It's late at night,but somehow I couldn't go to bed. I feel Karen up in heaven you are happy with us, when we click on your songs. You are alive. 32 years before I was in love with your voice, now I'm in love with your voice and I think I will love your voice forever. I just want you to know it. Thanks for your life Karen.

Dead right 'sublimeguy' this isn't a forum for discussing eating disorders! It is to celebrate one of the greatest female vocalists of my lifetime (which has spanned 67 years so far). As a bloke I'm supposed to be un-sentimental, but whenever I hear Karen Carpenter I get a lump in my throat thinking what a sad loss she was to the world when she had so much more to give.

I grew up listening to the Capenters. I just loved their songs...The first compact I owned was Rainy Days and Mondays, when I was 11...Karen sang beautifully and their songs were special.A real pity that anorexy keeps on killing so many people (specially girls)...

She´s an angel! Karen Carpenter descendió del Cielo porque Dios la dotó de esa voz hechizante e irresistible. Este tema también había sido interpretado por la banda británica Hermann Hermits.

that is a tough one. the Beatles, after all, are the undisputed Kings of all music. yet I have to say that I personally resonate a lot more to the Carpenters. either way, I consider the Beatles, Carpenters, and Simon & Garfunkel to be the three greatest musical groups of the last couple of generations

I understand that there wasn't much known about eating disorders in the 70's yet as you can see in this video, it's not rocket science to tell that Karen just is not well and I've seen her in videos where she's even sicker and it just angers me that Richard still had her performing when she really wasn't fit to. Rest in peace baby girl.
@no1cfielder
@no1cfielder 16 лет назад
If you listen closely you'll find that Karen puts "'n'" (as in "and") immediately before "Just like me..." She does the same thing two places in "Only Yesterday". Billy Joel puts a couple of them in "She's Always a Woman". By the way, this is not criticism; it's just for interest; I love all of these songs and the way they're sung....

I didn't notice, back when everyone was young, but it's not hard to see she had a real problem. Pitiful. I can't understand how anyone that skinny can think they're fat. The human mind is strange.

Real story is that she had anorexia, a eating desorder, started when before concerts she used to get all nervous and couldn't eat anything, after got even worst. She started a to get better a year before her death, even got a feel pounds but her body was just to damaged, and her organs start to fail, it's one of the efects of anorexia. is sad, she was very good, whit the music, and seemed a great woman.
