The magic in 1969,70 is something equivalent of the technology of today. The Carpenters captured and expressed the essence of that magic in their music.
Lovely woman with an absolutely amazing beautiful voice. She was one of my favorite singers. Her song “we’ve just begun” was our high school graduation ceremony song in 1977. The senior class voted her song. Sad that she suffered so much for a long time.
the most beautiful voices that I've ever heard you will never be forgotten Karen I love you. Karen I am so grateful that God brought you into this world so that we can listen to your beautiful voice Gone Too Soon but I know the day that I pass away I will always think of you I will always think of this song such a beautiful voice I will see you in heaven you will never be forgotten you live on in our hearts forever and ever love is eternal Love Never Dies you will be remembered for eternity rest in peace my love
whenever I hear this song I am overwhelmed his deep sensitivity and her ethereal voice ... not if there will be other versions of this song, but only to hear it know that there is a better version than the original in the voice of Karen ... most sweet voice, a sublime sensibility, his lyrics seem pure poetry ... and melody ... contains all the tenderness that only Karen Carpenter can transmit ..... sweetness personified ... God knows I never will be someone like her ... her voice is like the song of the angels ... because before starting sHE wAS ALREADY ...

I love you Karen..I really missed your angelic beautiful voice..I am 64 this January and I really witnessed your golden days with your golden voice..It’s really incomparable ..whenever I take a chance to hold a microphone..I try to sound like you in your songs..but to no avail ..only Karen Carpenter can do it the Karen Carpenter way..thank you for leaving us this great legacy ..the next generations will continually go for your songs and of course ,your voice..I love you..I miss you my Karen
4.02.1983..its almost 30 years since you gone dear Karen, you still live in your songs, in our memories and in our hearts.. and you always will, we will never forgot you..Rest in peace dear Angel :(
+sandinyourshoes Today, you find them in rock group, but where can you find a female vocalist / drummer on easy listening AC songs... virtually NONE! Sure you find them playing the piano or the guitar....so typical.
What a precious gift stolen from us at such a tender age... I know it might not sound nice, but if I knew who the reporter was who described her as being overweight and hurt her so badly, I wouldn't mind giving him a black eye.
Qué maravillosa voz. Aún duele su temprana partida. De seguro, ha de ser parte de la legión de ángeles que siempre nos acompañarán;además, mientras conservemos su recuerdo, ella permanece con nosotros.
This would be absolutely PERFECT if only the CD audio (i can tell) was synched to the archived/source video itself. I'm still very, VERY grateful that this was posted, nonetheless! For some reason, you just don't come across too many of their archived, in-studio VIDEO recordings at the A&M Recording Studio (studio 'B', I think it was...). Thanks!
This is not an actual video of the recording session!! It's a staged performance in the studio to give the illusion that the recording was taking place.
I more or less acknowledged that with the first sentence in my earlier comment. But the main point of my message remains... there aren't many videos (staged or otherwise) of their in-the-STUDIO performances on RU-vid, or anywhere else for that matter. I've heard (well.... actually read somewhere else online) that presumably many of such things were lost in a fire at the former A&M studio.... such a shame. :(
PRIMERA VEZ QUE LA VEO, ENCIMA TOCA LA BATERÍA, ERA UN GENIO LA MINA, ES DIFÍCIL CANTAR Y TOCAR LA BATERÍA ! Y ESA VOZ, NO NACIÓ OTRA CON ESA VOZ, YO LA ESCUCHABA CUANDO MI MAMA LA PONÍA EN CASETTE
When this came out many called it "canned" "bubble gum music." But aside from copying some Tijuana Brass, this song always turned me on. Her voice is so clear, honest and the back ups just soothe as they carry me away. Whoever produced this deserves a medal. So sad that she had bulimia. So tragic to lose such a talent before she had the time to develop it further.
+Jack Sprat Richard Carpenter the brain of the group, done most of the composition, arranging and even some if the song writing. Herb Alpert from Tijuana Brass (co founder of A&M) gave Richard Carpenter some assistance while composing this song. Alpert's version was recorded before the Carpenters, but remained unreleased until 2005.
+stickmagnet this was composed by bacharach & david. r. carpenter hit on the right arrangement, alpert came up with having the carpenters record it and the quintuplet trills, and history was set in motion.
Thanks to the Simpson movie, I got to know who Karen Carpenter was. Her voice is like an angel singing from the heaven, especially this song. It's one of the haunting beautiful song I've ever heard in my life! Why Karen? You weren't fat or bad looking, why did you have to lose weight? Questions to the heaven.
