The Case of the Valentine Ripper - Shadows of Doubt 

Had been stuck with the same case for two IRL days - Three people were killed by poison. Unrelated to each other, no fingerprints, only clue was a toy car at the scene. Third murder happened right next to me so I sprinted there and found someone right at the scene, and their fingerprints in the toy car. Obviously arrested them. And it wasn’t them either. TWO IRL DAYS pulling my hair out with this. Suddenly I spot two random people fighting on the street, decide to intervene to help the poor fella and handcuff the violent one. Found a syringe and a poison bottle on the guy. He had the nerve to tell me “Took you long enough” LMAOO

In my Valentine sniper case, I went into the apartment and couldn't find the body. The writing was on the wall, lipstick was there, the body was not. At least, until, I noticed something slightly clipping out of the microwave in the kitchen. I opened the microwave and the body exploded out of it and got itself jammed into cupboard drawers. I laughed my arse off while opening the drawers to get the fingerprints from the victim. A truly great way to start a case with.

My most memorable city has to be with a guy called Algernon Brown, shopkeeper at the local pawn shop. Every other day max I had an arrest contract, humiliate contract or vandalize contract for this man. It was like the whole city had a vendetta against him. Felt good to leave him my inheritance after retirement, let him know he had 1 friend (despite breaking his windows, arresting him and throwing food in his face so often)

Wait...I think the reason that there were so many paranoia notes is BECAUSE they were neighbors. So every time they went to or left their apartment, it triggered the "standing outside the door" event.

I am so glad to see more of this. Honestly, if you did multiple series, I would binge them all.

14:34 The thing with the lock-picking efficiency is that it reduces the amount of boxes you must fill to lock-pick an object. So if it took 10 boxes, it would be reduced to 5 boxes, which inadvertently speeds up the lock-picking time.

man, there is just something so special about these off stream playthroughs. seeing your genuine unbridled joy at these games, your passion for playing them in unique ways, exploring different play styles, it's literally infectious. I swear I could watch you play Shadows of Doubt for 1000 hours and I would still beg for more! Bought the game thinking I'd be just as good as Insym, humbled. I failed the tutorial twice LMAO

Though i think it would get old quick, imagine a competitive version of this, solving the crime the quickest in real time, moderators could design the crimes and evidence beforehand

i did a photograph case for a sync disk and 2000, i had that they worked in a particular building and had brown eyes. Went through all 12 businesses workers and collected every person with brown eyes, took a photo of each until the info updated

I was convinced to try this game out. My first murder case ended up being solved for me when I walked to a crime scene to see three people walk out of the room. The witness that reported it, a raging police officer and the soon-to-be-dead murderer. I just watched the cop do his thing and I turned my case in soon after. I also got the achievement that I solved a case without violence from this.

This game could be absolutely legendary if the devs add some tool for players to create custom cases. All the games that have cult followings are the ones that are highly moddable-even decades after they're released! That said, I've got no idea how complicated that is for the devs to make, but I really hope that's on the list. That, and some kind of multiplayer.

You should download a mod called "Babbler" it adds actual voices to the npcs, adds a little more immersion to the game :)

I started a new save and my very first murder happened right behind me, I went to buy a cola and saw the body drop to my left. When you're talking about opening the briefcases I've seen 2 different things, once it was a bomb, and the other time it was $1000 with the ability to put in and take out money as you please.

I had a murder that had no evidence. Not on cameras, no finger prints, checked every building for a bullet (There was a hole in the wall, but the person said that the murder knocked on their door a couple times) I had "Long red hair hair, large figure" to go off of, checked their place of work, and their emails, looked everywhere, and I arrested a couple of suspects that fit the description and asked them the murder questions (which gives them away) and they both had no idea what I was talking about, so the case went cold.

what would also be fun is if in the late game, you had a chance to become the target of a murderer. getting attacked by them instantly kills you. not entirely sure how you'd be prevented from save scumming to figure out their identity when they attack you, maybe a generic model that wears concealing clothes? similar to that 'get attacked by people you wronged in the game' idea insym mentioned. thank you for this video!

It's funny how like 40% of the cases are you just searching the entire city, not being able to find the target/murderer and then just running into them randomly when you're doing something completely unrelated

Finally picked up this game, I was scared my pc would not be able to run it but it works well enough. Can't wait to see more of your series and play more on my own run!

when you throw the briefcase on the floor, you can briefly see whats in it, the first briefcase he threw at 34:40 had lots of money in it!!!! (the second one was a bomb tho)

Always had the game on my wishlist but after watching the live and previous video just had to get it. Looking forward to trying it out with a buddy tonight. Can't wait for more of this series, the usual Insym humour always makes me laugh.

43:45 The Cartographer where you get 10 for discoving vents also works with the blueprints. So both upgrades are amazing even if you don't plan to personally traverse many of the vents.

The Enforcers definitely teleport into the apartments sometimes, I was running behind the enforcer getting to the crimescene and ANOTHER Enforcer just FLEW across the building into the walls to be there before us. It happens a lot for me

Quick tip to get rid of “cold” condition quickly. You can go into a public restroom and use the hand dryer a couple of times and it gets rid of it. It also helps with the “wet” condition as well.

You can place a motion sensor. The Bloodhound tracker has 2 modes. 1 can track a person, 1 is a motion sensor.

Who else agrees with me that it would be cool if your character got framed for a murder and to clear your name you had to find the actual killer.

hi insym love your shadows of doubts videos, so much that i got the game myself and spent too much time playing it😫. just a little tip to make it less confusing: for the envelope jobs, sometimes there are multiple envelopes in an office belonging to different people scattered everywhere so u have to scan all the envelopes for fingerprints and make sure you collect the correct one belonging to the right guy. once i found 5 envelopes in one office and i was like gah damn. what i like to do after is to pin the fingerprints i found on all the extra envelopes up on my "notes" board so i can look back and see if i have the same fingerprints in the future when i pick up new cases!

