About the Walk: I am walking The Ireland Way for the next five weeks. The Ireland Way is a long distance path (1,000km) that connects a series of hiking trails between the north and south of Ireland. I will begin walking at the Giants Causeway and finish the trip in Castletownbere in County Cork.

you are so right about the forest. once i was so scared to be in forest at night, then i went and the feeling was so strange like the opposite of what i expected because it actually felt like a safe zone from civilized society and all its demands and dangers

Absolutely stunning scenery and thoughts Derek! Sitting here in NE Oklahoma at 71 yrs your video reminded me of my visit to the druids keep below Blarney Castle in 1976. Sadly that was the last year I visited your beautiful country. All Gods blessings on you and yours as well as Ireland.

Your doing a grand job letting us all share your walk derek, if you pass through portumna on your adventure try make time to call in at the old famine workhouse there, it dont seem to get the recognition it deserves and the poor souls who once occupied it.

Just found your channel today. It was wonderful to spend most of today watching your Camino walk. I walked along it three times and only ever met three fellow Irish people in total. Now you are waking me up to the Ireland walk and how beautiful it seems. Your videos are well presented and informative. So why is it that so few people have discovered you on youtube? You are indeed a modern Explorer and an inspiration.

RU-vid just algorithmed me to your channel, as I've been watching others walk the Ireland Way. You're the first I've seen go north to south. I would like to walk it myself too sometime. I just wanted to say yes, I believe that Fairies exist, and I have a healthy fear of them and great respect for their places.

Derek, it is always cool to be talking to a camera in the middle of nowhere😊 Loved those moss covered trees and the Giants Grave/Druids Chair definitely very atmospheric.Some beautiful walking and another cool camp spot for the night. Some cool sentiments about the land and the power of nature👍👍

Derek, you should definitely look up more about Celtic paganism and that sort of stuff. I'd consider myself a bit of a Germanic pagan, I believe in the old gods and the creatures of the land. It's a very spiritual path that makes you more connected with nature. All the stuff you were talking about in this video is all so much in line with what pagans believe in.

I’m hoping to walk a bit of the Cavan Way when I finally get to Cavan when restrictions are lifted. Back during our Nov ‘19 challenge with you I did my final week of walking around Cavan Town during a visit home to visit my Da and thanks to you I’m still walking every single day since and loving it 😀 Keep going you’re doing great 💚

Great video Derek! Love the talk on Fairy's. Been tuning in from Canada and sharing your link often - I'm really enjoying! I have a question for you regarding the trash you may produce while travelling -i assume you take it with you but where do you finally dispose of it? local towns i presume?. Wrappers, packaging (pasta etc) and sorry to ask - but "natures" washroom and forest protocol -any advice for us ? The music is a nice tough! cheers!

Approximately how many miles do u walk a day? Is 32 miles a day a realistic target?

Hi John, that would be far too much for me at this time due to being unfit and out of shape. Toward the end of the walk, I might be walking that distance but for now it's closer to 20/22 miles per day :)
