She is isn't she? I do love her as a character but sometimes it can be quite frustrating seeing her reactions to everyone. She has been told about this by Theo already, but maybe she needs someone else to make it clearer for her. Hopefully she realises this next season or by the end of this season even!

I am optimistically cautious. I think after doing my reaction to the part 2 trailer, she seemed to revert back to how she was which makes me very nervous!

Yeah I think he is too 'honourable' to break it off with Pen. He is acting quite impulsively isn't he? With Eloise, I understand her feelings of betrayal but I do feel like she is also being a bit reckless. She doesn't really let Pen talk about her experiences and reasonings for what she has done. But yes, I agree with you.

@@analyticalplum he was a bit unhinged the moment he realized he was in love, he sent propriety goodbye. A lot of them Bridgertons do that, because I guess they know they will have family support always. While Penelope’s situation is different. As for Eloise, I think the fact she befriended Cressida was telling. She wanted to hurt Pen. She even said Eloise never did anything, and I think Eloise is mad Pen was able to create something for herself outside of what women usually do. I think she was right to be mad about Pen revealing her secret, but she had to do that bc Eloise was reckless and wouldn’t listen. She put her future and that of her youngest sisters at risk, bc if someone saw her alone with a lower class man (or any man), she would be ruined beyond repair and Theo would also be in jeopardy because she is nobility (think Anthony with the duel, except Simon is a duke lol). The queen digging at that would cause problems. Penelope saved them all by forcing her hand after she didn’t listen, which is similar to what she did with Marina. It’s a moral grey area because she tastes the power of having most of the ton listening, so she does play God a little bit. But her intentions are never to be cruel, she doesn’t lie. In the end, she just reports what other people are already discussing. We see how gossip will travel with or without LW, like the Colin help thing in ep 2. LW just has a bigger and faster reach and Penelope can control the narrative that way, do damage control, as she did with Eloise. Eloise was “ruined” but her name was still enough to save her. If they knew she was alone with a man, things wouldn’t be so easy. Also, both Colin and Eloise are more privileged than Penelope ever was. If Penelope were to never marry, LW money is her only hope for freedom. Eloise has all of her family. We see how Eloise wants to be a feminist, but she is not exactly a girl’s girl. She doesn’t truly listen to other women, especially if they don’t follow what she believes. She does with the embroidery girl and Cressida when she’s afraid of being married off to an old man. She had no idea, bc her family is different than the norm. It’s a truly complex situation. Now they jumped from her almost being engaged to Debling, which everyone knew, to suddenly being engaged to Colin. People will speculate. So telling him could put an end to it and then I don’t think anyone else would marry her after a failed engagement. She truly relies on the testament of his love for her and what he is willing to accept. Which would be terrifying for any woman in that period.
