Road Ode was included on the 1972 album called A Song For You. They had already had several hit singles by this time including more from this album which made this track an album cut only and was not performed live because it had not been released as a single. Nonetheless, it is a great song and meant to be heard as an ensamble with the previous song on the album called Crystal Lullaby and the track which follows Road Ode called A Song For You Reprise. A Song For You is a stellar album and well worth an album review!😮😊

Richard and Karen performed all the harmonies in their songs… Mr. guder is also quite beautiful and full of their gorgeous harmonies.

Best harmonies. Great suggestion on tbis song. May we suggest "Love Me For What I Am" recorded by Carpenters in 1975 during the Horizom session album.

Hi Rob! You reacted to one of my favorite Carpenters songs that was not a single release. It was on an early album so it could have been videoed but just wasn’t. It was written by two of the band members. So it was personal to them all. I believe it was performed in a concert and that’s on video. I’m not sure but I have a memory of Richard doing a shout out to the two members who wrote it. Many of the band members were in it for the long haul, and some who came on later stayed to the end. They all contributed to the albums with the addition of Joe Osborn and Hal Blaine of The Wrecking Crew. Joe in particular basically “discovered” them as he was quoted as saying “my garage band is me, Karen and Richard Carpenter.” Yeah that’s a helluva garage band. The reality was they were winning contests in Southern CA and getting some recognition. RU-vid has the videos from the college contest, search “Dancin’ In The Street.” You need a Carpenters playlist. I know you did more but it’s difficult to search. So, I’m gonna request a fave of mine. It’s a live performance from 1970, Karen is 20, it’s for The Ed Sullivan Show. It’s outdoors in front of wounded Viet Nam War vets. It’s the Bacharach/David Medley. Karen is just going to town and the boys are doing their best to keep up.
