First part of life of Karen Carpenters. The film also follows the untimely death of Karen Carpenter, as told by her brother Richard.
Sadly, not many music stations noted the passing of Tony Peluso, even though he was involved with many groups during his career. He was a very talented individual.
Ever notice how clear and concise her voice was. You can understand every single word. A refreshing change from some of the voices you here today. Some of the singers now sounds like they are singing with a mouthful of marbles, lol.
My dad went to the Carpenter's concert in the 1970s when he was in high school. I believe he graduated in high school in 1974. My mom probably went to their concert too.
My parents told us the story about Karen Carpenter how she had anorexia & starved herself because she thought she was fat. Someone made a comment about her looking plump. Even though she was super skinny, she still thought she was fat.
Yes I do remember this: the Carpenters - Richard - invented the power ballad, indeed. Good on them and bravo. So many people don't realize what the Carpenters did for music, let alone the money they generated for record and publishing companies, allowing them to fund up and coming new bands that may or may not make it.
Karen can you're here me now, I love your voice and im going to sing a few for old times Ive spent a lot of time on it and its remarkable to make sense of it
Looking back, it is the utmost absurdity that A&M Records treated the Carpenters as if they were a second-rate act by requiring them to turn out a new record every year! Music artists in today's world like Alanis Morrisette turn out a new album when they feel the inspiration to go into the recording studio! As Richard Carpenter has stated, he and his sister Karen were touring too much and were under too much pressure to put out a new album every year! The quality of their albums, as great as it was, would have been even better had they been allowed more time off to recharge their emotional and physical "batteries" so to speak, so that the quality of their musical output would have been maximized! It is so sad that, and Richard Carpenter has wonderfully acknowledged this, that Karen and Richard never turned out an album of great standards like Linda Ronstadt did with her two albums recorded with Nelson Riddle, "What's New?" and "Lush Life", instead of wasting time recording clunker songs like "Beechwood 4-5789"! Oh well, what might have been!
You can have the most incredible gift, that can give joy to thousands of people. Yet when you come off that stage, unfortunately Karen Carpenter, didn't enjoy herself. ⭐♥️⭐🥁
The only thing that her parents & brother didn't have over her was her eating disorder she could control what she eat & how much. Her whole were narcissist & husband sad Karen just wanted her mom & others to love her😪
Yes! I had a sicko, pathetic family and I also suffered with anorexia nervosa during that same time frame. I survived by mere luck. It broke my heart when Karen Carpenter lost her life.
Her family did love her. They busted their butts to give her and Richard a great life. Bought her drums, a flute, an accordion .... paid for her lessons ... etc. Just because they weren't all touchy feely doesn't mean they didn't love her. Stop going by tabloid journalism and do some critical thinking. Karen and Richard both had issues due to the stress of the business and their youth and inexperience with fame. Richard survived but Karen didn't. Why do we have to demonize people and find a scapegoat?
Dear Karen, your mother, your brother and Tom Burris killed you. They killed an angel. I hope they burn in the hell for ever !!! - /// Please, rest in peace my sweet Karen, . . . my love !
listen i've always gotten this weird and uncomfortable feeling from richard and after watching that one clip (8:15) where he said "music, music, music became our final special only because of what [...] happened to karen" as if he's blaming her for having a mental illness! what a piece of garbage
