Carlito's Beard yep because the only one that can take a life is the good Lord and if you ain't the good Lord then he lives it's no one's business or choice but the parents smh
Carlito's Beard.. Agreed... Such a tough issue... I don't think you, I or anyone believes the parents are looking to prolong their child's pain & suffering.. I think they believe there is the possibility a treatment might exist that will remedy it.. The specialist from the US seems best qualified to make that determination... The parents should not be denied their hopes for a medical miracle, nor exploring all possible treatment options... If the US specialist advises them after examining Charlie, there is no reasonable chance of effectively treating their son, they should let him pass with dignity.. I think they will do so, knowing they had the right to explore every avenue, and do everything possible to save him.. Heart breaking..
tkymike i was depressed and almost took my life 2 times, and it a but different, like depression can be overcome but like an old person on 100 meds stirring in a hospital bed with physical pain like in the stomach constantly then it's their choice, but depression I came over, thanks to all of my freinds
Carlito's Beard I know that's what I want..... him to have a chance big if all else fails we tried to give him life.... but it's not here yet so I'm praying
I think this was a really difficult situation and on the face of it, people saying how awful everyone opposing Charlies treatment was would be right, especially considering how it was represented on this news segment. This whole case was heartbreaking and people all across the UK were hoping for the best for Charlie, no one wants a child to die, or to suffer. The main issue was that he had a degenerative disease (MDDS) and he had got to a point where he was living with a ventilator and could only eat through a tube. He had serious brain damage after a series of horrendous seizures and wasn't really there anymore. The experimental treatment was non-curative, therefore meaning that his quality of life would not improve (not significantly anyway, if at all), and so his whole life he would be struggling and in pain, it would only slow the progression of his illness. It's sad that the parents had their choice taken from them, but as the fantastic parents that they are said to be, they, of course, would never want to consider turning off his life support. His doctors and healthcare team, who people are calling 'Nazis' and 'simple-minded' saw that the parents would never give up (as they were so devoted), saw this child in agony every day, and saw that the parents had their hearts set on a treatment, which would really do an insignificant amount of good for Charlie, and saw that this was seriously prolonging his anguish, so they had to take it to the courts.
Nature abhors a vacuum. In the spiritual void left by the expulsion of a Christian ethic that once held sway in England, secular atheism fills the gap. Untethered from their Maker the state tries to make decisions far too big for it to handle alone. A still small voice in all of us says that this child's life is precious and worth fighting for. May God Bless Charlie and his family. God Save the Queen!
The doctors know 100% this child is in pain; that this child won't have quality life. No they don't. The judge& doctors are playing God. They are power hungry deciding if this child dies or has the chance to live. Prayers for Charlie
What's troubling: This doctor has no comment (nor does the hospital he's associated with) on about 16 of his test cases with another type of depletion syndrome. Why? Why does he crow about the purported success of one case, but he says nothing about all the others? Could it be because the one successful case is singular and all the others are showing no improvement? I suspect that if all the other cases were glowing successes, he'd be foaming at the mouth to preemptively contact Fox to discuss _those_ as well. Is he lusting after his Nobel Prize in medicine? Fame? Fortune? I'm not trusting this guy any further than I can throw him myself. This child cannot see, hear, _move_..._swallow_...or _breathe_ on his own without the aid of a ventilator. Keep thinking that any of that is going to change and that he will experience anything remotely approaching a _reasonable_ quality of life...
