When Continental Airlines Flight 1713 crashed on November 15, 1987, it soon became clear to investigators that initial theories could not be backed up by evidence. They would have to wait for the flight data recorders to be analyzed.

A former Continental Airlines gate agent in Denver in 2011, shared her experience working Flight 1713 at what was then, Stapleton Airport in Denver. She stated the gate agents and ramp agents were put on shuttle buses and advised by management to assist with the airplane. Management “neglected” to inform the agents that they were going to a crash site, until they got to the site. She said one of the ramp guys was never the same mentally after that experience.

Do note all investigations with or without the CVR and FDR are reconstructed by eyewitness, the plane in question, it's pilots background among others. If the CVR or FDR are reportedly able to extract data sometimes we are given it. In addition, if the pilots did survive and gave consent to be interviewed among investigators and the operator. We would be able to see that as well. However, if it's for example Air Transat 236. Airbus, Air Transat and the Flight Crew declined to be interviewed. All reconstructions are put by known facts of the flight and what was written in the final report. Usually investigators I've been told by an official worker for Qantas that if an accident has occurred there has to be a preliminary report within a year of the crash. Eventually the final report would be pieced together however, there are some instances where there is no possible explanation for why this occurred. This is usually rare but there have been some crashes where no possible explanation was found for instance Avianca Flight 52 or South African Airways Flight 295. But usually the Final Report would contain multiple causes and the primary cause. Do note this person I will keep their identity hidden as I do not know this particular person and they did reply to me on Instagram several months ago about how reports are published and what order it's done I've not been on Instagram let alone any of my social media platforms in over a week (As of posting of this comment) with me deciding to quit social media for good although I still use Spotify and RU-vid they are not really classified as "Social Media" however, I have the possibility to return but the chances of that occurring is quite unknown and I've decided to remain silent over the question

The pilots should have straight away land after they barely takeoff or when they felt vibration/ problem in the plane. They were just around 10ft above the ground so they could actually just lower the throttle all the way down and land the plane on the ground although it can be a rough landing. But it was better to make a hard landing on the ground than trying to keep the plane stabilised when the plane was falling on the right side.

HOW DOES SMALL ICE ON WINGS CRASH THE THING
@Hopeless_and_Forlorn
@Hopeless_and_Forlorn 3 года назад
The larger, thicker wings of earlier aircraft were, in general, able to carry a relatively large load of ice without losing a critical amount of lift. This changed with the introduction of high-speed, jet aircraft. The thinner and generally smaller wings are much more susceptible to disruption of normal air flow over the wing, particularly if the contamination is on or just behind the leading edge of the wing, exactly where most Ice accumulates in flight. The airplane in this tragedy was doubly unsuited to take off with ice on the wings. A DC-9-10 series airplane, it lacked the leading edge slats installed on later models of the airplane to increase lift at low airspeeds. Basically, the people on the airplane were doomed as soon as the pilot began the takeoff roll.

Aviation enthusiast 737-800 In that it didn’t make it through climb and lack of crew awareness, yes. That’s where the similarities stop. Delta 1141’s pilots did not extend the flaps. Continental 1713’s wings weren’t monitored for ice accretion.
