The creep-out factor was high in this chapter. In the coffins with windows, I half expected one. of the heads to turn and follow Maya or Drummer as they walked past. Having Strickland, Dresden and Phoebe Station all name-dropped is ... "a bit unsettlin', don't ya think?" - Alex Kamal.
Maya pranked you in one of the previous episodes. During zero-g exploration she let Drummer think one of the mining charges was about to explode and told her to move away quickly. Unfortunately the credits kinda confirmed and spoiled it but it was pretty obvious that JP stood for... BOOK AND SHOW SPOILERS Jules-Pierre Mao, the influential CEO/Earther scientist who did protomolecule experiments on kids. The unknown man from the recording even sounded like his actor. Like you speculated this has to be the precursor to how JPM was able to obtain and weaponize the protomolocule.
23:25 If it's certain death vs long shot hope that somebody can find their preserved corpses and has the technology to revive them is suprisingly rational. Makes me think the plan came first and the cult after to make it more palatable rather than the other way around. 59:00 Didn't this guy also have drug withdrawal symptoms or something? Might be part of why he thinks mutiny is a good idea. Also should be another reason why nobody should listen to him.
Drug withdrawal symptoms that were kept at bay by meds. If he was suffering from withdrawal in that moment, you would've seen his hands shaking, which makes me think that if Drummer chooses to fight there, she would have more of a chance if she didn't give Arlen the meds (because his aim would be off). Regardless, there's no indication that withdrawal has any impact on his choices here.
It was really good but definitely a bit short. With the big ending choices and all the stuff you collected while exploring, maybe more of an intermediary episode that sets things up for the next ones. ps: really hope they're going to stick with the diverging path though, and not make it equal early on in the next one!
I know that for some reason a lot of people are still bitter about Life is Strange endings, but "choice matters" doesn't mean it should have a direct effect on the ending. Having 20 different endings doesn't automatically make a good game either. A lot of Max choices have meaningful and sometimes dramatic consequences throughout the story, and these choices & consequences are what makes it your own story with its own divergences, and not the same one story for everyone.
Well, that was a very sudden ending, I thought it will go further with the story. I wish they didn't put Protomolecule in this honestly, this setting has a lot to offer and doesn't need everything to revolve around single plot device. If I understand correctly there will be continuation to this right? Curious what happens next, so far a 6,5/10 for me, but with potential
