This video is one that was requested by a bunch of commenters. This is a blind solve, meaning that I've never solved this puzzle before, and I talk through what I'm thinking about as I solve it. If you want to see more of these types of videos, let me know in the comments!

next time you do a blind solve, if you're gonna edit the video down you should have a timer in the corner to show how long it takes you. great stuff none the less, i find these videos so satisfying.

That is a great idea! I can't believe I didn't think of that!
@timothywu8441

Approximately how long did it take you to solve this one?
@FLEBpuzzles
@FLEBpuzzles 7 лет назад
It took me somewhere between 10 and 11 minutes, according to the amount of footage I took. Not super fast, but I was happy with the time! Next time I'll time it!
@talesfromiDEATH
@talesfromiDEATH 7 лет назад
FLEB i think editing the videos down is definitely the way to go then. saves having minutes of you just randomly twisting and going down dead ends. the timer would be cool though.

A few commenters have suggested that I fast forward through the boring parts, which I think is a slightly better solution than just cutting it out. We'll see next time!

Awesome! It was great to hear your explanations and understand how you solved this. The puzzle itself is interesting too, I like the way you're allowed to rotate the piece around to align the two pieces correctly.
@FLEBpuzzles
@FLEBpuzzles 7 лет назад
Thank you! I thought it was a neat puzzle too. It's a 2 star in terms of difficulty, according to Hanayama, so it's not very hard, but it was a lot of fun to solve! I really like the idea of needing rotations but blocking them in most cases, so you have to use unusual orientations to remove the pieces.

A lot of the Hanayama cast puzzles have very similar steps to this one, requiring you to rotate and re-insert the pieces in order to solve it. A similar puzzle to this one (which was far more difficult) would be the Hanayama Twist. It adds a maze to it, which was very interesting to me. Another unique challenge would be the Hanayama Marble, and one of the more difficult ones would be the Hanayama Enigma. I recommend all of them (really, all Hanayama puzzles are pretty fun). Also, really loving RYB. Really well-designed.

@FLEBpuzzles 7 лет назад
Yep! Two come to mind immediately. 1. I was gifted a custom puzzlehunt for my wedding, which consisted of 20 some puzzles and a 4 foot x 2 foot x 2 foot box filled with electronics. My wife and I are stuck on the last puzzle, but we'll hopefully solve it this month! 2. The last puzzle of the Maze of Games is really difficult. At last year's GenCon, I talked to Mike Selinker about it, and he told me that I was the closest to the answer out of anyone he's seen, but I still haven't solved it! A few months ago, the "Lotus Box" would have been an answer to that question, but I finally sat down and worked out what I was missing.

I finally finished nemesis factor in my "perfect score" run I ended up with 995 I didn't notice it doing anything different from when I used the hint button in my previous runs but it has been a week. But now I am curious what happens if you actually end with a perfect score of 1000. But I am putting the puzzle away fro a while I am burnt out. Thanks for introducing me to the awesome beast and all the other puzzles on your channel. I can't wait to get some more fun things you recommend.

You did a lot of nearly doing the move and then backing up instead of completing it. For example at the end you rotated the piece the way you wanted, but instead of trying to pull it out you went back and redid the rotation to check if it went the way you wanted it to. I probably would be trying to pull it out after every move. Is there a reason you aren't doing that?
@FLEBpuzzles
@FLEBpuzzles 7 лет назад
This puzzle is "maze-like", so I wanted to make sure I knew where I was in the maze and could back out to a position I was pretty sure was correct. When I undid that move at the end, I wanted to make sure that the move was doing what I wanted it to. I could have pulled it out at that point, but I was just being careful!

While picking up the puzzle I accidentally knocked over my camera, so I did cut out an extra part, but it was mostly for setting the camera back up!

This is by Hanayama, so it's available lots of places. Searching google for "cast keyring" should bring up a couple places where it's sold.

Heat it to 1000°C, then the silver one will melt off but the gold one will remain.
