hope that makes sense…?
Just got the L in black. I'm 6ft and 220lbs. I wanted a more snug fit and round the body this was fine in that respect. However its ridiculously short, it just looks silly. Would fit someone like Thorin Oakenshield, but not a human. I got it for £117 which is a great price in the UK, however they don't stock 'tall' sizes here so it's just going to have to go back for a refund. Such a shame because I love everything else about it. ☹️
@@healing2gether You're in the sweetspot for it fitting well! Fantastic review by the way. Right now I'm trying to see if their other jackets have a similar cut, or are a bit more generous in their length. Difficult because of Covid and not being allowed to leave your house!
@@davepork4914 I agree, I’m surprised Carhartt made the Bartlett so short. Where in the UK are you located? These COVID restrictions are nuts...along with everything else happening in the world right now!!
@@healing2gether Near Aylesbury in the countryside, about 40 miles outside of London. We've got a 70 metre long garden, and a very active dog, so I'm outside alot maintaining hedgerows and doing a few DIY jobs. Hence the choice of jacket! Not too cold at the moment, although there is a bit of snow. We're in a countrywide full lockdown till middle of February, then we'll see. Basically means we can only leave the house for groceries or doctor appointments... Luckily I have garden space, but I feel for the poor souls who live in flats or small dwellings, or who live alone. How are you coping?
@@davepork4914 from what I’ve seen on television you live in a lovely area! Glad to hear you’ve got an outdoor garden to keep you sane, fortunately for me and my six kids we’ve got 3 acres to play on and are surrounded by farmland. Without getting too political on you, I’m sure you are aware that we here in the states are going through a lot of turmoil and it sure is doing a number on our nation. But globally we need to get this thing sorted out pretty soon or everyone everywhere is going to tank quickly! How do you guys out there do you the American government, and the American people? If that’s something you’re not comfortable discussing I understand and don’t mind at all. But I’m always very curious.
Yeah at 150 I’d say a small will be perfect for you. I have broad shoulders and look like most people think I’m 200 pounds even when I’m just 165 because I’m top-heavy. I was expecting it to be a little longer as well, and after wearing it more and happy that it’s not because it makes getting in and out and up and down more convenient believe it or not
Just purchased a size medium, all the reviews are all over the place saying the jacket is to short, I’m a little under 6 foot do you think I’ll have the same problem? The medium long was near impossible to find in the cement color
Yeah I’m 5’10” and although I would really like the waist to sod the coat to sit 2-3 inches down more for warmth it definitely wouldn’t be as functional for getting in and out of the truck and tractors etc. I’d say it really is the perfect size for me. I wore it today while out with the family and I loved it!
I’m 5’11, 190 lb, broad shoulders and a Medium fits so perfect! Not too long not too short I bought it about 4 months ago and I’m in Colorado. I only need this jacket for the cold winters! I love it. I can still fit a hoodie under it too!
@@wilverbarrios4061 awesome!! And you’re a bit colder out there in CO too! Sounds like we are built similarly and I couldn’t be happier with the fit of the medium!!
Yes I think that will suit you well!! There is someone else who just commented at 210 and wants to know if the large will fit for them. Let us all know what you think! -Adam
Hey thanks friend!! Yes seems quite water-resistant but not sure if it is labeled as water proof. Has a great outer coating that the rain taps on like a water proof coat!
Maybe chilly days in Autumn over a T shirt for sure, but too warm for a spring. I run hot, but this jacket is VERY warm for me even in the coldest days so far this winter, but I like it because I can throw it on over a T short or Henley and still be warm enough!
Yes it runs pretty true to size. Two things worth mentioning are that many people above 6 foot are finding it to be too short at the waist, so I think it’s perfect and I’m 5 foot 10. But if you intend to wear larger sweaters or sweatshirts underneath you will want to go up one size though I feel staying true to size was perfect for me! -Adam
I'm about to pull the trigger in the UK for a Bartlett, I've two Detroit jackets in large which fit nice and snug, plus a XL overshit that's HUGE, like WAY too big. I'm concerned over the size of these. I'm 6'1" and 200lbs, wide shoulders, no gut, would you think large or XL, I'm thinking XL, but I hate baggy ..... thoughts? great video BTW
Hey friend, first off thanks for watching appreciate the good feedback! So it sounds like a Large might be a bit too snug for you in the shoulders and under arms ya know? My medium fits me just about as perfect as it could get! But I’m also 15 pounds under my normal weight. I think when I get up to my 185 pounds I would not be able to wear a sweatshirt with my Bartlett. I know it’s a pain in the ass to return things through the mail nowadays.
@@healing2gether fresh!! I grabbed a pair . Diff color but for $25 on sale. Been trying to evolve into a more manly, Mature shoe. Coming from wearing vans and nikes. Like your style ! I’m subbed. Also grabbing one of these jackets. Seem like quite the investment. Tired of buying down coats and they rip.
@@silentriver8488 wow great snag for $25!!! Did you get the Grey, or chocolate brown? And thanks for the kind words, sounds like you’ll be a great addition to the community, and I’m grateful to have you join us!! -Adam
Nah my man, I’m too small in that video. I’m now another 20 pounds up since I made that video. I was about to have a spinal fusion back then. Now I’m getting back to ME ;) so the jacket even fits a little snug in the pits now
