Step by step tutorial on how to make 465 soy candles that have an amazing Cold Throw and a great hot throw. using the unique method that Cathy of Cathy's Candle Creations uses.
This video was shared in a group and boy oh boy am I grateful. You cleared up a lot of misconceptions I had. Also what blew my mind is that I can use the 464 for the wax melts. I've been spending extra money testing other waxes for my wax melts thinking I needed a harder wax when I could just use the 464. Thanks a bunch, this helped a whole lot.
I am so glad it was shared and that it has been helpful. I truly appreciate you taking the time to let me know ow also. I love 464 and apparently my many repeat customers love 464 wax melts as much as candles. I'm so glad to help! 🤩💜
I just bought 464 and have been working with coconut apricot and coco soy.joy wax and so on. I have good hopes for this wax and will let you know how it goes..thank you for sharing..
Wow! Thank you. I'm new at all this. I started with soy 444. I feel like it needed some moisture, glad I caught this video. I made a candle today using 1 teaspoon (5.2g) for 170g candle tin (I hope it's not to much). I can't wait to see what the results will be. Thank you again! 🙏
I know this video is an old one but may you answer this question: how to do calibrate the thermometer? I have the meat thermometer but it's not the digital one it's the the one that you stick in the meat to check the temperature. I have 464 wax this helps a lot showing to you make candles with it. This is so informative 🥰 thank you. Peace 🕊️ Love 💞 and Blessings 🙏🏾
thanks so much for sharing i have heard of the coconut oil added to the wax helps alot/ i will for sure try / my only question is have you wicked with eco using this method or only cd/ i have only eco and wanted to try it /
Cathy and do you get really good hot throw like in a big room will it fill the room quick? Im having so much troubles with my HT but i havenet tried your methid
Thank you for the great video! I'm trying it as soon as I get some coconut oil, my question or questions is what exactly is the coconut oil for and does it matter if it's refined or or not?
Thanks hon and you're welcome! I just grab organic coconut oil at Walmart most of the time. I make body butters too and I get a high temp coconut oil from Bulk Apithocary that I will use in my candles too. It helps cut down on frosting with soy... and maybe helps with cold throw and hot throw some. 🤩💜
Hey hon thank you! No... it's one tablespoon per pound... it was almost 3 tablespoon for that pot. I so appreciate your sharing that my video helps! I am making the videos like I used to teach when I was a teacher. Break it all down step by step🤩💜
You're very welcome and thank you so much! Different chandlers will tell you differently as far as cure time. My personal experience... if I am wick testing I cure for 24 to 48 hours. If I am testing hot throw I like 48 to 72 hours. To sell... I try let cure 5 days to sell. My southern accent was part of why I wasn't going to do RU-vid... so thank you so much!!!🤩💜
I order from Rustic Essentials because they used to be located in my state before they moved to Ohio. Candle Science is a highly reputable candle supplier I get many of my fragrance oils and my wicks from them. You are welcome for the video. Thank you!🤩💜
I think any digital food thermometer will work. I don't like the candy thermometer the increments are not small enough. So just the digital like you would check meat with. Hope that helps🤩💜
It is helpful to search around for pricing. Candle science is awesome but their shipping is really expensive. Look for places closest to you. I get my tins from flaming candle also
Coconut oil is said to help cut down frosting and possibly aid hot throw. I don't believe anything will totally eliminate frosting and I personally like the frosting as do may of my customers because it shows it is truly soy.
@@cathyscandlecreations7406 Awesome, thank you!! I used to make soy candles 19 years ago and stopped because it was so hard raising 4 small kids and having health issues. Back then the frosting drove me crazy. Now that I’m getting back into things hopefully it won’t bother me too much 😉
I have a quick question about he coconut oil. You said that you add 1tbls of coconut oil per pound of wax but you measure the wax in grams. I didn't hear how much coconut oil you added to this batch. The wax measures 1300 grams or 2.866lbs, did you add 2tbls, 2.5tbls or 3tbls? thank you in advance. I am struggling with 464 and I am very thankful I found your method, but I don't want todo it wrong!!!
This method works for any size container. The size and type you choose to use is based on the look and feel you want to represent and the demographic you are targeting. I love the tins, 8ounce mainly, because they are easy to get... easy and lighter to ship and they are safer shipping and burning.
I get a 40 hour burn time with my method out of these 8 ounce tins. I only tested ECOs prior to the CD and ECO 16 worked great for most but since not all fragrance oils are the same viscosity the 16 would sometimes bog down. I do doubt the the coconut oil changed the burn down enough to go from a CD5 to a CD 18. I have tested these for years now with GB464 and 444. It's all about the testing... fire safety and longest burn time and amazing hot throw. Thanks🤩💜
When I put a little bit of coconut wax to GW 464 the wick I ussualy use in the same Jar starts drowning. I need to wick up and the hot throw with coco blend is amazing😊
