Yeah I wrote something similar yesterday on another episode! About how they're the healthiest relationship I've seen on the screen in a long time! Love 'em. The first one I watched was the one where he's not laughing, and I still enjoyed their interaction until the end
What I find so interesting is how she can nail the British identity, those little idiosyncrasies that are particular to the English. Her character of Nan isn't like any other grandmothers anywhere else. You'd only find her in the England along with the teenage girl (do I look like I'm bothered) and the female detective you'll only find in UK. She is brilliant.
@@Notpoop906 Oh very true. And horrifying. Because old people can get that way, and she fits in the tradition of "Awful Characters That People Love"...Archie Bunker, Homer Simpson, Chandler's ex-girlfriend Janice, it's kind of a trope by now, but Nan is pure genius.
I absolutely love her! What an amazing talent. But I guess the Britts just like to use the Lord’s name as a foul expletive rather than a respectful and appropriate way.
That couple with the exaggerated perkiness, they are funny but I don't know if they are modeled on characters most viewers would know, or a recognised Type. And guidance on that.
I don't know if they fit a trope, only that they have one of the healthiest relationships I've ever seen. Must admit I've met one couple from Essex that reminded me of those two, but I'm not from or in the UK so I don't know if it's an Essex thing?
@@Skittenmeow as someone from essex, yes I think this is very common here. Drawing a story out longer than it needs to be, with no pay off but reviling in the moment nonetheless. Ha!
I know they can talk for an hour about something that lasted five minutes in reality and turn something vaguely funny into the most hilarious thing that has ever happened in their life 😂
Nah, it'll be alright. There's a whole lot of worse stuff on tv nowadays. I'd prefer a person joking (in a nice way) about gays/women/dark skin or death than listen to people on t.v. saying stuff about those things that I *wish* were jokes and not hateful speeches.
So true. Would fall foul of the "cancel" generation. Most if her sketches are self depreciation humour, with an equal dash of sarcasm and irony. Sure it was a different time, but not "woke" enough anyone. I am glad I grew up with such great British comedy shows as Fools and Horses and Blackadder to name but two.
“ I’m in my wedding dress, it doesn’t have pockets, who has pockets? Have you ever seen a bride with pockets? When I go back to the fitters I’ll say to them the one thing I forgot to tell you, IS GIVE ME POCKETS!” Donna Noble, Christmas 2006.
Patstokes70 she can "nail the British identity" because that's what she is British so she knows exactly what we are like. so to me it's not interesting it's real.the parts that she portrays there really is people like that in good old blighty😀
It's not unless you grew up, or are British and under the age of 20. Don't worry plenty of Gen Z humour out there on you tube. However to have ended up here, you must have searched for something relevant to it.
@@samdasilva1914 I’m Generation Z and Catherine cracks me up. It’s really just personal humor, I think anyone would find this funny, apparently not the person who wrote the comment though...
