I don't think it's lazy eye. According to someone very close to the band they were very into smoking the best ganja. So I would bet that Ben is higher than a kite which is awesome 👍👍. I never liked to play when I was high. Too self conscious 🤣😂. I did take some MDMA once during a show. That was a very interesting evening 🤣😂

Agreed with all the positive comments. The greatest compliment I've ever received from the choir teacher in HS was that I had Ben Orr's voice - 1985. The Cars were excellent, grossly underrated and should have been put into the HOF back in the 90's. Crappy - non Rock and Roll bands got in instead.

Julia Difani I don’t know, but anything he wore, he wore extremely well, from his gorgeous leather pants and jacket to his t-shirt and jeans biker look, and at Live-aid his tennis shoes and black jeans. Anything just the ultimate rock star. Sorry to go on and on he does that to me.

It astounds me at how big "The Cars" catalog is. Every album was loaded with great songs. How we took it for granted that this was "just the way things are and always would be". How I miss the days of quality music being produced almost on a daily basis. Back to the cars, Benjamin Orr had such a presence on stage and I have just recently become a big fan of Elliot Easton as I get to watch him perform on video. Which is silly considering that I have been a fan of The Cars since Candy-O came out.

Remember this from Fridays. Freshman in High School. New wave & punk hit us marching band members like a lightening bolt ! We loved the colors, the sunglasses, the asymmetrical shirts. So rad, the beginning of our love for The Cars. This is really great !

Ben was a great talent and from what I have heard, a very decent person in private. He has been underrated. Sorry he passed away almost a quarter of a century ago. He is humble in death as he was in life; he is buried in a very small church cemetery in Geauga County, Ohio, with only a common grave marker.

At age 65 now, I grew up loving the Rolling Stones, Beatles, Led Zeppelin and remember the Cars but now so many years later, I realize just how INCREDIBLE and TIMELESS their music is. I get to enjoy them even though we tragically lost Ben Orr. They are AMAZING. But their music will live on...definitely a musical genius + 2 great vocalists, and an outstanding lead guitarist.

Cool hearing Ric use the Jazzmaster with a distortion effect, normally that guitar was reserved for clean sounds (ie "Shake it Up" or "My Best Friend's Girl"), wish it was higher in the mix. Both EE and Ric had great tone.

Jesus, I thank the heavens I was born when I was-this was the first band whose full discography I bought w my own money as a kid (at Music Plus). I remember cleaning my slotcars listening to the first album till the grooves flattened. I can still sing every word to every song clear to “Door to Door.” No American band means more to me than THESE guys! 🙏🤟

I've noticed in the hundreds of Cars videos I've watched over the years, whenever Ben makes even the smallest mistake, even just one note on the bass, he glances at Ric. Either because Ric would bring it up after the gig, and it was Ben's way of acknowledging the moment...OR....if he's anything like me, just plain pissed at himself for the mistake! Watch Phil Collins at Live Aid playing Against All Odds. He plays a real clunker on the piano and there's no missing it by the look on his face. To me, it's one of the most human moments in live music and one of my favorites, because yes, Phil C IS human.

From 1:15 to 1:55 you see the cameraman filming the footage that is played back in a strange way beginning at 3:30. A dumb video technique. (Not sure of the exact name. Not really slow motion.) Real-time filing of a solid performance would be preferable.

Fun Fact: Think it Over and Maybe Baby are titles from Shake it up. Also, titles of Buddy Holly songs.....this was a tribute to one of their inspirations. Later Weezer came out with song called Buddy Holly. This album was produced by.....you guessed it....Rik Okasek.
