I really enjoyed this documentary. Thank you so much David Jones! You did an excellent job explaining everything from beginning to end :) I have learned so much from this. I'm trying to learn more about it as I hope to visit Mt. Rushmore in 2023 where I have never been to😀

Truly amazing. In my opinion this work of art is complete. The incompleteness of it is it’s completeness. As an artist, you find that if you overwork something you may ruin it. You may have hoped initially the final result would be different, but sometimes you get to a place in which you cannot proceed. And then you realize it is done. I find that in looking at art that appears “incomplete” there is a certain life to in, almost like a physical movement in which the subject in traveling through spaces. It is almost like you are seeing the figure “emerge” from the place it was to the place it will be. Like when someone walks into a room they are moving about, first standing here, then there, perhaps turning to speak with someone or walking towards something. There is a sense of action as well as mystery. This magnificent work of art stopped exactly when and where it was supposed to. Jefferson with his eyes looking outward and upwards, it all adds to the beauty and intrigue. The rock debris that was never removed keeps it natural and unstagnant. It’s perfect. I hope to see it one day. And what a testimony to the accomplishment of America. With all its flaws, trials and imperfections America has still profoundly impacted the world more positively than negatively.

I remember visiting Mount Rushmore back in the 70's. There used to be a statue of an Indian on the upper left side of George Washington. Did they take that down?

Do you mean Crazy Horse? You can see that at 12:00 but it looks digitally added. IF what you say is true, why no one else has heard of it? Why never pictured? Like in that Cary Grant movie...

The presenter said he was going to discuss desecration but didn't once bring up the topic.

You’re right. I was thinking he did talk about it because he went right into the story of it being on stolen native land, but just filled in the blanks myself that many natives consider it a desecration of their mountain. He never actually said that.
