My grandparents told me about starvation (the life of my grand-grandparents in Poltava Region) how terrible it was... Corps we’re lying everywhere, canabalism, etc. And, that was not mentioned in the history/ books! Till now!

Compared with brutality of the Holocaust, Holodomor had been overlooked for a long time. Even today, few people in my country knows exactly what really happened to Ukrainian people under the cruel rule of the Communist Party in 1932 and1933. I hope this awesome movie will shed light on the darkest part of Communism, and teach us the importance of freedom.

We can only hope our President Trump sees this movie and realizing his bromance with Putin is built on the bones of 4-5 million or more Ukrainian martyrs. Maybe he will realize its not worth it....but somehow I doubt it. Learn the Ukrainian national anthem and have the courage to stand up and sing it as the credits are rolling!

/Sippenhaft/ is over. check out the word if you do not know it. the same as today's generation of Austrians and `germans have had enough still being blamed what has happened during the years of the aquarel painter. also the generation of today's Ukrainians and Russians are not interested anymore what had happened back than and still get it rubbed on. it should and will never be forgotten, there and here. I am an Austrian, living now 25 years in Russia, married to a Russian. I work here, make my living here and never have been accused of being something other than a Chef, that is my profession. On the other hand, we only know for certain where one of our family's men died, for the rest /unknown/. do i hate them? stir up things? no need for it.

Stop lying. Putin and today's Russia has zero to do with the Holomodor. It was Jewish Bolsheviks who carried out Stalin's orders to starve Ukraine.

Me thinks Karen could care less about your point. Her agenda is to try to tie the Holomodor to Putin. Bizarre that she thinks it works.

They have some room for manoeuvre, without fundamentally changing the system. They can even publish the Gulag Archipelago. But they can´t do it for long. - Vladimir Bukovsky (1987)

The interviewer seems so ignorant about the whole topic...so unengaged with the emotions the actors tried to describe

The film is definitely educational, people don't know about the genocide. Ukrainians are still fighting for their lives. - In 1932 and 1933, millions of Ukrainians were killed in the Holodomor, a man-made famine engineered by the Soviet government of Joseph Stalin. The primary victims of the Holodomor (literally "death inflicted by starvation") were rural farmers and villagers, who made up roughly 80 percent of Ukraine's population in the 1930s. While it is impossible to determine the precise number of victims of the Ukrainian genocide, most estimates by scholars range from roughly 3.5 million to 7 million (with some estimates going higher). The most detailed demographic studies estimate the death toll at 3.9 million. Historians agree that, as with other genocides, the precise number will never be known.😭

Their wheat was both a blessing and a curse. Humans kill over commodities. It is sad but that is who we are....

Why can"t these movies be accurate? Why does Stalin have an English accent?
@itsamini1

Russians learn English with an English accent, my friend was looked down upon for having an American accent she picked up while living with me as an exchange student
@titchner211c

Well, my students from Russia don't have an English accent. Why does Jesus Christ have an English accent in the movies? Hitler has an English accent in movies. I think it's just the media.
@titchner211c

However, Stalin probably spoke English or at least understood a great deal of it. He loved movies made in the West. In the Yalta conference (the famous picture) he seems to be communicating. Maybe there is a translator we can't see but probably not.
@Sp4wn82
@Sp4wn82 4 года назад
@@titchner211c As far as I know his English was limited. He corresponded via interpreters. One of those was Valentin Berezhkov. I wouldn't say Stalin spoke no English but I guess his knowledge was limited. He spoke Georgian and Russian fluent, the latter with a harsh Georgian accent, maybe some German from his short time in Vienna. He seldom travelled abroad. The movies from the West could have been localized into Russian.

Yes 60 million people is not good but if you look in wW1 and Ww2 germany killed almost over 150 million.
@stevemattero1471

Idk where you get your numbers. Total deaths for WW1, military and civilian, globally, about 17 million. WW2 would be about 50 million. Stalin alone is responsible for the death of more people than the Spanish flu.