1:29:35 I've solved cases like this before. Theft cases are pretty much always in offices so to figure it out you pretty much gotta go to every single office and check all the employee records until you find someone matching the description you have and then investigate further. sometimes the investigation part is cut short by the game slightly bugging when you try to pin the suspects profile to the board which spoils the answer.

This came out just as I started on the first episode, talk about making my day 🙌

i just had a retired reaper murder case that was giving me trouble, as i was walking around the city i kept hearing ringing from nearby telephones. well i would answer them and it was kinda glitchy dialog but i traced it back to the address and found the killer. such a cool game

1:30:10 Oh yeah, that's a "brute force" case for sure. Just walk into every single corporate office and look at the employee board until you find someone that matches all the points you have, and then go see if their place has the documents. If you get lucky enough to have initials, you can also just spam-print information from the city hall terminal for every person that matches.

If you love the atmosphere of this game and the voxel graphics, I'd say give "Cloudpunk" a look. Totally different type of game, but as immersive, especially when using first-party camera while flying your vehicle.

I keep discovering new things in this game. I totally agree that there's so much potential. Today I discovered you can get crank calls to your home phone. I have a case tray at my apartment to pick up and turn in cases, and since the latest killer was my neighbor it was easier to go to the apartment. So as I was leaving the phone rang. I answered it and it said something like "unknown caller" but no one said anything. I hung up. This happened again as I was leaving and a third time which I didn't answer. After turning in the case the calls stopped. So much room for potential there. Maybe you could get anonymous tips over the phone or threatening calls to "get off the case" etc.

I had a few crime scene/murderer ideas 1. I don’t know if this is already done in the lovers murder case, but what if there was a couple murderer (2 partners commit the murder) 2. Hirable assassin. You could have to find the assassin and then via their sales ledger find the client who hired the assassin in the first place 3. Vigilante. Kills past criminals, which could bring in a whole new idea of criminal records for each citizen 4. Rebel (I forgot the name of the group that’s against Starch Kola). Kind of like the vigilante, but kills people affiliated with Starch Kola, like higher class citizens and enforcers. Could also bring in the idea of politics within the cities. 5. Saw killer/Kidnapper. If you know the movie saw, then you know what I’m talking about. Killer who kidnaps people then puts them in traps. If not the traps, then it could just be a regular kidnapping where the killer gives the detective 24 hours before he kills the target and kidnaps another person. Could also bring in the idea of missing persons reports as other crimes.

first thoughts about that game ,hm strange but interesting ,after some time i was hooked ! that grafic kinda makes it special but it matches in a funny brilliant way ! that game is crazy in a good way and i would love to see more of it ! just the way to take notes is special ,most games do the work for you but here it wouldn´t fit ,really a nice nice game !!!

Hi Insym! I truly appreciate your commitment to what you do, as well as your candid attitude throughout your streams. Wanted to say I bought this game because of you! Even though I cannot play it very well since I have a Mac. Not saying that in a bad way!! There are some servers that allow me to essentially wait in queue to connect to softwares that allow me to play the game, I just have to wait. Anyways, I love watching your play-throughs! I love your different series that you put together! I know I'm among the smaller audience who appreciates series'. But I will say, I ended up playing sons of the forest, shadows of doubt, and currently addicted to Stardew valley because of you hahah. Have you ever played "Stray"? It is game where you're a cat trying to get back to the surface to meet your other cat friends in a post-apocolyptic environment. Other readers, like if you want to see Insym play Stray!

I love this series. Just discovered this game and your videos. I hope you can play some episodes with mods so we can see some new stuff too. I was wondering why you dismissed the briefcases so fast without checking them for fingerprints. You mentioned that in one of your videos from 11 months ago :) I haven't seen all the videos from this series yet.

I hope the Devs add like a co-op lobby for max 2 players and that when you interact with certain things, you leave fingerprints (This would be funny if players can kill if they either reach a certain level or have a certain Disk that allows them to kill.)

Insym, have you ever played White Day: A Labyrinth named School. Lots of scares and lots of fun! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Some ghosts you have to complete side quests to scare you

This game deserves a multiplayer setting. Have someone that is a killer and 1-3 detectives. Killer has a job and responsibilities they need to maintain but is also an assassin for hire and will need to try and clean up after each kill as effectively as possible to reduce what's left behind for detectives to find. The detectives need to not only find the assassin but also find the person that hired them and they get one free descriptor for every person they find. Would be awsome.

Also one more thing u can take the fingerprint on case before taking the job that gives info about someone who posted the case which might help in few things.

59:11 - I believe the bloodhound tracker can be used as a motion sensor. I've not tried it personally - I've only used it by putting it on another person, but I believe it's supposed to be able to also be placed somewhere and it will ping you when someone is near it. Next time I play, I'm going to do some testing with it. Edit: I commented to soon, not realizing you picked up on this during the video.

you should check notes on unknown citizens like the one that only had the fingerprint, you have stuff like an initial or building where they might live

I swear, some of the Side Jobs that get dropped are dropped for the most flimsy reasons, and, ironically, go against the idea of a gumshoe pounding the pavement for leads. Any time a Side Job offers you someone as concrete as a Job Position or their Salary, that's free knowledge padding of Names, Addresses, Handwriting, General Features, Job, and Salary, and all it requires is 30c for a Guest Pass during the day, or a handful of lockpicks and camera dodging at night.

so i was bored on my birthday and launched shadows of doubt not knowing about the update. just finished my 2nd full playthrough. I love this game
